For Nintendo I hope they don't talk about Pikmin 3 or W101 (or any games that were in the May 17th Direct) at E3. We know they're coming and when but maybe they'll have demos for people to try at E3 and Best Buy in Canada/USA.

You can just do it the way my friends did - buy the Wii U first, transfer everything over to the Wii U and then bring the Wii in for your $50 towards a new game. Then you have everything like your saves, miis and vc games.
Sales for games now on Wii U cannot be a predictor for what will happen once big 1st party games are released starting this summer. Things will change for lots of future releases once sales pick up - and they most certainly will. Apparently it's already begun since the reveal of MS's Xbox One.

I have a feeling lots of people will do as you do. That is precisely why though everyone thinks the Wii U has failed because people are waiting for the big games. Developers see that and shy away from the systems. Then it's harder for sales to happen but I do get why you'd want to wait to see what happens. Besides it sounds like most games will come out for PS3/360 at the same time as the PS4/X1. That is not going to help Sony/MS convincing people to upgrade.
Exactly. We'll see what happens around Christmas when Nintendo has big games out like Mario 3D, Mario Kart, Zelda, Pikmin 3 etc out and sales pick up. Exactly! Everything these days has updates from your Ipad/Iphone, blu ray player, computer to your game system. I'm happy to take time to download an update as it shows the company is looking at ways to improve upon things that are going on with their products. If they weren't doing that I could see a reason to whine but not for this!

That's quite a bit of dreaming there. Nintendo IPs on other systems and Pokémon exclusive to Vita when the 3DS is outselling the Vita like crazy!! They did this one so E3 can be for big announcements rather than wasting time at E3 going over the same games we've heard of before. Gamers would be furious if they did that. I'm sure they knew that but threw in the Sonic news and Best Buy announcement too!
Pointless? All we heard before today was complaining that we didn't know release dates. Now we do and it's pointless? They probably did this to have the E3 direct for new games and unannounced games. I suppose that will not be enough either.
I'm not because we knew it was for summer games that we knew about, they threw in some news about Sonic games with Sega, a deal with Best Buy to play games that are going to be at E3 like Mario 3D and Mario Kart plus we were told that close to E3 we would have another one with news about fall games and beyond plus unannounced games.

The fact that sales of PS3/360 are still high is part of the problem. Convincing new owners of each system that they should buy another one is not going to be easy. Lots of people could be cautious when they're released to see how it goes. Also, lots of games are still being released on PS3/360 which means the incentive to upgrade might not be as strong. That is not to say they won't sell it just might be that after the initial fans buy their systems there is a lull in sales simil...
it only has to do with when a console is released nothing more ie Gamecube > Wii > Wii U, Xbox > Xbox 360> Xbox 720, PS2> PS3> PS4.
i like how you conveniently leave wii out of last-gen and toss in wiiu lumping the wii in the previous gen. It was the next-gen over the gamecube. the last gen was wii/ps3/360 as they came out in 2005/06. Next-gen for consoles is WiiU/PS4/Xbox 720 (or whatever). They're out in 2012/13. It simply has to do with when they're released. For Nintendo the Wii U is a big leap forward over the Wii - their last-gen console.
They're still at E3 but are changing it up this time.
If Nintendo wants to get 3DS owners to buy a Wii U Mario Kart U should be an all new game and not a port of a game that's been out on the 3DS in HD with a few new things thrown in. Hopefully they announce that some upcoming games previously not announced for Wii U are coming like COD: Ghosts and maybe whatever EA is "working on for Wii U".
