The WiiU has a chance to sell better than the Gamecube, without the gamepad it will stand no chance. The Gamecube was on-par graphically with a strong first party line-up and at $100 less than the competition. But since it had poor 3rd party and no DVD player it fell beind the competition. Like the GC, WiiU has no special appeal without the gamepad and lacks a hardcore game support from 3rd parties.

Am I the only one who wishes home consoles would come in more colors? I remember previews for the Wii showing Black, Green and Red Ones, yet the all were white for the first several years. The last console to have multiple colors was the Gamecube (though sadly they never did release the color I wanted, red)

It helps they have the highest rated game of the generation, plus an actual WiiU marketing campaign for once. Nintendo would be foolish not to have a 3DWorld bundle this christmas (think red gamepad)
My only concern is thay haven't built up the game base significantly since last year. A lot of people might look at the WiiU and ask "so what else is there".

I wouldn't be surprised if they used one voice actor for the majority of sscripted dialogue. For all the effort put into environments, weapons, and functions you think they could hire more voice actors, or at least have the ones they do actually try to sound different from NPC to NPC
While the extra $100 will hurt X1 sales for the time being, in the long run I think it will be a successful approach, provided Kinect doesn't stagnate. The PS3 was released $100 more than the 360 on the premise of better graphics and Blu-ray, and as we see now the PS3 has aligned with the 360 in sales despite the cost and release date differences.
MS needs to continue to push the Kinect into new directions. Voice commands are cool but unless it grows into better control...

Damn, the review was pretty brutal, but I can see how the gameplay can get a bit stale overtime. Guard and hack, slow-mo into QTE, repeat. Tbh the multiplayer looked more impressive than the single player, the changing environments and the need to manage incoming waves rather than fighing one enemy at a time looked appealing.
