I played the beta, and the game deserves every bit of praise and hype it's gotten. From a pure gameplay perspective, Destiny is the FPS genre at it's highest. It's just as fun as any Halo game I've ever played, and I've owned them all. In terms of story, Destiny is classic Bungie, and I love it. Music? Just as awesome.
Except, Bungie has -never- advertised it as an MMO. In fact, they've come out and said that while it has some elements in common with MMOs, that is not Destiny's genre.
I wouldn't say 'He only played the demo'. I'd say 'He played the demo, and totally sucked at it, and then blames the game for mistakes he didn't even realize he made'.
For example, the 'machine gun' he talks about using isn't a machine gun. It's called a Thermite Rifle. It fires pellets of explosive powder, and disperses it around an area. It's why he can fire a whole clip and not kill a single enemy. Because it isn't firing...
...Here's the thing. The gun he was using? It's called a Thermite Rifle. The flare and the machine gun aren't two different weapons, they are the same. The 'machine gun' fires pellets of explosive powder, which is why it's so wildly inaccurate and he can go through a clip and not kill a single enemy. Because it isn't meant to kill an enemy on it's own. It's meant to be ignited by the flare, which then causes a huge explosion.
Problem is, t...
Mediocre? Not really. It's got some of the most creative weapons I've seen from a shooter in a long time. Given the great setting, what's shaping up to be an interesting story, and the graphics, and it's hardly mediocre. And it's funny. The author of the article is one of the few people I've seen who've actually played the newest demos of the game and didn't like it. But it could be because if you watch his video, it's obvious that he sucks.
Might as well ask 'What if MS bought Capcom?' Ultimately, MS has more than enough money to outbid either Sony or Nintendo, and with their desire to get major exclusives for the X1, I can easily see it happening.
I don't even remember the last time I played a game that featured a woman in anything less than full dress that wasn't satire or built for fanservice.
...And? That doesn't do a thing to challenge what I said. She's a joke outside of her fellow feminists.
....This article lost me when they claimed that Anita Sarkeesian was 'respected'. Outside of her fellow extreme feminists, she's a joke.
Oh, the number of femnazi stories lately is hilarious. When you 'speak out' against a non-existent phenomena, expect to be mocked you dumbass. Oh, poor you. A couple of modders hacked the game to allow rape! Boohoo! That -must- mean it's a rampant problem that -must- be reported on!
Oh yes. Women are so woefully underrepresented. I mean, it's not like you can play as a female in mainstream games like Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, Destiny, or Halo. And surely there aren't great female characters in plenty of other games on the market. Oh, those poor women who only make up 30% of console gamers.
...Really now? I can think on one hand the number of games that present women as 'objects only useful for sex', and most of those games are parodies of modern American culture meant to point out how ridiculous those stereotypes are.
Like GTA. It's a frequent target of femnazis, especially the most recent game, but people ignore the fact that it's obviously satire.
But...but...women shouldn't just be background characters! There should be more female protagonists as playable characters! Waaaah!
Oh god. This article is total crap. So a handful of people issue death threats, and suddenly this guy is 'ashamed' to be a gamer? Let's not even touch on the issue of alleged 'sexism' in games.
Actually, chances are, 5 years from now the PS4 will be able to run the latest Battlefield game or any comparable title at 1080P and 60 FPS. Here's the thing about consoles. As devs become more familiar with the hardware and epitomize the development process, they can pull more and more performance from it. So, if games like Killzone: Shadowfall can run at 1080P and 60 FPS at launch, there is no way that 5 years down the road it won't be able to run the latest titles with the same lev...
..You do realize that as devs become more familiar with consoles and optimize the development process, the more power they can pull from the hardware, right? There is a reason the Xbox 360 can run a game like Crysis 3 despite the fact that it's hardware was already outdated when it released 9 years ago.
...No duh. That's like saying a Honda doesn't pack as much power as a Corvette. You get what you pay for, and I'm personally not willing to spend +$1000 dollars on a high-end PC, and then a couple hundred every 3-4 years to be able to play the latest games on max settings. Not when I can simply spend $400 on a console that will still be able to play the latest games 7 to 8 years from now without issue.
The actual definition of who is a 'casual gamer' really varies. For me, casual gamers are synonymous with people who play games almost exclusively on handhelds or other mobile devices, along with those who only pick up cheap consoles and only play relatively simple games like Call of Duty or Mario Kart.
...Wow. The Last of Us is more 'hardcore' than anything Nintendo has released on one of it's consoles in the last 15 years. Same with Uncharted. And Tomb Raider is for casuals? Riiight. Someone is butthurt.
'Gamers' aren't dead. They aren't even close. The industry is bigger than it's ever been, and so is the gamer community. These people are so detached from reality it isn't even funny.
