If they do it right and have a SSB/Amiibo bundle everywhere they could sell lots of units as you've said. Marketing is key and they need to do it right and push the MK8 bundles again close to Christmas. They need to capitalize on the increased interest they had after E3.
My point was that for months we heard that the PS4 was coming, Wii U sucks, PS4 and Xbox One were going to sell like crazy etc but that hasn't happened for Sony in Japan!

At least it will be a big game in January that way right after Christmas. Better January than February or March like it was for DKC:TF this year! 3 months to wait between SM3DW and DKC was ridiculous!
Well, MK8 was out for one month of that quarter and is still selling into the next quarter. The next quarter July to September includes Hyrule Warriors everywhere, Bayonetta 2 & Fatal Frame V in Japan and interest in the Wii U is picking up. Compared to previous periods this is no so awful. Wii U in Japan continues to outsell the PS4 which is very interesting.
The plan makes zero sense. If Wii owners wanted to play older PS games like the Last of Us don't you think they would have purchased a PS3 to play it when it was so popular last year? Think about it.
If you're not getting a Wii U I guess you won't play new Bayonetta 2 - and maybe 3 if that's exclusive to Wii U. The rest of us Wii U owners won't miss that or Devil's Third.
I'd love it to be Bayonetta though I doubt it. Looking forward to Bayonetta 1 & 2 in the fall.
This sounds great but it's too bad we now have to wait longer for it unlike all other systems. It's interesting considering 'it's the closest to being finished as it was developed alongside the PC version'. If that's the case all versions should be delayed to release together. Sadly though that only happens for games coming to PS/Xbox not when it's the Wii U version that needs extra time.
Keep dreaming. PS4 Bayonetta 2, 3 etc will NEVER happen! Nor will updated Bayonetta with Nintendo additions come out on Xbox or PS.
Who knows if this true or what games could be but here's a thought - Tiger Woods games were multiplatform but now he's no longer with EA. They're doing something strange with next PGA golf game with battleships or something. Maybe TW signed a deal with Nintendo. Who knows but I'd love a great golf game on Wii U.
It's shocking that Wii U sales are about 3% considering Wii U sales are about 3% of what PS3/4 and Xbox One/360 are worldwide! What more do they expect??? Until Wii U sales go up (provided they do with big games like MK8 and SSB) the sales on 3rd party games aren't going to go up much. How can they possibly????
It's not that the Wii U doesn't ALREADY have enough games as you listed it's that the gaps between games are ridiculous - SM3DW in December, DKC:TF in February and then MK8 at the end of May!! How does Nintendo expect to sell consoles? Moving Mario Kart 8 up a few weeks in May would even kickstart a big change though I doubt that would happen. The other thing is they haven't really defined what this 'Digital Event' is going to be. If it was another Nintendo Direct like last year they would have said but this sounds like it's bigger than that. Could it be a streamed event with press there so there is a reaction to what they show? Could it be longer than a traditional Direct? Time will tell.
Exactly! Didn't we hear that what happened to Wii U wouldn't happen to PS4 when the 'next-gen' console launched in Japan. When is this supposed to happen btw? Wii U's launch is Japan has been way better than PS4 which is selling like crazy everywhere else!
Bottom line Wii U version should be out first then 3DS version. Big miss by Nintendo as some will be happy with only 3DS version. It will sell units for sure but more if 3DS version was after Wii U.
Titanfall will help especially with the bundle but certainly not like it would if it was ONLY on Xbox One and maybe PC. Putting it on 360 as well just divides MS's own fans and gives them one less reason to upgrade right now from 360.
Next week we'll see if releasing Titanfall on PC, 360 and Xbox One gives Xbox One the huge boost everyone seems to think it will. Obviously it IS going to improve Xbox One sales with the bundle and everything BUT my point is that there will be lots of people buying it on PC/360 who could have been persuaded to upgrade to Xbox One if it was only released on the new system. When Microsoft starts releasing games only on Xbox One sales are going to spike. Why divide your own fans?
It's just as Wii U gamers said over the last year would happen after Xbox One and PS4 released - the market is different but nobody believed us. Sure PS4 is selling like crazy but the market is different now. Microsoft turned people off focusing on TV features and policies they later had to go back on. This video is from Nintendo UK and it's delayed to January in Europe not North America. Even if it did it would mean no huge gap like last year between SM3DW and DKC:TF.
The video also shows Hyrule Warriors on September 19th but in North America it comes out September 26th. That should have been another clue.
