Exactly. Who cares what Wii U sells, or whether or not they turn the system around. All I care about is playing the great games on the console, and Wii U most certainly has some great games. And many more coming. DKC Tropical Freeze is one of the funnest games I've ever played. It's just SO good. I'm glad I own a Wii U. I feel bad for anyone missing out on these games, I really do. People just don't know what they're missing!
Horsepower isn't the issue. It's never been the issue, and will never be the issue. Horsepower is good if the majority of the games on your console play to realism, and have bloated budgets that can afford to develop for such power. But if most games on the console can look JUST as good on lesser hardware, there's really no point. It will only inflate costs of hardware, inflate costs of development, and lengthen development cycles, which means games take longer to hit store shelve...
The gamepad isn't going anywhere. Like the DS and 3DS, the second screen is here to stay. People complained when motion was shoehorned into every game, so Nintendo has avoided making that mistake twice. But now that Knack turned out to be the flop (and a horrible game too), and Mario passed a million sales on a "doomed" console, everyone shrugs it off as nothing.

Been a solid year for Wii U and 3DS games. Super Mario 3D World and Zelda Link Between Worlds are just the cherries on top. This year's gonna be hard to beat, but 2014 looks like it may do just that!

Doesn't matter. As long as there's enough of an install base they'll bring games to both systems. Doesn't matter if PS4 has twice the install base, all that matters is if Xbox One has enough of a base that bringing the game will be profitable. We're going to see less and less 3rd party exclusives over the years, especially with Valve entering the scene.
