Insomnium, you'll have to provide some figures, not raw speculation.

Trebius, you should read the WHOLE of my comment and not just stop at the part where I compared BR to DVD.

I specifically stated that if we assumed both read data at IDENTICAL rates, then GAME data would take longer to load if it was uncompressed. I also stated that for video, this isn't an issue because you only need to play the video at a specific speed, but with game data, you need to load it as fast as possible or you'll end up with longer loading times.

And I ne...

"sorry but anything that has to be compressed = lower quality...case closed PS3 version FTW "

What makes you think the PS3 version will be any less compressed than the 360 version? Sure, the BR disk is larger, but it can't stream data as quickly. But for the sake of argument, lets assume the BR drive in the PS3 reads data at the exact same speed as the 360's DVD drive. If PS3 textures are uncompressed, they'll be larger. A lot larger. If a texture is twice as large, tha...

I do own a PS3 actually and I've not had any issues with it yet. I was not implying in any way that the PS3 is problematic, just that it DOES have problems as all electronics do.
Also, the YLOD can be caused by numerous issues, heat is just one of them. Googling "PS3 Yellow light" gets a variety of people having issues - many of which are not heat related.

Graphics Whore replied to the wrong thread and because he ran out of bubbles, had to PM me his response. I'll put it here since he can't:

" Ahaha, Killzone 2 does real time ray tracing.
Enough said, little one, you don't know anything about computers, don't pretend to. I will eat you and spit you out. "

Yeah, apparently I look like a failure and don't know how to use computers. At least I know how to use a simple messageboard system!

Now,...

This isn't an unknown issue, MS never once indicated that you had a 3 year warranty for anything other than the RROD - if anyone did this, it was the media. It's a standard 1 year warranty for anything else - and that's the exact same warranty both the PS3 and Wii have (At least in the EU, as there's laws to enforce a minimum 1 year warranty on all electronics).

Because the PS3 is completely immune to hardware issues?

All electronics have issues, the 360's issues are just a bit more widespread. I know a couple of people who've had their PS3 die in some way (the Blu-ray drive seems to be the biggest failure, but it has the odd other issue as well and it's own kind of RROD called the Yellow Light of Death).

Your bragging is just asking for a Karmatic slap =P

"Xbox 360 can't even process real-time ray tracing and you wanna talk graphics and computer development in this century? Haha, you must be a kid."

The PS3 can't do it, either. GO ahead and find that youtube video showing the PS3 doing realtime ray-tracing. Then look for the other one that shows it's actually being run on THREE PS3's.
Sure, you could say it's "real time" when running at sat 5-10FPs, but in that case the 360 CAN do Real time ray tracing. H...

It's all highly Ironic considering that if it wasn't for Sex, we all wouldn't be here today, but the same can't necessarily be said for violence (We might still be around, but just be speaking a different language or something).

Apples and oranges comparison, you can't really directly compare a Wii and a PS2 since their architecture are so different, but a Gamecube is more "powerful" than a PS2 in terms of the games it can do (Example: RE4 - the PS2 version had reduced texture and lighting quality, as well as pre-rendered cut-scenes) and a Wii is about 1.5x more powerful than a Gamecube.

Foxgod, are you sure? MGS directly references the first two metal gear games (not "Snakes Revenge", though, that IS a spinoff). Snake specifically states that he's run into Metal Gear "A couple of times", he also mentions the Zanzibar incident with Grey Fox, which occurs in Metal Gear 2.
Plus, although this is a little tenuous, in Metal Gear Solid on the PSX, there's a little section with info on Solid Snake, including "previous operations", which are text ...

I wouldn't mind more games of that genre, though. There's something about MGS, something about the gameplay that other games in the same genre don't seem to do the same. I don't know, I can't explain it, it's like MGS has a certain "feel" to it that no other game does.
I'd quite happily take more of that, but in a different universe or something. Different characters, new plot, new story, etc.

It doesn't matter what Kojima wants, Konami are the ones that call the shots at the end of the day. They've let Kojima pretty much do what he wants for a while now because he always delivers them a hit, but as times go on and development costs increase, eventually it's going to get to the point where it only makes sense for Konami to make it multi-platform.

Might not even be this generation, but it will happen.

Technically, you can do all that on just about ANY machine that has Linux on it, just it'll be a bit slower (or faster, depending on what machine it is - I dare say a Cray supercomputer would be a teeny bit faster =P).

I do find it interesting that it takes THREE PS3's tied together in order to do real-time ray-tracing (Without ANY other elemends of a game, such as AI, physics, etc.), yet there are actually people out there who believe KZ2 is real-time ray-traced =\

Unless you have unlimited funds, that "classic console" could be worth a new game! Not a bad trade if your older games could still be played ;)

If my PS3 had PS2 compatibility, you can bet your arse I'd use it.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that would.

In the UK, there are actually laws against news sources being biased, at least when on TV. If you compare Sky News to Fox news, they'll seem COMPLETELY different, but they're both owned by the same parent company.
