Yeah, don't forget Obsidian.
Yes. Extremely worried. There will still be great third person action RPGs on PS5 (in fact it will likely still be the best platform for those), but we may not get a decent first person western RPG after Cyberpunk.
The "lol Bugthesda" and "Fallout 76 sucks" crowd are whistling past the graveyard. When people who aren't hardcore enough to follow the news of MS buying Bethesda find out that "the sequel to Skyrim" is not on PS5, that's goi...
@SamPao
True, but those are both larger studios owned by Sony. Housemarque is smaller, independent, and has had a string of recent games that have gotten less attention than their earlier stuff.
We'll see. Maybe it can be Sony's first significant post-launch exclusive. I'm just afraid if it gets close to Horizon or even big third party games next year, it will get lost.
Unfortunately this doesn't look like it's going to be a launch game. I feel like getting out at launch and being able to grab more attention was exactly what Housemarque needed to get back some of their old mojo. I'm afraid if this comes out mid-2021 everyone will have already forgotten about it.
@TryAgainFriend
Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo are still coming, but beyond that nothing is confirmed. And no, news stories saying that Bethesda is still going to operate somewhat autonomously inside of MS are not confirmation that they'll keep publishing on PS5.
And last gen we had access to the great first party games and Bethesda's titles. This gen we still have access to the great first party games, but we lost Bethesda. So basically we should just be okay with a significant loss of value because we retained some value?
It's an entire publisher (some people are forgetting this or misunderstanding this and thinking that MS just bought the developer Bethesda Game Studios). They are also one of the publishers that isn't obsessed with annualized franchises and MTs. I'm not saying they are never guilty of bad practices, but compared to Activision, EA, Ubisoft, etc, there's a much higher focus on quality there (yes I know about Fallout 76, no need to mention it, I'm speaking generally).
People really have their heads in the sand about this stuff.
Yes. A first person western RPG is essential now.
It will provide us with great titles. My point is that this is not a scenario where MS created a new studio with tons of talent to make something new and exclusive to MS; they took something that PlayStation players previously had access to and made it part of Xbox.
So during PS4 gen, I could buy Uncharted, Dishonored, and Fallout. I'll still be able to buy whatever Naughty Dog puts out, but I've lost access to this Bethesda properties. It's not a comparison b...
Not a fan of this "Sony already has great studios" argument. Obviously Sony has great first party studios, but the problem is that the value proposition of Playstation has decreased significantly. In the PS4 gen, we got great games from Sony's studios and basically every game Bethesda published. So it doesn't really make sense to say that what Sony already had is a counter to Bethesda, because it was already built in to the ecosystem. No matter how you slice it, the value ha...
This would be awesome. People say dumb things like "there are so many games like that now." But there aren't.
Yep. People are just declaring that MS is going to treat all Bethesda games moving forward like they've treated Minecraft, when there is really no evidence that is true. I hope it is, but it would be a little strange for a Microsoft-owned company to actively keep developing games for their competitor while that competitor is taking active steps to keep games off of Xbox.
Shocker that the physical disc people are the same people who can't just make their own choice and be happy with it, unless everyone else makes the same choice.
I think this is a translation error. Smeagol says PS5 can't handle 4K/60 fps, and we know he doesn't like.
My favorite was "brain capacity of a wasp." Lots of wasps with Amazon accounts these days lol.
Exactly. People who get on sites like this frequently lose all perspective on how uninformed regular people are about gaming. A lot of more casual types are going to see a black system, the words "Xbox," and "X," and be like "oh that's that new Xbox I heard about on twitter."
I saw this lol. Hilarious, but totally predictable (indeed, many of us predicted it).
How many of the bestselling Japanese RPGs released in the same timeframe (since 2011) would you have to add together to equal the sales of Skyrim?
