Well deserved on all fronts. This was sublime. RDR 2 was also exceptional but GOW was special because of how Cory Barlog leaped over expectations of a Kratos game to come up with something so unexpected, so emotional, so elegant but at the same time utterly fun. On any other year RDR 2 would have won, hands down. GOW is that special.
This was self-inflicted. Instead of releasing a regular Battlefield game based on real conflicts with some historical accuracy, Dice came up with a game that was 'Battlefield' in name only and a revisionist take on WW2 that would put off even those like myself who enjoy reading 'What if...' war scenarios. If Dice and EA wanted a lighter take on the game this year, they were better off releasing a Battlefield: Bad Company game. Gamers have been waiting for this one for a ...
There are no hard facts here that can justify the headline. It'a all conjecture and wishful thinking. Poor journalism but also just an attempt to promote a favoured brand. We want all consoles to do well but the reality is that Sony has been making the right decisions certainly this current generation and over much of the last quarter century. Aside from a poor start to PS3 from which the company recovered over the course of that generation, Sony has usually deivered what gamers like ...
It could be celebrating 5 years of the PS4 but it does look more likely a nod to the forthcoming PS5.
I cant really see Sony making an annoucement in the first half of 2019 and the releasing the console in March 2020. From a business perspective this would destroy their PS4 sales for the Holiday 2019 season. I suspect that PS5 will be released November 2019 along with 3 or 4 new games, and upgraded versions of existing PS4 games made available online for those who would...

For example, the number of games cancelled - there were quite a few. Then, the emphasis on Games as Service, over-hyping games that failed to deliver, poor promotion of temp exclusives like the second Tomb Raider game. While people like me hated that a multiplayer game had been taken, Microsoft's poor marketing of what was a one year exclusive did not help. Also, the lack of any focus on Single Player Games which for Sony have allowed that company to ab...
EA had already lost the goodwill of many Battlefront players after the first release on this generation consoles but instead of learning, it decided to double down and try even harder to nickle and dime gamers and also give them a product that fails to compare with the original SW Battlegrounds 2 from years ago in terms of gameplay and content.
Like the studios it buys and sucks the life out of, EA does the same to franchises like Star Wars, etc. as the company and the gr...
All Phil has done is made some bad decisions and is now reversing them by buying new studios to make the games that he should have authorised in the first place. If that makes him an important personality then the Sony and Nintendo execs responsible for the games released this year are not only important, they are indispensable - gods!
The writer suggests that a mid-generation upgrade could also happen with the PS5 but says "A lot will depend on what Sony’s main competitors in the console market, Nintendo and Microsoft, decide to do." As we know, Sony unilaterally decided to upgrade the PS4 and the Pro appeared a year earlier than the the X and is a genuine upgrade as opposed to a brand new console masquerading as an upgrade. My point is that Sony has been served well by sticking to its own strategy with regard ...
Er.. there were hardly any major exclusives on Xbox this year. The company may have seen success in other areas of gaming but certainly not exclusives. Xbox users have an excellent console that plays multiplatform games better than any other platform. But when one talks about games, Microsoft hardly had more than one or two major exclusives and has relied on backawards compatibility and multi-plats to plug the huge gaps. This then is the consoles biggest failure - one that effectively over...
Hardly. Xbox One X as good as you may tout it is now, took a long time to get there after some very serious missteps by management. Even now there are hardly any exclusive games and being "most powerful console in the world" is not much good if you don't have new games no other console has. PS5, releasing either next year or in 2020 will become the most powerful unless Microsoft is prepared to release another model just two years after the X. Then there will be the mid-term ...
Sony not at E3 next year and not having PSX this year can only mean that Death Stranding,The Last of Us, Days Gone, Ghost of Tsushima, and Dreams are it for PS4 (what a line-up of exclusives to finish on), and any new development from the various Sony owned studios are now working on launch games for PS5.
As to when PS5 launches, from a business perspective, I would have thought it has to be Holiday 2019 as rumours of showing the console at PSX 2019 would wipe out a lot of ...

During the short period between September 1939 and June 1941 at a time when Britain was the only combatant nation in Europe still standing against the Germans, the Soviets were not much better as can be seen from how they behaved in Poland after invading it. Thousands of Polish officers and soldiers were murdered after they had surrendered. The Soviets were also highly critical of the Allies which aided German propaganda. But even worse and which in the mind...
Phil has been making such promises over the last three years and not delivered but if they do with the next console, good for all gamers, Xbox and otherwise. This generation has been the worst insofar as exclusives are concerned for Xbox One - there have been very few. The purchase of studios is a good start but only a start as it depends on how these studios are managed and what they develop. Remember, Microsoft purchased some notable studios oreviously but which utterly failedto deliver ...
It is a silly spat but technically the dev is right. Russia and Germany did have a pact, the Molotoc-Ribbentrop Pact, which was a non-agression agreement between the two countries but which also laid out 'spheres of interest' of each country, effectively a division of Central Europe. Poland was attacked on two fronts in September 1939 - Germany invaded from the west, Russia from the east a fortnight or so later. Stalin suspected that Hitler would one day ignore the pact and attack ...
I suspect that the main controller will not be that different from the one for the PS4 but refined and with longer usage after each charge. For all we know this patent may be for an optional controller or even a distraction for competitors. Sony is not about to jeopardize the momentum that has been created by the PS4 by releasing a console with a controller that may be disliked by gamers. However, it feels like the next console is closer now.
Black Ops 4 has no real singleplayer campaign and so many like myself who would buy a disc for the campaign have not bothered. Multiplayer gamers tend to favour digital versions so the large fall in numbers of discs sold is no surprise.
As long as he does not take 10 years for his next game - I will be dead!
Both games have their strengths. Spider-Man's appeal is its familiarity to most people who have grown up with comics and the movies. Spidey has always been a wisecracking super-hero-lite pitted against a well-known roster of villians and most of us knew what to expect even with the changes in some aspects of the of the Spidey universe. The game hits all the spots and is a lot of fun. It can be picked up and played in bursts and even when one just has a few minutes to play during a bus...
@darthv72
Spider-Man is an exclusive because the rights to Spider-man are owned by Sony and the game was only developed for the Playstation console by Insomniac acting as a second-party developer. Spider-Man will never be available on another console brand so even by that criteria, the game is an exclusive.
This rumour makes no business sense. Microsoft allocates resources based on returns for each project and I just cannot see how it would make business sense to 4 consoles in development. An update to an update (the S) but also an update to the brand new console released just over a year ago for "mainstream" gamers (the X), and finally, a brand new console designed for the "enthusiasts" (therefore a replacement for the X again). It makes more sense to just rebadge the cu...
