thehitman: So companies shouldn't build upon existing francises now?
I hope you realise that Halo was, originally, a strategy game. Some way through development, it then became an FPS game. I don't see the problem with going back and making the RTS game that never was, except now you've got a good universe to build upon.
Agreed, Balrogs, but I'm sure there are plenty of Halo nuts out there that dislike Strategy games, but downloaded it any way just to see if it was any good.
I did see someone on N4G today claiming that Ensemble "killed" halo.
Unless the Blu-ray is 1080p, I don't really see much of a difference there. I suppose you can play the Blu-ray in any blu-ray player.
It's the Ryu figurine from the PS3 collectors edition I want.
Yeah, I never specifically stated when I thought they started to decline (Personally, I liked FF8 a lot), but I'd place it not long after FFX was released.
EDIT: I'd also like to state that it's unfair to blame Microsoft for their decline. All Microsoft wanted was their games on the 360, it was Squeenix that decided that their low quality was enough.
"Final Fantasy XIII exclusivity was lost due to the funds of a company that will not be named."
If that's not proof that this is little more than a fanboy rant, I don't know what is.
Lets be honest, guys, Squeenix hasn't been the same for years. Long before they started putting games on the 360, their overall quality declined vastly. I mean, the FF series has been pretty good, but everything else has been rubbish. Mystwalker put them to shame with Lost Odyssey and...
2010 will be the year of the Phobos!
How exactly have they "killed" halo? It's the halo universe in an RTS. I'm sorry that it's not ANOTHER FPS (Because we haven't had enough of those lately). It's a strategy game, it takes more than running in and punching all around you, it takes strategy.
From the demo, I think it's exactly what an RTS on a console should be. It's exactly how it sounds, Halo in RTS form and by that, I mean they took simple concepts and used them really well to make a very arcade-like game.
I'm really loving this global conspiracy against the PS3.
Software testing and games testing are not quite the same thing. For one, there's easily a line of people willing to test a game, but not a random piece of software.
They definitely don't earn anything near that, it's a minimum wage job.
It's tedious, monotonous and incredibly boring.
I have a friend who does this for Sony and before every big XMB update, he has to put in EVERY single PS1 and PS3 game there has been released so far and wait for it to get to the first game screen WITHOUT skipping any videos or anything. All day long.
He did get to play MGS4 about a week before it came out....for 30 seconds before he had to turn it off an...
I disagreed with you because you're a childish moron.
I believe one of the PS2 singstar games works on all PS3s.
It is on the 360, has been for months...
I'd love to know what the hell SCEE is doing, even a friend of mine who works for Sony said it was in certification months ago and, as far as he could tell (he is only a lowly tester), it passed fine.
I have to admit, usually most of these "next console design" articles are more wishful thinking than anything else, but this article puts forth some well thought out points. I disagree with it on certain points, but I'd say it'll be pretty close to the money.
This kind of article goes one of two ways:
You either get the PS3 haters going "Looool! But dey sez da saem fing in 2008!"
OR
You get the PS3 fanboys proclaiming that the PS3 is already ahead of the competition, if not in sales then by substance.
Either way, it's not going to do any good, it'll just start a fanboy holy war.
And the rest of the world, ThatArtGuy. Heaven forbid SCEE or Xbox Europe ever do stuff like this.
The first thing Ted says is "Calm please, calm. Man you guys get angry quickly.".
Understatement of the year.
Treyarch so far have made 2 COD games, one of which was "bad (But made in like 8 months), the other is currently one of the top Games on Live/PSN.
EDIT: Ok, they also made COD 2: Big red one, which seems to have got pretty good reviews (7's and 8's across the board).
@Rmagnus
I think that's exactly the problem, but it goes both ways - as much as people are claiming that it wasn't all that great, many people are claiming that it IS the best game ever. Hence the whole Edge Fiasco. Nobody's played it enough to give a real opinion about it yet.
Well slap me silly and call me betty, I actually agree with hiphopgamer!
There really is no reason to hate on RE5 so much. I think some people are just so used to generic FPSs, anything that's different must surely be BAD.
I bet if it was a console exclusive, things would be very different. For about 50% of people, anyway.
