Ah the Classic "one of the most impressive games (arguably the most impressive) games of all time is better than Game X, so Game X SUX!" argument, also known as "Skyrim sux, lol, Witcher 3 is better."
So dumb. Imagine how stupid you would sound in any other medium if this was your standard:
"Michael Jordan in his prime was better than you are now at basketball, so you suck at basketball."
"The Godfather Part II is a bette...
Yep. CDPR needs to see that if they had just been willing to sacrifice some launch sales, they would have been better off overall without trying to make this game run on old hardware.
If other devs cancel the last gen versions of their games because of this, it will be a win (the dream is the PS4 version of Horizon getting cancelled, but it's probably too far in and the PS5 version has probably already been completely gimped, so it may not matter at this point).
Yeah, in classic fashion, everyone is overreacting. While I agree the game is unacceptable on the base last gen systems (and should have been cancelled on those platforms), you'll have a fine time on capable hardware. The bugs won't be anything you won't be ready for from playing other open world games.
Unfortunately "gamers" only seem to have two settings: 1) completely overhyped and 2) "the devs LIED! Anyone who buys the game is ruining the indu...
Sigh. Announcing a game for certain consoles doesn't bind you to releasing there. If, during the course of development, you realize those systems can't run the game adequately, you shouldn't release the game there. Games have gotten cancelled for specific platforms they were announced for while still being released elsewhere; it's not like it's illegal or something. Dying Light was announced for PS3 and 360 but got cancelled for those platforms because it would have been a...
They mean when you are playing it on the base last gen consoles. Playing on Series X vs base Xbox One is a huge difference, even though it's technically playing the old version through BC.
How did Anthem do after the disappointment of Mass Effect Andromeda?
My PC ran Counter-Strike 1.6, so it should run Crysis. Both are shooters, after all.
This person probably also thinks Red Dead Redemption 2 could run on PS2. I mean, why not, PS2 ran Vice City? Both are open worlds, and if a platform can run one open world, clearly it can handle any other open world.
Let this be a lesson against trying to make games that should be current gen only as cross gen. You'll either have to gimp them, or they'll run like trash on old hardware and it'll be a PR nightmare. Last gen went on for 7 years. Ghost of Tsushima was a great swan song, but now it's time to move on.
Yeah, this is fairly sad. I agree they shouldn't have released it on last gen consoles in this state (they should have simply cancelled the old version), but this nonsense of "I can name an open world third person action game that runs at 30 fps on PS4, therefore Cyberpunk can run on PS4" is a little bit sad. If you really think a generic Assassin's Creed map is comparable to Cyberpunk's map in terms of complexity, I can't help you.
We'll see. PS3 owners got screwed on Skyrim, and that was 2 years before it was available on PS4, and they didn't get a free upgrade. No one seems to remember that now.
On the other hand, the disappointment in Andromeda hurt sales of Anthem. So we'll see which way it goes.
Lol it will take until the true next gen versions come out. PS4 and Xbox One still won't be able to run this game well in a year.
Unfortunately I think it's a lot to do with the fact that it was their intent to get this game out a lot sooner, well before the new consoles. Had they always been targeting late 2020, that would have been a more viable choice.
There is a huge difference. I agree that some of the complaining is manufactured, but people playing on the base consoles have a legitimate complaint. The sections that drop from 30 fps to mid 20s on Pro will be consistently low 20s to high teens on base PS4 and mid teens on base Xbox One.
Right, but my point is that games in development might reach a point where they are more appropriate for newer consoles than the ones they are originally announced for. It isn't a binding contract to release your game on PS4 just because you announce it is going to come there years earlier.
I'm just saying that people are being a little inconsistent about this; I agree everyone that it shouldn't have been released on the old consoles, but few people want to make...
Anthem sales missed expectations and were lower than Mass Effect Andromeda.
I'm 100% it will too, and that's part of the issue. We've seen what happens when a dev doesn't hold a game back for the old consoles, and Sony isn't going to do that. They'll limit the game in whatever way is necessary to have it run well on PS4.
I love everyone on this site saying that the game shouldn't have been launched in this state on the old consoles, but then also violently rejecting the idea that those versions should have been cancelled in favor of focus on next-gen versions. As if an extra 6 months of development time is magically going to improve the old processors, or the fact that a game starts development on one set of consoles means that it can never reach a point where it needs to be released on more capable hardw...
This. An extra year isn't going to make old processors any faster. They should have just cancelled the last gen versions.
PS5 fiasco? Sounds like you are the one watching youtubers and parroting them. There have been so many console launches where it's been hard to get the console (getting a PS5 was much easier than getting a PS3 in the first few weeks), and there are always scalpers.
