Sony took away OtherOS.
Nobody is debating anything you're talking about. All we're saying is that Microsoft seems to have planned out a lot of the features well in advance while Sony played catch up. Not saying Sony are behind today or that it's a bad thing to want to take the best features the competition has and implement them yourself, just that if you want to bash Microsoft, at least give them credit where it's due.
Because Trophies were patched on top of the PS3 years after it came out. Achievements were part of the 360 from the get go, which is why all 360 games have them. Give Microsoft some credit with the 360 - the thought ahead for a lot of its features, some of which Sony had to patch in after (Ingame XMB, cross-game chat, messaging, etc.)
You mean they were willing to make deals in the first place?
Can anyone find a single CREDIBLE source for this? Haven't seen or heard of this yet and nobody I know with (the 360 version of) LA Noire has had this issue.
Not looking to start a fight, but as people have pointed out, this article seems a little off. Just want another site that has some credibility to report it, or a recall from one of the stores mentioned or SOMETHING to back it up.
COD was just an example.
It means that when you're Playing COD and someone starts doing impossible things, they're probably running a modified PS3 firmware.
I think the PS3 has had a really tough time. Some of that can be attributed to Sony's mistakes and some of it can be attributed to luck, but I think it's incredible how Sony has handled each situation. Some of those issues would have killed any other console, but not the PS3.
Before anyone asks, I wrote this. I genuinely think its pretty fair throughout and most people think it's a great read. However by all means, any feedback is welcome.
What, no Aeris?
No, it's factually correct. Sony didn't allow OtherOS on the Slims, that's what kicked it all off. And besides, no matter what Geohot did, Sony had no reason to remove otheros. If you actually research what happened, the "hack" was practically useless and removing OtherOS clearly didn't prevent anything, it just pissed off more people. Blame Geohot all you want, but you can't keep blaming him for stuff like this, for Sony's sheer incompetence.
Sony removed OtherOS from the Slims before Geohot went near the PS3.
Why I do believe you are talking out of your arse.
I know Sony didn't hack themselves, but they were warned about this MONTHS AGO when people were hacking the hell out of the PS3. They were warned about sending CREDIT CARD DATA in plaintext over the internet, they were warned about their security being compromised and what did they do? Nothing. Oh, except sue everyone that looked like they were involved with it, pissing off the very people capable of actually attacking th...
THis is not the people that did the hack. This is also OLD OLD OLD!

Look at that, dated February 16.

"Like many Steam promotions, the Potato Sack offered a collection of games at a huge discount."
So what's the problem? If anyone bought the potato sack in the hope of getting portal 2 a day or two early, that's their own silly fault, but in the end you got a host of great games at a fantastic discount AND the chance to bag portal 2 a bit earlier. I don't see the problem.
Apparently you don't know the difference between a "Master key" and a service jig. You also have little idea of how the PS3 was actually hacked, be it the PSJAILBREAK or otherwise.
I don't know why there's a million articles about "anonymous", giving them all this publicity is doing them good, it's what they want.
It's also pointless, these "Statements" don't mean anything. Anonymous isn't a single organisation, it's a bunch of people, some of whom believe and say one thing, some of whom say and believe another. There's no coherence there, that's why on the front page we have a report saying Anonymous will ...
Outages of this length are totally unacceptable. I know people are going to chime in with various things like "Well PSN is free, so..." or "Just go outside for once" and all that kind of thing, but really, you bought the PS3 to play games and in the UK, it's a bank holiday weekend, a lot of people are going to be upset at not being able to game online.
It doesn't matter what brought PSN down, but why has it taken so long to get it back? Where are t...
I know, it's ridiculous, how dare people have different opinions than you? It's absurd!
