Oh yeah, there's definitely plenty of power to go around. Nobody ever said "hard" was impossible.

I think what slowed the PS3 down at first was the games that were based on existing engines. I can imagine it being very difficult to shoehorn in more multithreading options into an existing engine (and some companies have been using the same engines for YEARS, albeit heavily modified over time), but when you're building from the ground up, it's significantly easier to impl...

Call me crazy, but I think Edge might just have a bit of sense behind them.
The 0-10 scale most magazines use is, quite simply, broken. 10 should be perfect and 5 or 6 should be average, but for some reason 8 is average and 7 is really bad? I don't think so.
I think many, many games are grossly overrated, I can honestly say I don't think I've played a 10/10 game in years, on any platform.

Basically, I think it should work like this:

6 - Completely average...

Bathyj, even though you disagree with me, I want you to know that I appreciate your constructive tone. I wish more people on this site were as diplomatic as you.

But, back to the points at hand. What you say about the Xbox isn't quite true, the processor isn't like on a PC where you can have as many threads as you like and just let the OS sort out which goes where, each core is "in order", which to my understanding basically means you can't just have threads willy-nilly...

The money is just a front, what the labels REALLY want is to set a legal precedent with this case. That way, it'll be incredibly easy to sue any torrent sites they want.

I genuinely laughed out loud at the last pic on page 3. I don't know why.

It's not quite the same game that you have on the PC. In fact, it flips the game on it's head. In the PC game, your goal is to AVOID the bombs and try to flag them. In this, your objective is to FIND the bombs (actually it's the flags you find) and you compete against other people.

There's a minesweeper flags game in MSN/Windows Live Messenger, give THAT a try to get an idea of what this is about.
It's probably worth maybe 400 points at the most, though.

Interesting thing you should take away from this:

"Q.Will Alan Wake use all 3 cores in the 360 CPU?

Any developer obviously tries to use all of the available hardware resources. But it’s unrealistic to assume having all cores at 100% at all times.

Just as an example, sometimes you need to stream new data in and decompress that on the fly, and thus need to leave headroom on the CPU to do that. When not streaming, that reserved time would be idle. If ...

I'm not american and I don't care for the American media.
And your 60% claim is unfounded, nobody's quite sure how many launch consoles died, the problem being that they didn't all suddenly die at once, some took years to die and some didn't die at all.

Unfortunately, it seems some people believe that defending either console makes you a fanboy. You know, because saying anything good about one means you're saying something negative about the other or some such.

I genuinely believe that most fanboys are simply in denial, that their investment didn't get them EVERY single good game going, that another, "inferior" system actually has a few good games as well and thus must justify their purchase by berating anyone that dis...

It was released as freeware by Rockstar a few years ago. Perfectly legal. The original GTA is up there as well.

Halo wars will do for RTS what Halo did for FPS - it'll take a few simple, basic concepts and make a nice game out of it that anyone can pick up and play.
It wont be anywhere near as successful, but I reckon it'll bring in a few fans that never liked RTS games much before.

They're two different stories, but the games are very similar, just L&D has a few more features and tweaks here and there. If I never got around to finishing the first one, why start the second?

I think Call of Duty is about the same.
At the very least, COD4 was still nearly full price when COD5 came out.

The RROD will ALWAYS be a problem, but some people blow it way out of proportion. Even the falcons that "Still RROD" failed a hell of a lot less than their predecessors, but apparently one failing console means the whole lot is a failure in some people's eyes. I think Microsoft made a hell of a lot of mistakes, but they're doing more than any other company I've seen to try and fix said mistakes. Last I seen, turnaround times for repairing consoles was down to about 2 weeks, so eithe...

To my shame, I've not completed GTAIV yet, just never got around to it. I'd like to grab this, but I can't justify it without completing the main game first.
I reckon it'll drop in price when the next DLC comes out so I might wait until then and hopefully I'll have completed GTAIV.

I seriously think we should have a rule about articles that post rubbish like this:

"Having spent my Valentines day with my shiny PS3, it looks like I will loose out again due to exclusive content only being offered on lesser systems."

Ok, we get it - you own a PS3 and you like it, that's fantastic, but just what the frakk does Dawn of War II (A PC RTS game) have to do with the console fanboy war? Why do you feel the need to instigate more fighting and bick...

In the grand scheme of things, not many people have invested in the PS3 (or the 360) right now, they're only about half way through their lifecycle at the very most.
Personally, I have no interest in hearing rumour and conjecture about future consoles that'll probably be completely wrong anyway, nor do I expect any official announcements for a couple of years and I'm fine with that.

And just to cause a bit of controversy - if the NEXT gen of consoles aren't backwards compatibl...
