Well done, whoever did this. I'm sure you're the same kind of people who cry foul when Edge or whomever didn't quite give Killzone 2 the score you were expecting (which for some people, anything less than 10/10 is a crime of biblical proportions). Do you know what you've done now? Your claim of "the media is biased!" may once have been justified, but at least you could rely on the masses to give honest votes and let that be the real judge. Now you've taken that and destroyed it, now...
Is that why you don't know where the "reply" button is?
There's nothing wrong with the CELL itself, it's not difficult to program for a CELL microprocessor, the problem simply lies in the fact that there were 7 of them and that IS hard to program a game for. The CELL was designed to work like that, unlike dual core processors in PC's, the CELL was designed to easily expand - you could easily make a system with 500 CELL SPU's in it, but if Sony released a PS4 with say 20 SPU's, it would be just as hard to program for then as it is to program for th...
Intel wont be looking to do the CPU in the PS4, they'll be aiming for the GPU slot of it, which given what Intel plans with Larrabee, would work out quite well for everyone.
Larrabee isn't actually a GPU, per se, it's like a stupidly fast FPU (basically what a graphics card is) that can be programmed to do just about anything - including graphics. Intel claims it'll be powerful enough to run DirectX and OpenGL applications as fast as whatever Nvidia has on offer, by simply programming a...
Uhhh guys, I don't really want to get into a debate about Killzone 2 deserving a higher score or whatever, but you should realise that you can't really directly compare an FPS to an RTS like Halo Wars - they're entirely different genres and although you might like both, you're bound to have a preference for one over the other. An RTS fan is obviously going to get more out of Halo Wars than an FPS fan and vice versa, so at least try to take the scores in context - Edge believes that Halo Wars ...
Unfortunately it's extremely difficult to not be biased in just about any circumstance. Even some fanboys are biased against their console or game of choice because they want it to succeed so badly, it gets people in all sorts of ways, but generally everyone has some bias in them.
People have probably noticed that my own bias lies towards the 360, but I'm also one of the first to call out Microsoft when they make mistakes - overpriced Live, the HDMI audio fix that took 3 months to appea...
therealest - regardless of what score it got in whatever mag, whether it was a 7/10 or a 10/10, until you've actually played the full game, you cannot claim it's "GOTY", nor can you claim the score is "wrong" (Aside from the fact that it's all opinion anyway). Save it for when the game is on shelves and you actually know the score.
Since the NXE, the ads have been a lot better, they're pretty much contained within one section of the Dash. Admittedly, it's the default section you start up, but one press up and you're at "my xbox", which contains everything you need and no ads as far as I can tell.
Cross-game chat isn't for everyone, but it's still handy even when you're all playing the same game, for example when you decide to change game modes, in some games this means dropping out of the lobby and selec...
PSN's getting better, but it's really not on par with Live just yet. I agree the difference doesn't justify $50, but cross-game chat alone is very very handy. Quite regularly, I'll be in a party with friends playing COD5 and another friend will jump in for a chat while playing GoW2.
Apart from that, I don't really think PSN has anything missing and I'm sure we'll see such features get added later this year.
I do think it'll eventually be free for online play at least, but I...
Call me insane, but I'd say it's probably harder to develop a decent game on a seriously limited platform (like set top boxes) than it is programming for the PS3 (since it's notoriously difficult).
This is a fine example of taking things out of context.
In the article, he explains that this was originally going to be a PC game, but then they decided to try a demo on the PS3 and that's where the "PS3's Power Worked Better" quote comes from. He doesn't mention the 360 at all and judging the rather mediocre screenshots and info we've seen so far, this game doesn't look to be anything special.
Still, no doubt some idiot will try to compare it to Gears of War an...
And this time last year, about the only things announced were Lost Odyssey and GTAIV (with it's dlc that nobody seems to care about), all the big hitters really came out at E3, I would expect the same this year.
But the whole question of "Can MS stay competitive?" is ridiculous, of course they can, they've got a far bigger back catalogue of games than the PS3 has and it's cheap. I mean, look at all the success and praise Halo 1 got on the original Xbox, it was getting G...
"what you read was from somebody else. It seems hiphopgamer has his own site where people randomly blog because this is the 2nd or 3rd story to come from that site and it lists the name as somebody else."
And yet it's all sensationalist crap designed to do one thing: Get ad clicks.
The PS3's sales are quite close to the Wii's sales, but interestingly that could even mean that the 360 outsells the Wii when Star Ocean gets released, it barely needs to triple it's weekly sales at this rate. Might only happen once, but it'd still be pretty spectacular since it's Japan.
RE5's controls are part of the bloody game, they're designed that way to make the swarms of "Zombies" (or whatever you want to call them) more thrilling as they get closer and closer.
If you want to run and gun down hoards of them, go play L4D. Re4 has the same controls and was one of THE best games of the last generation, I fail to see the problem.
andyo13, how come it's America's fault for wanting to download a demo of the most anticipated PS3 game...probably ever, yet it's not Sony's fault for not having enough bandwidth to cope from the expected demand, or even for doing the stupid pre-order code in America thing at all?
I have to agree, the demo didn't do much for me either, I didn't see anything new or particularly "revolutionary" in there, it just seemed like a bog standard FPS with really nice visuals and unfortunately, visuals alone don't sell a game for me.
It's still on my preorder list, but I have to say the demo was a little disappointing. Maybe it was just too short for my liking.
I don't think this is news at all. As a student, I get FREE Microsoft software - including all varients of XP Professional and Vista business, so no doubt Windows 7 professional will be in there. I don't know any students that don't have access to this.
Yeah but the above poster was only saying that Larrabee will be better than Intel's current GPUs and I think that's a fair comment.
I never meant to imply they were the only ones doing it, I was simply implying that the ones doing it have done nothing to help their "cause", only hamper it.
