First off it's not barren and sparse, the treehouse stream shows that, there is plenty to do. Second, it's just a trailer, barely even a gameplay trailer at that. Third, we still don't know anything about the story or characters, which they don't want to spoil. Fourth, the game doesn't release for another 8-9 months, plenty of time to add and improve things.

At this point I dont think they should announce it, since it's not a conference or digital event it's not going to get as much media attention which the NX will desperately need.

Because it's not that great of a game. Simple. Nintendo was throwing all their money on the nostalgia train for this game, which clearly didn't work. Honestly Nintendo needs to stop jumping on the nostalgia train and step up their game.
The game is nearly identical to StarFox 64 in so many ways. Even the graphids are barely an improvement.
Nintendo wasn't competing in this years E3 in the first place. You can't lose a competition you're not competing in. The only announcements they have other than Zelda is the NX and they are clearly not ready to reveal it yet, so it would cause more harm to have an entire digital event or conference dedicated just for Zelda and Pokemon.
He's only called Zelda by the most ignorant non-gamers/extreme casuals. Everyone else knows Link is Link and Zelda is Zelda.

Well I'm not gonna expect much, only thing they have next to announce is NX, and we already know that's not gonna happen for a little while longer.
Umm none of the other developers have any big surprises coming around, majority of the games they announced at last years E3 haven't even released yet, so expect more of those. They've released their schedule, and doesn't look all that promising either.
I mean sure we'll be soooo "excited" to see the next Just Dance. All we see are sequels to mediocre games like Titanfall, not to mention the showing just to talk about new Destiny DLC?
Well considering that they're not even having a life showing, what's there to be disappointed about? We've known for months that e3 is all about Zelda for them. I'm looking forward to it as I'm a huge Zelda fan. They also have plenty of other games to show during the treehouse stream.
Don't go in to it expecting an NX reveal or new FZero or Metroid or something and you'll have a good time. Unless of course you're a Ninty hater spouting your ...
Actually they have...name one developer other than Nintendo that has output more than 10 games in 2016, and name the games.
It's an awesome game. Played over 100 hours and I still have so much left to do.
What about Vainglory? Probably the best mobile game out there. It's a pro esport and everything.
"They don't have the techincal expertise"...that right there just discredited every Nintendo hate comment you've ever made. Making a powerful console is probably the easiest thing any company could do. Nintendo simply decides to come up with new ideas (that aren't always good).
Those "fans" you speak of represent like 5% of the Nintendo fan base. The rest of us understand Ninty's problems, well most of us at least.

They're E3 showing has nothing to do with NX, all their NX info and games are gonna be revealed in the later stages of the year. They have a lot in store for NX, just wait and find out.
Game looks great so far. To everyone complaining about framerate/texture/emptyness, the game don't release for anoth 8 months or so, plenty of time to improve things. And as we know from Nintndo's history the final product almost always is improved over the reveal trailers.
