It looks like Ghost of Tsushima is another great game. Sony outdid itself this generation.

Ghost is the last major game from a Sony studio for the PS4, just 4 months away from what will be the start of a new generation. That alone speaks volumes about Sony and it's attitude towards outgoing hardware. For 25 years the company has been at the forefront of gaming technology and software. I am really looking forward to the PS5.

PS5 for me and my friends. We might get the Xbox later if the games are any good.

"Sony is a bunch of nobody's" Yet, Sony still had Microsoft beat to the extent that the latter ended up designing 3 consoles this gen and still failed to sell even half of Sony's number, have ended up creating 2 new consoles for the next gen, each differing in power, all in the hope that somehow something will work. Leaving aside hardware, Sony had more exclusives in just one year than Microsoft did in 6 years. As for VR, Sony had sold over...

Sigh! Opinions presented as facts...raw power was not enough for the Xbox One X and neither was backwards compatibility or the controller so there are three reasons gone already. As it is the jury is still out as to which console will PERFORM better as this is not just down to which console has more Teraflops, but developers seem to feel that Sony has done a better job. As for backwards compatibility, most gamers will want PS4 games to be playable and enhanced on the PS5 and Sony appears t...

I agree with all your comments here. I think, though, that since Kazuo Hirai took over the reins from Howard Stringer, Sony started back on its old values which under the latter had changed to competing at lower to mid-range across the hardware range and R & D was pushed to the minimum. I was surprised that Hirai did not stay at the helm longer but his presence has done much to revitalize Sony.

Talking of the Fosi Tube, is it the T20?

Microsoft is overthinking this. All they need are games and a console that can play the games to the utmost level. Period. MS had 3 models this gen - Xbox One, One S and One X. Did it help? Not really because what hurt was the lack of exclusives (yes, I mean games not available on PS4 since MS is determined to release games for both the console and PC). There just weren't that many. In fact, I would say that Sony released more exclusives in 2017 alone than MS did pretty much over t...

Sony built some cracking amps in the 70's and 80's before the Walkman era and have come up with benchmark sound formats over the last three decades. At present some of the best headphones and HD audio devices also come from Sony. My point is that Sony is both a hardware and software manufacturer and I suggest that Sony can deliver 3D Audio that will do the business as well as Atmos if not better. Cerny did say ..."but we wanted 3D audio for all, not just those with licensed so...

GamingBolt, the mouthpiece of Microsoft, has had a poor console generation - forced to admit to the superiority of the PS4 time and again, initially with the hardware at launch and then since 2015 all the exclusive games from Sony that have excelled in quality and outnumber 10 to 1 (or even better) in the sheer number released over the last 6 years. Even the release of the Xbox One X did not give the boost GamingBolt desired for Microsoft but the early announcement of the new Xbox Series X (...

When the original PS3s and the PS4s came out, many gamers complained that the designs were nothing special, understated. The PS3 was called 'fat' and the PS4 was considered the least designed of the 4 generations. Now Sony has tried to create something that is futuristic and gamers think it is over-designed and will look out of place with other boring hardware or the 2 by 4 design of the new Xbox. Just can't win.

I agree with you. The PS2 launch just was one of the last nails in the coffin of the Dreamcast. However, had Sega not botched the previous generation of hardware there it would have been possible for Dreamcast to survive. But by the launch of PS2 it just did not have the goodwill of developers and major studios. Sega had let them down just too often. I have never understood why Sega has never fully utilized the IPs it owns. It is madness.

Sega had had issues with both their stockists as well as many of the gaming public with various add-ons to hardware over the years prior to Saturn. With Saturn, they announced the console the weekend before it was available giving themselves no chance to build up hype and a following and they pissed off so many of their potential sellers who then saw Sony as the more viable company and which had made a real entrance with the PS1. That bad taste remained a...

I am still using my first Dreamcast to this day. I use it for about 2 weeks each year whenever I get a nostalgia bug. If Sega had done better with the Saturn, I think Dreamcast would have been better received and certainly gamers would have had more faith in the console. I keep hoping that Sega will return to hardware and come up with a Dreamcast 2 but I guess Sega is better off financially making games for the three existing console families.

It is right that the PS5 only plays PS5 games as well as PS4 games and that the PS4 will be unable to play PS5 games. Why else would we need to buy a new gen console? In addition, the hardware differences would limit games on both consoles due to the necessity of having to play on the lesser spec console. The PS4 never had BC included and Sony is only adding this facility to the PS5 due to some gamers demanding it. Now all of a sudden Microsoft is being labelled 'consumer friendly'...

Microsoft NEVER recovered. The company stopped counting the number of units sold just so it did not have to admit that it was lagging far behind. This has never changed despite the introduction of the One S and the One X. The company is trying to rewrite history. The truth is that this gen, Sony did not put a foot wrong and delivered the games, the hardware and something new, VR. I also bodes well for PS5 as already external devs are already praising the new hardware and there is a genui...

How about "God of War 2.0" (sequel to the 2018 reboot) and "Spiderman PS5" Both re due for a new entry about now and having both as launch games for PS5 would ensure massive take-up numbers for the new console for the privilege of playing these two games alone!

Considering just how many top line studios Microsoft has bought and then not really done much with afterwards should scare off Platinum. However, Microsoft appears to be doing well with Ninja Theory and so there is good news. I doubt Microsoft would buy a Japanese studio outright unless the next console was assured of a decent share of the Japanese and Asian markets and so it may well be some time before this can happen. In the meantime, just make some really good games with the studio you...

Microsoft HAS to talk about it's own console while third-party devs lke Epic and Bethesda do the talking for PS5 - the delusion here is that Microsoft has the lead when it is Sony that has clearly got both gamers and game-makers looking forward to it.

The fact that Sony has two HUGE exclusives coming out for PS4 just 4 to 5 months before the PS5 starts selling should speak volumes - 'The Last of Us 2' and 'The Ghost of Tshushima' could easily have been...

Does this mean we will no longer see the developers logo, such as Naughty Dog or Guerilla Games, etc. Or is this new logo to start off all Sony games and then the developing studios logo will show thereafter? I hope it is the latter...

So much for "We are not competing". So now the rules change again but the PS5 may well dominate especially if exclusives are available from the outset and the hardware as a whole gives us something more.
