I don't think so, if it was they'd be claiming responsibility for it and considering there isn't about 50 stories on the front page with "anonymous" in the title, you can safely bet they're probably not involved.
I wrote an article a while ago speculating on the future of games consoles and I pinned 8Gb as being the standard.

Glad to see I'm not far off, if Crytek get their way.
512Mb of RAM was a lot back in 2005, at least for consoles. By Today's standards, it does seem small, but you have to think back 6 years and what RAM cost back then. Don't forget, the PS3 was already quite expensive when it launched and the 360 wasn't much cheaper - both causing a loss of MS and Sony at the time of release. Doubling the RAM would have added at least £50 to the price tag.
Misleading article is misleading.
They use a screenshot of Xbox Backup Creator as "proof" of the 8.5Gb limit, yet they left out some painful details -
1) XBC was not designed to rip those "new" format disks (XGD3, for the uninformed), it would need to be updated. It's still expecting a regular DVD.
2) XBC relies on having EITHER a "KREON" drive (modified samsung drive) or a modified Xbox 360 drive to work. The catch? ...
This article is utter bull.
"In addition to the new anti-piracy check, the DVD firmware on every drive of the Xbox 360 will be rewritten."
This statement has been plucked from thin air. There is absolutely no citation for this, no proof and lets be honest - if it were possible before, why hasn't Microsoft done it by now? Particularly as the "AP2.5" checks they implemented back in November weren't possible on Older Samsung or Hitach...
You're all arguing about the same stuff that gets argued day in and day out on this site, when the article has absolutely nothing to do with it. You're all either trolls or feeding the trolls.
It's up! http://n4g.com/news/735081/...
If you like the article, remember there's a part 1 to go with it!

The PC version has the worst graphics of them all. Especially the original, unpatched version that had NO LIGHTING WHAT SO EVER. It was an absolute disgrace of a port.
@macezhno
I am by no means defending the points system, I also hate it, but part of the reason the points are "off" is because the points system is an international currency. It might seem like they're random numbers, but an 800 point item in the USA is 800 points in Europe and Japan. If they'd made it (for example) 1000 points = $10, then it would be like £6.42 or €7.12 and such.
Stupid article is stupid.
"The other two platforms already have achievments installed, so porting these over would be simple. The effort? Nearly nothing. The cost? An hours debate of rather or not the intern doing it will get paid or not.""
Porting would be simple? Ha! The code has long since been branched off for the PS3, using a PS3 SDK that DID NOT HAVE TROPHIES, it would require porting over to the latest SDK for a start, then clearing up t...
People seem to hold on to the argument that installs are better than multiple disks, but how many 360 games actually require multiple disks versus the PS3 games that require installs?
Installs should be entirely optional. I don't care if it takes twice as long to load, I just want to play the game, then install it when I've got a bit of spare time. How many 360 owners install a game before they even play it?
GT5 irritated the hell out of me. It took ages to install and...
Back in my day, one of the advantages of owning a Console over a PC was that you didn't have to install games.
You're right that the description isn't 100% accurate, however I was trying to keep the (already slightly oversized) article as simple as possible, so as many people as possible could read and "get" it.
One might argue that if the PS3 was easier to develop, then you'd have more games like Uncharted and KZ2. Not saying that's what I think, but it's something worth thinking about.
"What a pathetic, sick, sad f*@# "
How is that "sick"? What's "sick" about it? Is he harming anyone? Is anyone in danger because of him? You make it sound like he's fiddling kids or something. All this guy has done is work on reverse engineering the PS3's hypervisor so that he can get a fully unrestricted version of Linux running. He hasn't actually released any modified firmwares or anything like that, all his work revolves purel...
You OWN the Hardware, you LICENSE the software. It's your hardware to do with as you please, however Sony owns the software. Any modification of the software is probably in violation is Sony's T's&C's, however the legality of this is in question. Distribution of modified sony software is definitely illegal due to copyright. Distribution of a linux distro that happens to run on a PS3, however, is not, as it doesn't use any of Sony's software, just the hardware that ...
Considering the guy doesn't know that the team that began all this is called "fail0verflow and not "FAIL0VERTHROW", it would seem this "lawyer" doesn't actually know what he's talking about, or at the very least has only taken a passing glance at the whole ordeal. Let's have a look -
"can GeoHot do whatever he wants with his PS3, that he bought and paid for? The simple answer is no, in the same way that you can’t do whatever you w...
What did he steal, then? What "private copyrighted" information are you referring to? Encryption keys are not copyrighted.
That's not the full video, this is:
http://www.youtube.com/watc...
It's called "Haloid" Because it features both Master Chief and Samus. But even if you don't like either game, it's a great video.
