... as the one used in PS3. HD-DVD has a maximum transfer rate of 36.5Mps (it is only currently defined as a 1x speed), while Blu-Ray has 1x speed of 36Mps and a 2x of 72Mps, clearly outperforming HD-DVD. Blu-Ray video (as in the movies you buy at your local Walmart) has a transferrate of 54Mps, which is why almost all Blu-Ray drives support the 2x speed aswell.
The bitrate is important, because it decides the quality of output -- more bits, better picture and sound. The lower ...
Since you obviously don't know anything about advertising, let me enlighten you.
Advertising is about generating consumer awareness and brand recognition. There are different approaches to this but most important is to be where your target audience is. Sony is doing exactly that with their CL sponsorship hitting almost all males between the ages of 12 and 40 in all of Europe (and some parts of the rest of the world). Furthermore it's a high-class sporting event matching the PS3's s...

I know it's not as good as PES, but it's on par with FIFA gameplay wise (from my point of view atleast). They might just surprise us with that one early next year.
And remember, with the X360 PES-exclusivity being for Europe only and just this year, it effectively is a non-starter, since the PS3 is first released in Europe next year. What a waste of money by MS.
Ofcourse there is always the last resort of just playing the good old PS2 PES on ones more-or-less fully b...
... meaning that all Champions League matches has the ad there. This is the continuation of a many year long sponsorship -- earlier years it was for Playstation 2.
The finals of the Champions League will be played after the launch of Playstation 3 in Europe and because of this it makes sense to continue the sponshorship. And this is after all the biggest football club-tournament on earth with viewers tuning in from all over the world on every gameday.

Click on "Specification" and "Wireless controllers"... "The port indicator shows when the controller is assigned to one of the PLAYSTATION 3 system's seven ports". And have you thought about that controller "number 5" may be shown by the 4 and 1 light up?
Regarding online play, it will, as with every thing a company does, be us consu...
I too believe they will be fairly similar graphic quality -- though I do believe the PS3 because of the SPU's will be able to deliver some graphical effects which will be rare on X360. Like the raycast voxel clouds and geometry water of Warhawk, the hair in Heavenly Sword and the cloak in Untold Legends.
Regarding the PS3 "Core" you are completely wrong and misinformed. The PS3 "Core" WILL have wireless controllers, and according to a week old official websi...
... has been commented upon by the devs as I recall in a forum: old pic, Sony decides what pics to release, some of the stuff they are looking to correct between now and the release.
M3rcutio: Unless you're willing to buy the x360 Core edition, it's actually $100 more for the PS3, since the PS3 "Core" matches the x360 Premium in every regard and exceeds on the Blu-Ray drive. Wether you think it's worth the extra $100 to get free online play, a HD movie player and games li...
Most flatscreens (except for the very low end) accept resolutions of 1080i and has panel resolutions above 720p (1280x720) i.e. 1366x768. The actual visual resolution of 1080i depends on the signal as it is an interleaved signal (it transmits half the frame at a time). If it's a steady picture the resolution is effectively 1920x1080 or 1080p, while if it's a fast moving scene, the resolution drops. According to one of EBUs (European Broadcasting Union) experts, a fast paced scene would normal...
But actually disagree with you. :-) I personally find both consoles will be relatively on par for HD-gaming, while the PS3 will be clearly superior for HD-movie playback compared to cost.
My point is, for hardcore gamers not interested in HD-movies, but who can agree the Core-package of X360 is just not enough (which all hardcore gamers into online gaming would think), the PS3 is actually still the cheaper console when you count everything in except games (because your mileage may...
You are off with your prices. Look closely and see I only state the price on the consoles and not the games, since your choice in games may differ from mine. I might be completely satisfied with XBL Arcade games at $5 a piece, while you'll go for the big $60 games. And so far there is no indication pricing on games will differ by much if any between the systems (I have read the interview stating PS3 games will be more expensive than $50 -- well, so are the X360 games).
AND I do...
You sound like gamer two to me... And then still the PS3 is a cheaper buy for you -- or atleast about on par with the X360.
I do state SRP... One might be able to find the PS3 cheaper than the SRP as well... So to make it even-stephens I use the SRP's... But even with your "special internet deal" reduction, it's still just about the same for both systems for gamer two and still a lot cheaper for gamer three to go with PS3.
Atleast according to Ars:

What if we look at it from a gamers perspective -- or even three:
Gamer one -- the poor lonely student:
Don't need online play and will only play his new console by himself on his good old SD TV. No wireless is needed because he practically sits on top of his TV. He insists on getting a X360 or PS3. Will play on his new console for the next two years, and expects to use savepoints in games regularly.
Gamer two -- the hardcore gamer:

I am for one more interested in the PS3 with BR, than without it. I like to keep my livingroom clean and without too much clutter. So I'm looking for all-in-one wondermachines.
I love watching 1080i movies on cable on my big flatscreen (eventhough it only has a resolution between 720p and 1080i I still prefer 1080i by far -- so much sharper, so much more fidelity) so a BR-player is an obvious choice.
Eventhough I might consider the PS3 at that price, if they did ...
Atleast it was in june at MS financial conference call... Not too many units sold in Europe at that time. The only really succesful market for X360 at that point was NA. I don't believe too much has changed since that time, but who knows... And the delay of PS3 may even have helped MS even more... But I'm not convinced untill I get some official numbers from MS proving otherwise.
Actually I'm quite positive in my posts... You might call me a fanboy, I don't mind... but I do try to have some proper facts in my post and not anything made out of thin air.
Sony haven't exactly had the best press since their E3 05 presentation, and they have made some pretty silly remarks. But they still deserve to be treated somewhat fair, and making stuff up is not fair.
If we don't discuss from facts it will all just be a fanboy rant and there have been too...
Sony plans for 2M PS3 shipped this year, if they can obtain that I don't know... but that is what they've got planned. So compare 2M to 10M... And even better... Compare that to the 1.5M X360 shipped during the same period last year -- were the developers pissed off about that?
If a developer went solely by installed userbase, all games would be developed for PS2 and Gameboy... come on...
... where X360 in NA outsold the X360 in Europe by a factor of 5:2 and an unbelievable 9:1 compared to Japan, I think it is, unless the X360 finally have taken off in Europe, highly unlikely COD2 would have sold 2 mill worldwide. If they are lucky it's more like 1,5 mill, which by itself is impressive...
