I wonder how different the three different life paths are. Like, is it only the first hour of the game that's different, or are there different missions throughout depending on which you pick.

Yep. When the people who are wrong about almost everything and have terrible opinions try to insult something by comparing it to classic rock, you know it must be great.

Lol you won't have the real version of the game without a digital download. Get over it (you will automatically once everything is digital).

But guys if you buy the disc you'll own the game and still be able to play it on your PS4 in 2077 after psn shuts down and you can't download it anymore.

Remember a few weeks ago when the series S was a "1440p console" with a better CPU than PS5, RAM didn't matter, and games were going to run on it exactly the same as on series X except at a different resolution? I guess devs forgot to use the magic word "scalability."

Honestly this is reminding me a bit of the early PS3/360 comparisons, where, despite PS3 having a processor that was theoretically far more powerful (so much so that institutions purchased PS3s to get access to that processor for supercomputers), 360 versions of multiplats often ran better. The difference isn't as pronounced here, but it's still a good reminder that specs on paper aren't everything.

@yellowgerbil

I'd much rather pay $20 for a digital game than $9 for a used disk. A digital game is in my library and I can install it and play it on any console without worrying about a disc, including on any PS5. Plus if I'm at work, I can buy a digital game from my phone, set it to install in rest mode, and it will be ready to play that evening, instead of paying $5 for shipping so that potsmoker17349 on eBay can take 5 days to ship it to me (similar situation fo...

If you have any concept of the idea of how to take advantage of sales, you'll never pay full price for digital unless you are buying the game at launch. Also Sony is pretty good about marking down their big first party games, usually to $40 first, then to $20. Uncharted 4 is $20 now when not on sale.

I don't begrudge buying physical to resell (I had that phase during the early PS3 era where reselling a game for $25 was the difference between getting a new one or not...

Anthem. Weird choice.

Ah, the "I'm special and smart because Japan" argument. It never gets old.

Because the people who write for these sites loved the Xbox 360 and hated the PS3, and they always want to get back to an era where the Xbox is looked at as the premiere console.

Sony gets a license for one Marvel character, contracts a great dev, makes an excellent single player game in a few years, players love it, resulting in massive profits.

Square Enix gets a license for a ton of Marvel characters, takes years on end to create nonsense GaaS title, players hate it, resulting in massive losses.

I think that the key takeaway here is that singleplayer exclusive games don't sell and that multiplatform live service games are t...

Lol at all the "demand is high because of scalpers" responses to that tweet. People can't seem to get it through their heads that scalpers don't in and of themselves cause demand to outstrip supply. If scalpers were the only reason for so much demand, they'd have no one to sell to, but PS5s are still selling on eBay for $900+, so clearly consumers want them. Until scalpers can't make a profit reselling, consumer demand exists.

2030d ago 24 agree0 disagreeView comment

Exactly. The idea that scalpers are just buying them to put in a stack and look at is ridiculous. If the percentage that have been sold to scalpers is really as high as people are making out (which I doubt), it would be even stronger evidence of the console's popularity.

I love all the comments saying that demand is inflated due to bots and scalpers. That's not how scalping works, lol. It only makes any sense to scalp if demand vastly outstrips demand already. If scalpers were the only thing creating that demand, they wouldn't actually be able to sell all the consoles they bought at a profit.

Interestingly though there is some demand explicitly for the digital edition. Like I would have been okay with either, but I got a disc version largely because they made so many more of them. But if you look on ebay, you'll see digital editions selling sometimes for within $100 of what the disc edition is selling for (and both over $900).

2031d ago 7 agree0 disagreeView comment

I like how you are using the fact that scalpers know they can sell the console for 2-3 times MSRP as evidence that demand isn't as strong as the numbers suggest.

Yep. Who knows how long the wait might be for the true next gen version, or even if it will be worth it. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the last gen version comes in at 30 fps, then people hype themselves up about how the PS5 version is going to be 60 fps, only for CD Projekt to come out in March or so and announce that, due to Resolution/added effects/ray tracing, the next gen version will also be 30 fps. I'd rather just get it on PC, immediately turn off framerate killing nonsens...

Something tells me when MS brings out the Deluxe Edition on XSX after they own Bethesda and the timed exclusivity deal ends, Nodoze will think that they've ironed out all the issues and that it's turned into an 8.5-9.

2032d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yeah they should have made it a samey Ubisoft style collect-a-thon. That's where the really interesting concepts are.
