In case you hadn't noticed, the Wii U already IS dead. Paper Mario Color Splash was the last major exclusive release, and Zelda will be the final goodbye. There's a few smaller releases speckled in between like Shantae Half Genie Hero, Darksiders Warmastered and Yooka Laylee but, all things considered the system is done.
But hold your horses with that 3DS talk. I really love my 3DS...
I'm gonna be honest. PSVR is the most amazing experience I've had in gaming.
That said, the resolution sucks. It's my biggest complaint. And the software a lineup is extremely lacking. The only reason it's gotten a pass from me is because VR makes even mediocre games become absolutely amazing. And it does have a few actually good ones like DriveClub, which was already a great game before so it's just absolutely incredible in VR.
Wha...
Ugh, I hate articles like this because it will pit all the PlayStation fanboys against Nintendo and it will pit all of the Nintendo fanboys against Playstation.
Lol the fanboys don't want to hear this. They're out in their downvote brigades lol...
Dude, if they launch with Zelda Breath of the Wild, Skyrim Remastered, a new Mario, Splatoon 2, Pikmin 4 and a few Wii U remasters like Mario Kart 8 and Smash, and a handful of 3rd parties, that would be an absolutely incredible launch.
I mean everyone was praising the ports and remasters for VR launch, like DriveClub and ports of Eve Valkyrie... all I heard ...
Right.
-plays home console games
-directly connects to TV
-has its own separate controller
Totally failing to understand how anyone would misconstrue this is a handheld. Yes it is portable- that is the whole nature of the selling point. But being portable doesn't inherently make it a handheld. This thing is console through and through, portability aside.
It was smart of them to show adults in their commercial because it's not just families and kids who play their consoles and their games.
Can you can Target and Market whoever you want but that doesn't mean the console is only for certain demographic.
It's got Zelda? It's got Splatoon? It's got Mario? It's got some 3rd party games?
That sounds like it's as much for gamers as it is for the average consumer
Lol. OK.
Nothing has been confirmed yet. But you really really really have to make a stretch to believe that it's not coming
They made the right move. Fanboys aside (because fanboys will just write it off automatically, that's how they operate), this is about the most appealing concept I can imagine. Nobody's going to want to buy a clone of the other two consoles out there. If you own a PS4 or Xbox One like I do (I own both, and PSVR and Vita), you have absolutely zero reason in the world to buy a third console if it does nothing different and has all the same games you already have.

Who said anything about having Xbox one level graphics? The only fanboys I see here are butthurt Sony and PlayStation gamers who are threatened by a console that looks cool and appealing and they don't want to admit it. So they revert back to the one thing they can lord over Nintendo and that is "power". As long as it's not as powerful than they can just automatically write it off and dismiss it as garbage.
Maybe it's as powerful as PS4. Maybe just ...
It does look like a really slick console.
Glad it's not just a PS4/X1 clone. PlayStation and Xbox gamers would have zero reason to buy a clone system of what they already own. By offering something new and different, it gives existing console gamers a reason to double up with a second platform. Especially given the value of getting console/handheld/system level crossbuy (even for AAA games) all in one.
Keep a PS4/X1 hooked up (with obligatory PSVR ca...
?
Aside from the Tegra based proc, not really seeing the similarities. Shield had a clamshell design, and streamed games from PC over wireless.
Shield was closer to the Vita (with its small library and wifi remote play) than Switch.
This is more like an iPad or Galaxy tablet that finally incorporated built in controllers. And has AAA support. And Nintendo games. And came with a dock for seamless TV play.
Heck ya.
This list absolutely smokes the pledged Wii U support back when it launched. Some of these devs have never put a game on Nintendo hardware before.
Bethesda? From Software? No, this is definitely not like Wii U.
Awesome. Half Life 2 finally!
Wish I had it for PSVR though. Dang those VR exclusives.
Nah, even if it only got Nintendo exclusives it'd still be a great console to pick up (we all own PS4 and X1 anyways so it's not like ANYONE here needs a console to play those games on). Not to mention the double whammy value of getting console and high console quality portable in one with permanent crossbuy forever obliterated.
That alone is worth it.
But they seem to have quite a list of supporters. Wii U never had this many pledging support. O...
There's a separate pro controller for the Switch. You can either detach the side controllers and use individually, you can slide them into this thing which makes a makeshift pro controller (probably for when you're out and about but want a normal controller, so you don't have to carry separately) but there's also an actual pro controller.
And by the looks of it, it may have swappable components (ie put dpad where you want it, analogs where you want it, swap ...
The salt from fan boys is strong.
No matter what Nintendo makes, nomatter how awesome it is, some will just hate it by default.
You're getting a handheld AND console in one purchase. Console quality gaming at home, and on the go.
What's not to like? Zelda at home, and on the go. Buy it once and get both. Skyrim at home, and on the go. Buy it once and get both.
This is system level crossbuy for every AAA game. ...
Looks fine to me.
Best looking system since the SNES
Right on.
Another generation passing the torch. Always exciting to see new Nintendo consoles.
Something people need to understand is, all the power in the world won't condense the ppi of the visor screen. It's 1080p but split into two images, one for each eye, and the only thing that can remedy that is gen 2 VR hardware.
It's still freaking awesome, but yes the resolution is definitely a weakness for the gen 1 tech. I mean, you feel so immersed you almost don't care, but it does constantly make you feel like it's "out of focus" because ...
Dude you've lost your mind.
3DS is probably my favorite platform of all time. And Ive owned every console and handheld ever made aside from Saturn and Dreamcast.
And Wii U was a pretty good system despite its commercial failure ( not like I was going to buy any multiplats on the system anyways given I own PS4 and X1, so it was never going to offer me more than it's exclusive games anways). I mean, is it the greatest console ever? Definitely not....
