@jmare - it's not really as simple as that. In the EU, there's often different versions of games released for the UK, France, Italy, Germany and Spain. Australia is often seen as a different market as well (it usually gets things later than anyone), Korea/China is separate from Japan and then you've got a lot of "lesser" markets - South Africa, India, Russia, etc.
"only"? Considering that's just one market out of at least 20 or 30 (if not more, depending on how publishers like to split the world up), I'd say it plays a considerable role in the grand scheme of things.
I suppose that's why the 360's sales rose by a good 30% last month?
How much did the PS3's rise?
I'm not picking a fight, just fanboys like you irritate me. Compared to the Wii, neither the 360 nor the PS3 is impressive. Is it so hard to take that both consoles are incredibly evenly matched? Will it really get your back up knowing that you'd be in the same position right now if you'd bought the other one?
Why must you hose the walls with testosterone? Why can't...
It takes YEARS to make an MMO. I mean it takes at LEAST 2 years these days to make a solid regular game, but an MMO? Much longer. Diablo 3 isn't even out yet and Blizzard don't make a habit of releasing sequels or spin-offs or anything like that all that often. If there is a Diablo MMO, I wouldn't expect it this decade, I'd say you're talking 2011 or 2012 at the earliest and even then I'd be surprised as I'm pretty sure the next MMO from Blizzard will be Starcraft.
I like my free health insurance.
Completely agree. Australia gets it worse than any other PAL region, but even in the UK (probably one of the "better" PAL regions) we get screwed over all the time.
Nintendo screws us - our Nintendo store (the place you spend your points that you get with all nintendo stuff) is a joke, the only worthwhile content on it are some Wii points that are stupidly overpriced (And under-supplied).
Sony Screws us - The EU PSN has only a fraction of the content that t...
I'm only 21 (22 in 1 week!) and I've been gaming since I was 3. I don't intend to ever stop. In fact, I'm planning to go the whole hog and make them for a living (I already have worked on a couple of released titles, post-release at least and there's a title being published later this year that I've worked on). Doubt I'll be the next Peter Molyneux, but games are in my blood and if I'm not playing them when I'm older, I'll be making them.
Gamer4lyfe, yo.
Well. Unles...
It still plays 99% of 360 games out there.
The lost and the damned certainly did NOT cause this. Think about it - it's an expansion to an already released game. Who's going to think "Omg, The Lost and the Damned! I must buy a 360 to play this!"? A few diehard GTA fans that only owned PS3s? I doubt it, we all knew the DLC was coming. If someone was a GTA fan, they'd have bought a console to play GTA4 by now.
Halo Wars, again, isn't really the kind of thing to shift consoles. Halo 3 would have done that, if anyone...
You spin me right round, baby, right round!
Oh wait. You don't.
Spin harder.
Not likely, the E74 is not a new error at all, it was just overshadowed by the RROD. Plus, as the ARTICLE states, many people are still reporting the RROD post-NXE, so if Microsoft did change something, what gives?
Considering the "peak" reports of E74 in this article are 15 in one month, out of what, 25-30MILLION consoles out there (Conservative estimates of 25million consoles puts that at a MASSIVE 0.00006% failure rate), I'd say this is hyperbole designed to get hits...
In other words, you didn't "get" the game. That's fine, it's not for everyone.
MLB 2k9 is what I'm thinking of. My mistake for thinking it was EA, though, I don't care for baseball games, I don't even come from America =P
I think there's 2 different series with the same license?
The game was brilliantly executed and (if you finished it) very thought provoking. I scoffed at the 1200 point price tag, but to be honest I've probably had 10 times as much enjoyment out of those 1200 points than even the best 800 point games I've bought, hell even many of the full priced retail games I've bought.
I don't like the developer behind it very much, but I do think it's a quality title.
Part of it's charm is just how difficult and frustrating the game really is...
You didn't play the game that much, did you? It's not even really a platform game, it's a puzzle game. The whole mario thing was deliberate, it's meant to be philosophical. The whole "princess is in another castle" part is a crucial plot element to the game.
You make it sound like MS are the only company that uses brands these days. Yes, Halo is a brand (A very successful brand) and yes, Microsoft is making the most of it, but that doesn't take away from the game AT ALL. Killzone is a brand, one could easily argue that if Killzone 2 was ANY other generic shooter, it wouldn't have sold so well. The same can be said for Mario and Zelda. Hell, the same can be said for SONY and NINTENDO. If any other company had released a console identical to the PS...
From the sounds of it, it looks like it's going to be turn based like older FF games, but each "turn" lets you do so much. So the logic is simple, it takes less effort to say...use a potion than it does to cast a spell or something. So we may be able to chain together a bunch of "lesser" moves or use a really big one, but you may also get bonuses for using certain moves in combination. That's how I interpreted it and I think it'd work quite well.
I think anyone directly comparing KZ2 to Halo Wars is just looking for a fight. One's an FPS, ones an RTS. Sure, many gamers play several genres, but chances are each game is going to appeal to a particular audience more than the other.
They're both good games, they both sold well, I don't really see the need to pick them apart.
Yeah because the two games are SO similar!
