They should outright call the information totally baseless and bunk and state that they are pursuing the perpetrator of the fabrication.
If there is any hint whatsoever that the price is coming down, people will wait. They either have to completely and forcefully debunk it or make the cut... I don't know why sony allows these rumors to float in the air like they do... It's hurting the system.

There is a pretty good library of original xbox games... if they made an xbox mini and it drew less than 75 watts or so, I'd buy one in a heartbeat and put it in my van to play on the drop down LCD...
Same screen and split screen multiplayer is my favorite mode of play. I always buy that type of game first and then reluctantly will buy a single player one... I don't do online game as I don't have the time to plan ahead and I hate all the 12 year old potty mouths online.

They really need to step up and clearly and definitively state that there is no price cut, the rumors are false, and threaten the publishers of the rumors -- if they are in fact false... People will put off buying a console if they think they will get it much cheaper in the near future...
If the price cut rumor is true, they need to go ahead and do it. Announce it in a big way and start the media blitz... ads, store promotions, online specials, whatever... but push it in a bi...
Maybe Sony is Planning this today or tomorrow to try to counter Halo 3 hype and keep a few people from buying a 360 console...
Gears and Oblivion are still selling -- quite some time later -- but the console base is quite a bit smaller than when Halo 2 came out for the Xbox. Ultimately H2 sold something like 8.5 million units. The attach rate for H3 will have to be quite a bit higher to reach 10M units even over a significant amount of time. Hopefully it does as MS needs to earn back some of their lost monies and I'd like to see a stellar record set that will stand for some time...
The Tomb Raider series is pretty darn tired. I don't know that I'd spend money on this franchise as I don't see how it will ever net a huge return for the buyer. This is one of those IPs that needs to be retired...
Seriously... There have been half a dozen or so threads all with the basic premise of "Halo 3: will it save the 360?" I wasn't aware the 360 needed saving yet so many of these articles imply that it does. It is doing pretty well for a $400 console and will do better as prices come down. As far as next gen goes, I don't consider the Wii and 360 as competing for the same dollars.
All that said, Halo 3 will certainly help Microsoft in a pretty big way overall, but no ...
The demo was fun as hell... It's overpriced given the length of the campaign, but the game is a mindless shooter with some cool effects and is a helluva lot of fun to play. Don't knock it until you try it... It's max payne on steroids.
Goodness... the anti-Halo sony force is out in force in this thread... Just a quick note... Nothing you Halo Haters can do or say at this point will stop this game from being a phenomenal commercial success. Give it a rest and find something productive to complain about.
I shouldn't even post here, but Forza 2 is a great game. Period. Will GT5 beat it? We won't know until it is out. Remember that gameplay rules over graphics. There is no way in hell Halo 3 *by itself* is going to move 5 million consoles... Isn't going to happen. I'm a *huge* 360 supporter and Halo fan, but I do happen to live in the real world. I suspect that Halo 3 will be solely responsible for moving a few hundred thousand units over a few months but it is all the other stuff, in combination, that moves the hardware... Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, Gears, Bioshock, and so on...

I do disagree with Halo 2 sucking though (in campaign mode). I know people were disappointed with the ending, but there was a lot less repetition and backtracking in Halo 2 than 1 and for that, I enjoyed 2 more...
