It all depends on what you mean by "winning". Sales wise? No. Profit wise? No. Best 1st party games? That's debatable/depends on everyone's personal preference. Best new IP? Also debatable.
A 3-D Zelda Maker? I highly doubt it would work that well. 2-D? Maybe, but Zelda is a lot more complicated than Mario. Making Zelda-type puzzles and enemies can't really be done with a "maker" game in my opinion.
How about the Forza/Fifa/AC/Cod that's milked every YEAR? Not to mention Halo/Uncharted/Battlefield/Bat tlefront/NFS/Killzone/GOW/ that we see every generation. Everyone does it, I only consider it milking if it's like FIFA/Cod/AC that's made every year.
I personally was expecting an actual game that I could play on my phone while I was out or something, but this "Miitomo" app just doesn't cut it for me, probably for many others too. It seems like it's just a rehash of Miiverse with Facebook features added in. It just doesn't appeal to a lot of people, partly because there are already tons of better social networking apps. I'm slightly disappointed, but maybe it'll be successful. We don't really know much abo...
"Confused to what it actually is and what it will do"
That's because they haven't revealed or said anything about it yet. No one's supposed to know what it can do. What we do know is that there will be a home console NX that plays video games. What's confusing about that?
And don't even complain about "rehashed" games when everyone else is just making another AC, COD, Far Cry, FIFA, Forza, Uncharted, Gears, Halo, Battle...
Am I the only one bothered by the fact that he said he wants their IP to "better reach more CHILDREN"?
My only qualm about all these rumors is why the hell are they running NX tech demos on a PC? Isn't that what the NX is for? To run its own software?
I do hope Ninty makes the NX powerful and gets 3rd parties back. That would eliminate my need to own more than one console.
It should at the very least be on par, though more powerful would help a lot. Make the best third party experiences on the NX and PS/XBox gamers may just switch to buying third party games on it. MAYBE. The only problem is price. With the tech now they could probably sell a console on par or even slightly more powerful for around $300-$350. Would probably have to sell at a slight loss at first, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
I'm still waiting for Majoras Mask...I've played Ocarina of Time back on the Wii but not Majoras Mask. Been waiting for it to come on VC for so long now. If they did Twilight Princess like they did Windwaker HD that would be pretty cool. Have an option for GamePad controls though, I prefer that more than motion controls.
@kaleb - It would be a lot harder and frustrating to make stages without the touch screen. It's doable, but it would take way longer and wouldn't be nearly as fun.
Zelda is coming to WiiU.They stated that multiple times. Worst case is it ends up with a dual release like Twilight Princess.
Umm no shit? What does "saving" even mean anyway Mr. "Analyst?" Last I heard, Nintendo is making a profit off every WiiU sold, and their software always sells well.
Well according to mynintendonews.com the new president had said that he didn't think the WiiU was going to "take off with consumers" partly because it's name was too close to the Wii. I trust him, and he seems to understand the market a little better. And his old job was director of Nintendo America, so he better understands the western audience too. Only time will tell though.
What I meant to say is the graphics are based a little on realism. That's the reason for all the complaints about the texturing. I was pretty clear about that. Until Dawn is based on realism, Killzone is based on realism. Saying a game is based on realism doesn't mean the story/gameplay/characters are realistic, it's about how they look graphically, a.k.a. The art style. And StarFox doesn't have a super unique art style.
To me it's not so much the graphics, but rather how empty the world seems. In the one demo we saw in space there really wasn't much going on; a generic gray circular space station, few enemy fighters, a plain star studded black background.
I feel like they couldv'e used their imagination more, I mean it's space, there can be so many cool things (nebulas, broken starships, a nearby solar system, etc.) out there that help immerse you in the game.

So he basically says the games success is based on nostalgia. It'll be fun because it has the arwing that "everyone is so familiar with." I'm slightly disappointed. There are amazing games that Nintendo had made this generation, 3D World, Splatoon, Smash, MarioKart, and 3rd/2nd party like Bayonetta 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles X. It just seems like they didn't put very much effort into this game.
I understand and fully believe that visual style trumps real...
So then let's just stop playing video games them. Assassins Creed, COD, FIFA, Halo, Gears of War, GTA, etc. What huge new gameplay elements have they changed? What major innovations to gaming have their sequels done? Not any more than Mario.
Games don't need massive overhauls or gameplay changes. That's what new IP's are for; Splatoon and Bloodborne are good examples. New stories, new environments/level designs, small but innovative gameplay additions are gre...
First off when did apple ever call it a gaming console? It's simply an Apple TV. We could already stream our iPhone games to it, and iOS games simply aren't up to scratch with console games. It's great for the casual gamer, but for anyone that is really into video games an Apple TV isn't going to cut it.
They actually did say it was their next home console. Reggie mentioned it during their E3 conference and they've said multiple times that there will be a home console NX. The latest info on it says that the NX is a family of systems, so there is a handheld NX and a home NX, makes sense with their combing handheld and console departments. It makes developing games for both way easier and cheaper.
I've had it for 3 years now, and I don't regret buying it. Love playing MarioKart with my friends, Smash is awesome and competitive, and Splatoon is one of the best games I've ever played. I'm replaying older Zelda games + remakes, looking forward to Xenoblade in a couple of weeks and maybe StarFox, and definitely Zelda.
It is far from being a great console, but the WiiU has some great titles that I am fully satisfied with. I hope the NX can pick up what the ...
