Hungry for WORMS?!
(Subtle reference)
Why do so many people not understand that one particular game isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea? Some people like realism, some people like arcade pick-up-and-play action. Some people prefer a bit of weight behind the controls, others prefer a light and fluffy feeling. No one game is ever going to satisfy everyone.
I thought this review was very well written. Sure, he didn't think it was the bestgameever, but he gave some very good points as to why he felt this way. He stil...
thereapersson: It's his own fault for installing a 64bit OS. Not Vista's fault, he'd have similar trouble with XP x64.
Windows 7 is like Vista, but much better. It's what Vista should have been for sure, it's fast and it's good. I game on my Windows 7 machine just fine. In fact, I prefer it, I haven't booted out of Windows 7 for more than a few mins after I installed the beta. And this is coming from someone who has XP, Vista (x64) and Windows 7 (beta 7000/32bit) installed on the...
Blademask, don't forget it comes down to the engine as well. Unreal technology is very big on streaming, you get short load times but a bit of texture pop in. My guess is Bioshock has the install just to reduce this pop-in. It'd probably work without one, but the texture pop in would take away from the atmosphere of the game. Even with the 360's DVD drive, many UE3 games have terrible pop-in, so it makes sense to me.
Still, blaming this game's short SP on the 360 is simply absurd...
I've got both consoles. But apparently some of you seem to think that every single owner of the console must have the EXACT same taste in games or something. Heaven forbid someone is a fan of a series or just happens to like a game that many others do not.
It's simple, they should want it because it's good for the platform. Even if you don't like JRPGs, even if you don't like Star Ocean or Squeenix, you should want as many games as you can get on your favourite console, because the people that DO like the game will buy it and strengthen the console as a whole.
I fully believe without a shadow of a doubt that Mass Effect 2 will make it's way to the PS3 at some point. Without a shadow of a doubt.
However, this is what I'd call "Grasping at straws". So it's coming to the PS3 because it DIDN'T mention the 360? It didn't mention the PS3 either, nor did it mention the PC. We all know it's coming, there's no need to waste precious bandwidth with stuff like this.
With a comment like "makes CPUs explode", do you expect us to take YOU seriously?
Microsoft doesn't copy Apple any more than Apple copies anyone else. I'm sorry, but that's business. If a competitor comes out with a better product, even if it's only better in one specific area, you don't sit back and think "Well, good for them!" unless you want sales of your own product to drop - you make your product better and usually making something better means doing something the competition is doing.
Apple does this as well, by the way.
They have PLENTY of room for both. If space was an issue, they'd dump a bunch of the older titles to make room for the newer ones that are both sure to sell.
myothercar: If there's any truth to this article (And I doubt there is, but lets assume it's correct), it's more than likely a managerial policy than simple store clerk idiocy. IF there's any truth to this, there must simply be higher profit margins on 360 games for the stores or something (Maybe Sony charges a few bucks more for the blu-ray disk? Who knows?), in other words it's not the ignorance of the store, it's the greed. Some fat cat manager worked out that a shelf of 360 games brings i...
Yeah I'd also call bs on this claim as well. I've never went into a store that sells games and found it to only cater to the 360 or the PS3.
In fact, this generation has been more even in terms of shelf space for the two as well. I remember back in the day, the PS2 section would be twice the size of the Xbox section, but this time they're usually more or less the same. Occasionally you get a store with maybe one extra shelf for the 360, but then across the street, you'll find another st...
I thought PC and PS3 versions worked together? Or was that just certain servers or something?
What game and genre are you talking about?
tintin, you would have made an excellent point had I have said that Halo Wars was the best Console RTS out there.
I never said it was the best, what I said was they made a game that was a more casual RTS, a game that people who weren't big on RTSs with depth could pick up and enjoy without much trouble. Yeah, if you are big on RTS games, you're only going to see it as a dumbed-down RTS without much depth - a lot of FPS fans (particularly those on PCs) said the same about Halo (Af...
They already are back under a different name. In fact, they're doing support for Halo Wars and everything.
Perhaps revolutionise is the wrong term, but I think it definitely does a lot for Console RTS. Until now, Console RTSs have been little more than PC RTSs with a weird control scheme. Pretty much every Console RTS claimed to have a control scheme that "worked well" on consoles, but I think there's more to it than that.
On a PC, it's pretty easy to micro manage. You've got all sorts of key combinations you can use to trail troops, designate them a team/regiment, build your base,...
"Just like RE5."
Holy moly, how did you get hold of the final retail version of the game to be able to make such a claim? Hell, do you even have review code? Because nobody does, yet, as far as I'm aware.
On a sales-to-consoles-sold ratio, that's pretty good for SO4, but then again I'd imagine that most people who own a 360 in Japan do so for the JRPGS.
It'll be interesting to see how the Console sales are affected.
The only secret here, apparently, is where the Caps-lock key is.
