This might sound crazy, but even though we all KNOW the slim exists, we don't actually know that much about the console. I wouldn't hedge my bets either way just yet, for all we know the BR drive is rubbish or the overall build quality is poor or something. Pretty unlikely, but with developers and consumers alike screaming for a price cut, who knows what Sony might do.
3-4 years? Probably not, a more realistic projection is that in 3-4 years the Average mid/high-end PC will have about the same processing power as this (3-4 years ago, a high end server would have maybe 4 processors, now quad core machines are commonplace on desktops).
I think the biggest limitation this generation has is the GPU. I mean, even with the power of the CELL in the PS3, the GPU really holds the console back. Not trying to say that it's inferior to another console, I just mea...
According to the picture, he's got 24Gb.
The really obscene thing is that this git stuck 2 of them together to have a (12x2) 24core machine.

I got the special "twatty" edition of the first game, the one with the Altair figurine (I believe the US edition only got a small one, ours was a large 30cm figure) and surprisingly, it did NOT come with the "tin" edition of Assassin's creed. In fact, it came with a "Bundle copy" of the game, which I was quite miffed about. You'd think someone spending £70 on a frickin' special edition would get a decent box for the game, at least the same decent box that th...
Lets continue speculating instead of just waiting to see!
We all know its coming, it's just a matter of when.
Also, 18th of august? That's 2 weeks away! Since when was a fortnight "just days away"?
Going by that logic, Christmas is "just days away".
The real interesting part is that this format is essentially HD-DVD with a few tweaks and changes.
"yes but making there software more powerful with less problems like bluescreens and such
wont hurt "
You mean by constantly maintaining, supporting, updating and upgrading their software? That's a great idea!
Oh wait, they already do that. Every month, they release new fixes and updates to their OS's (and often their office suite - the two biggest pieces of software they have). And they've recently completed Windows 7, widely stated to be the best version o...
See the problem is, when vista launched it WAS a mess. But that was (literally) years ago and quite a lot has changed since then. For example, Drivers are not really an issue these days, unless you have particularly old hardware from a particularly poor manufacturer. And in actual fact, a very little known fact, Vista can actually use XP-based drivers. Yes, it's true, you don't necessarily NEED a "vista" based driver for Vista, although it will be a lot better if you had one.

There's only so much software in the world, for Microsoft to continue to grow, they need to diversify into other markets. That's why they have their fingers in so many pies.
"The announcement marked the first time in its 34 years Microsoft had seen its business shrink from one year to the next."
Yeah, the first and ONLY time this has happened in 34 years, during a bloody recession, and people are claiming that the company is doomed and destined for failure? Uhh, if this happens 2 or 3 years in a row, particularly during a recovering economy, start asking questions why.
But lets face it, one of their biggest money makers is Windows, bu...
....I knew that >_>
This is not just Xbox 360 news, it applies to the PS3 as well.
This article (particularly the title) is actually pretty misleading. I listened to that entire podcast last night and Stephen Toulouse never once said that they were "ramping up" anything.
In fact, what he actually said was that dealing with phishers doesn't take up a lot of time for his team, he just wanted people to be aware of how phishing scams tend to work and how Microsoft deals with it. Then he talked about how nudity on the Xbox Live Vision camera is dealt with (It's a...
"It also doesn't help Microsoft that their most anticipated Xbox 360 exclusive, Splinter Cell: Conviction"
That's their most anticipated Exclusive? Ummm, I don't think so. How about ODST, Forza 2 or even Mass Effect 2? I think they're WAY more anticipated than Splinter Cell.
500Mb is absolutely pathetic! You would actually be better off on dialup.
Piracy is an unfortunate side effect of the efforts from people to truly unlock the potential of these devices.
I shouldn't have to post links, pics, comments, etc. for a statement that's blindingly obvious. Maybe you're just incredibly young and naive about how all these screenshots and stuff get made, and why, but I've got the strangest feeling that you're trying to back-pedal because I completely and utterly called you out on your obvious fanboy dribble.
Yeah, the 360 is the ONLY console that has ultra-high resolution pics of its games released for the press. It's all big bad Microsoft...
Well ok, if you insist...

Actually, a single-core machine can have any number of threads running, in fact you've probably got hundreds running right now. There's a difference between a "core" and a LOGICAL core. CPU-Z changed the term to "thread" to avoid the confusion between the two. "Core" is referring to how many cores the OS can see, in this case 24, even though there's only 12 logical cores.
