I doubt that Sony will embrace digital only access anytime soon. Sony is a global brand and popular all over the world even in countries (like Scotland) where there is poor access to fast broadband unless you are in a major city. Like the PS4, the PS5 will be disc-based but allowing gamers to buy games in whichever format they wish, Blu-ray or digital. I think the major difference may well be a closer integration of PSVR with PS5, perhaps ensuring that all that one requires is the headset ...

Games from 20 - 30 years ago came in large boxes (especially in the UK) with lovely illustrations and thick instruction manuals and other material that added value. Good examples are the XCOM games 'UFO Enemy Unknown' and 'Terror from the Deep' from Microprose or their 'Master of Orion' or 'Civilization II' games which all came with written literature that would be considered ridiculous now. Most of the above games can also be played on modern computers with ...

I suspect that Sony is omitting PSX in December as the company will be announcing the PS5 early in the new year (as they did PS4) and then release the console in November 2019. It makes no sense to have PSX in December and then another event in February/March to introduce the new console.

I do not believe that Sony are not having PSX because they do not have enough new games to justify the event as games are the lifeblood of Playstation. It may well be that none of the ne...

Sony are to be congratulated for knowing what it could do with a property it owns the rights to and identifying the studio, Insomniac, that was best suited for making the game (although I do think Sucker Punch could have done just as well). The game has at least 40 hours of fun, a lot more if you take your time and enjoy all that is offered and with New Game + on the way in addition to the dlc that is due, there will be loads more to enjoy. Insomniac has delivered one of the best games for ...

The greed and stupidity of the last release, Rise of the Tomb Raider, has dented the franchise. Playstation gamers who were the core loyal supporters of the franchise were abandoned just so that Microsoft could have a year's exclusivity. after a large cheque was given to SE/Crystal Dynamics. And this was done badly too. At first it was suggested that Rise was a full exclusive and could not have existed without Microsoft and that it may well not ever arrive on PS4. This angered Playst...

It was bad enough that the last Tomb Raider game was withheld from the PS4 for a year while the Xbox version, for which Microsoft paid a lot of money for time exclusivity, was inadequately marketed and released in the midst of huge AAA games. You would figure the suits would have learnt a lesson. Releasing Shadow in the midst of Spider-Man and NBA 2K19 was poor decision-making especially since the devs actually made it a point to say that they were not worried about releasing Shadow at this...

More silly conclusions from Greenberg. More hardcore players? You need hardcore games, at least more than the very few the Xbox has. Given the games the PS4 has, I doubt what Greenberg says.

It's interesting but once is enough!

Because MS needed the kind of magic Sony has and they thought that buying a studio that has worked closely with Sony would do the trick. The surprise really was that Ninja Theory went along with it after having bleated repeatedly about independence and making games of a certain size and quality. I guess Microsoft offered enough money.

I will believe it when I see it. Microsoft has made so many promises in the past and has not delivered. Microsoft also always acts like it is doing something novel and new when all the company does is follow the Sony playbook. Just a few months ago, single-player games were deemed not popular - now it has jumped on the bandwagon. If it does deliver on all the promises, good as all of us as gamers will have even more games to enjoy. Until then, in Sony I believe.

The Initiative may well go after devs from studios that have delivered exceptional games before but it remains to be seen if Microsoft will cease interfering with how the games are made.

Spiderman in September, along with polishing off Yakuza Kiwami 2 from August, RDR in Oct along with AC:Odyssey and BF5 over November and Just Cause in December. Need to find space for COD and Fallout 76. There are so many games coming out this autumn and there are still games I have yet to play from last year so no need to get all the games on Day One. I can wait a few months for, say, Tomb Raider, and by the time I am ready the price will have dropped.

Utterly wonderful! God of War just keeps giving and giving....

Thank you, Santa Monica.

From all that the previewers and developers are describing, we are in for a treat. Sony and developers of PS4's exclusives are spoiling us, and the benchmark is so high now that the next few games after Spidey will have to be utterly spectacular to match God of War and possibly Spiderman

Looks utterly insane and will probably have fun gameplay. The music also sounds good. Looking forward to this!

So? That is your choice, well and good. Millions, however, will disagree and say you are missing out and you will not care. So we don't care you don't like God of War or single player games.

Does any care, I don't like muesli or porridge?

I don't understand why Bethesda should change an approach which has resulted in several excllent games to date. This sounds like the company is preparing us for what will be bad news for single-player game lovers - that MP and co-op features will be making an appearance in future games and effectively reducing the SP content. I think it is a mistake as there are plenty of purely MP and co-op experiences out there, certainly more so than SP games. All that will happen is that the qualit...

I doubt God of War can be beat. It's just too good. If Game+ mode is added, that will be it! Spider-Man might be a dark Horse. PS4 games bring something exceptional.in my opinion.

This is going to be HUGE! Just under 7 weeks to go and Summer feels long....

I have started to try and finish all my other PS4 games in anticipation of spending all my time on Spider-Man once it releases.

I cannot understand why anyone would even doubt that thee will be another console generation, another Playstation - the PS5. Sony has revitalized console gaming and with the exclusives its studios are releasing, there is no doubt that gamers will want more of the same, next gen. All that needs to be decided by the execs at Sony is whether the PS5 will also incorporate the 2nd generation of VR out of the box or whether it will remain optional as PSVR is now.
