So far the list of 1080p games for PS3 looks like this:
- Virtua Tennis 3
- Marvel Ultimate Alliance
- Lair
- NBA 07
- Ridge Racer 7
- Mobile Suit Gundam
- Gran Turismo : HD
- flOw
- Full Auto 2
Of those VT3, FA2, RR7, MUA are all crossplatform games in some form, and for all, besides the resolution, the developers and journalists report the PS3 version looks t...
So the confirmed list of 1080p games looks like this:
- Virtua Tennis 3
- Marvel Ultimate Alliance
- Lair
- NBA 07
- Ridge Racer 7
- Mobile Suit Gundam
- Gran Turismo : HD
- flOw
- Full Auto 2
And ofcourse Resistance is aiming for 1080p as well. Good to see developers don't find it too hard to implement 1080p. Especially as the PS3 version of these games seem to have improved graphics overall...
"I guess the only times you should comepare graphics, is when there are games that are for both consoles, which have been in development for the same amount of time."
Well, only one out there, with equal delelopment time, almost same time with final dev kits and a special team assigned to each version (so each team can utilize their console to its strengths), I know of is Virtua Tennis 3, which is in 1080p on the PS3 with clearer textures according to game journalists.

We don't disagree on most of the issues... just the details.
I haven't got a MediaCenter PC and neither does most people. So far sales for MediaCenter PCs have been very very small. The fact is, I don't care for a further $600 investment or whatever, just to be able to show familyphotos on my HDTV.
I don't want to have my equipment turned on every single minute of the day. It's not good for the environment, the equipment and it's not good for my economy.

-> Horse Piss:
What are you rambling about? Dificult to understand your point. Just for clarity I would like to point out that devs get all different kind of development kits before the launch of a console. The earliest are basic PCs with a standard graphic card capable of delivering roughly the expected performance of the final console graphic chips. The closer it gets to launch, the more final dev kits are available to the developers.
Developers start to design and c...
It is basically the time with final dev kits that decides wether it's a first gen or second gen game.
The first wave of games, the ones where the devs have had final dev kits for 3 - 10 months, those are first gen games. The second wave, those where the devs have had final dev kits for 10 or more months, those are second gen games.
It has always been like that in every console generation. The devs need to get to know the hardware, before they can push it. And the...
Among others they've got a nice one on 5th Av in New York (if my memory serves me) and the one at Potzdammer Platz in Berlin isn't to shabby either.
Are you forgetting we've seen pre-production prototypes since E3, and more than 200 of them at this TGS?
Sony are ready for production... They've got the plants to deliver more than 1mill a month...
They have no obligation to tell YOU when they begin production or how it is going. All that matters is that they deliver.
No preorders is a strategic decision.
As you say, devs haven't had final dev kits for more than 4-5 months max, and it is once they get final dev kits all the magic happens. Up until then it is all standard PC parts with the Cell processor, but part of the beauty of the PS3 is in how the RSX and Cell are connected. To utilize that devs NEED to have the final dev kits (or pretty close to final).
So it doesn't matter how long the game has been in design for, if the devs are unable to really push the limits of the tec...
But who would want to invest another $800 in a MediaCenter? And run into the office, turn it on, wait for it to boot, wait for it to boot, wait for it to boot, back into the livingroom, get the x360 up and running... just to enjoy a couple of family photos. Not very elegant...
I would go for the PS3 way of doing things. I was actually hooked on buying a Mac mini for that exact purpose -- now I don't have to.
60GB is enough space for most people. If it isn't, you ...
It sounds like a vacuum cleaner.... It is so loud that my X360 is unusable as a DVD-player (ofcourse the sound sync problem helps as well). I bought it at launch... And it gets HOT!
And honestly, the few games I got for it aren't all that. I am looking forward to GoW though...
Most games, if not all, allows you to rearrange the controls to your liking.
Btw, the R2 + L2 on the Sixaxis are different from the ones on the Dualshock 2. Most reports mentions them as pretty good and as propper triggers.
Ofcourse Resistance will be multiplayer from the start. They, and some of the other online games, will probably use their own servers, as it seems the Sony online setup isn't quite ready yet (since some developers hasn't heard much about onlin...
"You're a Sony droid thinking 6 or 7 x 8,5 GB should be nescessary. That's if you only use CGI material in games yeah like Sony wants!"
Seeing how Lost Odessey uses mostly CGI material (except for the few random animations during battle), I would expect them to want more space. Fact is, some developers has already found use for the extra amount of space, so the need is there wether you like it or not.

making it a perfect fit for a SPU. To do the same effect on a PPU (of which the PS3 has one and X360 has three) a lot more processing time would be needed and thereby making less room for other effects.
Another usual misunderstanding is that threads are just as good as another core -- they are not!
The reason the PPU's have two threads is actually a way to better utilize the spare power when the processor gets halted at something. Specifically for simple processo...
As you state she specifically mentioned "threading", but probably meant to say "branching" or something.
The reason: The X360 is capable of 2 threads on each of its 3 ppu's making for a total of 6 threads. The PS3 is capable of 2 threads on its ppu and 1 thread on each of its 7 spu's making for a total of 9 threads.
Regarding branch prediction, which is good for among other things AI, the ppu's are better than the spu's, giving the X360 a slig...
only if you've got precious saves you would like to transfer. By the way, to do the same on the X360 with one of the few games that actually is backwards compatible, you'll need both a PC and an adaptor -- now THAT is expensive!
But now you are being completely ignorant.
Apple has an installed marketshare of about 2-4%, OSX been on the market for more than five years, is one of the most prestigous systems to hack/create viruses for -- yet ZERO virusses has been discovered for OSX. Linux/Unix are the primary platform for webservers, yet very few viruses for the respective platforms are registered. A lot more than 100.000 viruses are registered on the Windows platform.

According to Sony the PS2 has a bigger online userbase than the X360 or XBox even. This makes sense considering the larger installed userbase, though XBL percentage wise undeniably has a larger community. However it does cancel out that argument.
But Sony is a software company too. All electronics today needs software. And more people employed at Sony spend their time developing games for consoles than at MS -- a lot more actually.
Wether MS XBL can be beaten; one thing history has repeatedly taught us is that the market leader eventually will be beaten. Wether that will be PS3 being beaten by X360 or XBL being beaten by the PS3 equivalent remains to be seen. I personally believe in the PS3 this generation.
-> TheMart
The exact specification of the hardware in consoles is rarely ever communicated before launch. To consumers specs doesn't matter as long as Sony delivers, and so far they certainly have. We've seen crossplatform games look better in higher resolution on the PS3 in a virtually silent console with only a slightly larger footprint than the X360 (unless you count the powerbrick). No need to worry...
