This is a delusional piece by an Xbox pusher trying to turn left into right and blue into green. Sony is bringing the games and that is what most gamers want. The difference between Xbox and Playstation is staggering and, in fact, embarrasing to Xbox.
Xbox is trying to do better and that is good but please do not try and besmirch Playstation to try and elevate Xbox as some kind of gamer-friendly console which is actually far from the truth. Playstation has given us so...
I played the first two Infamous games using both traits, loosely defined as 'good' vs. 'evil' and the latter was always more fun in my opinion. In hindsight, Infamous 1 & 2 were highly underrated. I wish Sony would have them remastered and released for the PS4.
Rubbish. Much of the planet is does not have the kind of net service that would make digital only gaming viable. In the UK alone there are areas that even in 2018 cannot support digital only downloads. Imagine Africa, parts of Asia, South America, and with net neutrality a major issue in the States, cost will also be a huge factor. Nope, disc-based gaming for a while yet.
Just goes to show how much thought and effort was put into arriving at the final looks for Kratos and his son. Pena's artwork gives Kratos a more feral look, the final look was a warmer, wiser Kratos. This reboot of an existing franchise appears to have had more work put into it than it would have had it been a new IP. They had to get so much right!
Shame about the Star Wars game but it ws odd that Amy went from working at Naughty Dog, left and then ended up at EA. I hope she ends up working with Sony as I think she really needs to get a game finished after two abortive attempts with Uncharted 4 and the Star Wars game.
@Vasto
Either you are delusional or such a fanboy you cannot handle the truth and make up stuff.
"Sony has o innovation and are greedy..."? This statement alone shows you are just making stuff up as even Xbox gamers will admit that they wish they had 20% of the exclusives PS4 has and that any one of Xbox's exclusives, as few as they are, had anything that could compare with Uncharted 4 from 3 years ago, let alone Horizon: Zero Dawn, God of ...
Some gamers forget that it was Microsoft last gen that did not want to even consider cross-platform gaming when the general perception was that it was beating Sony (n reality it was not). Gamers forget it was Microsoft that intended to implement anti-consumer policies at the start of this gen and it was Sony that decided not to play ball. Microsoft only want cross-gen now as it is beneficial to Xbox. Sony has nothing to gain by allowing cross-platform multiplayer and would in fact end up l...
It seems now all of a sudden that Nintendo is a 'good' company as far as Xbox fans are concerned and they are hoping for more. Good for them. Sony continues to march to its own drumbeat.
A bit too late to ask what is an obvious question now....
Microsoft's presentation was designed to retain gamers they still have. The presentation really showed that it has given up on this gen and is gearing up for the next. This itself is an issue, especially when compared with Sony which supports the outgoing gen for a number of years and yet still invests massively in new IPs and games for the new generation to the extent that the number of exclusives available for one year on the PS4 nearly outnumber the ones available for the Xbox One ov...
Gone wrong by whose standards? The fact is that Sony showed more exclusive games than it's hype-prone rival who has given up on this generation and is now focussed only on the next gen. The show felt like a stop-gap designed to present games that have yet to be released later this year or next year. There are still two or three presentations still remaining this year including PSX, and any remaining PS4 reveals will probably be shown in any of these. Better that than to show everything...
er...Microsoft reveals games from the same three franchises, only has one major release this year and basically kicks any notion of more new games or IPs to the next gen and yet this joker writes "A step forward for Microsoft, a step back for Sony..."? Well, we will take Sony with it's step backwards any day.
I suspect that Sony is not showing us anything other than what has been revealed until the end of last year as anything new now is slated for the PS5. In fact, this entire presentation felt to me like it was winding down and showing only the offerings that are due to be released for the PS4. Between the TLOU 2, Spiderman, Ghost of Tshushima and Death Stranding as well as Days Gone and Dreams, Sony has enough to cover the last 18 months of the PS4 and I would not be surprised if the PS5 will...
Agreed. It was a lot of hype designed to cover the fact that exclusives, new games and IPs are still missing this gen and there is little to come apsrt from the usual suspects of Gears, Halo and Forza. Xbox is merely getting ready for the next gen, right down to working on a new console just 8 months after the Xbox One X arrived - a new console masquerading as an upgrade so that buyers of Xbox One and One S do not throw their consoles out of the window and abandon the platform for some hone...
It was a good show, but nothing special. Why? Regarding exclusives (well for Xbox and PC), no new games for this year apart from FH4. Crackdown 3 looked mediocre, Other new games were from the usual suspects, Gears, Halo, etc. As regards third-party game announcements, most of these were multiplats, and will be available also on the PS4. Only the acquisition of new studios was really new and out of these two of the studios already only make games for the Xbox and only Ninja Theory was th...
Er... so the only big exclusive for this year is Forza Horizon 4! Most of the games shown were multiplats and will also be on Playstation. Yes, the 5 new studios was good, but two were always only making games for Xbox anyway (so begs the question, why buy a studio that makes only games for Xbox anyway?), two were known for indies and only Ninja Theory was a real surprise, mainly because the studio always claimed to wanting to be independent.
This was a "Xbox is ge...
It is a pity that they could not stay independent as it appears that they were doing exactly what they wanted after the success of Hellblade. I guess the theory is easier than the practice and they realized that they would rather lose the independence and have the resources and security instead to work on bigger, AAA games and giving up the ability to have their games on any platform was a small price to pay. It may work as long as Microsoft keeps it promise of creative freedom.

Hmm...there are new IPs that are being created all the time. Perhaps Eidos Montreal finds it difficult although I would have thought that any studio would aspire to wanting to create the next great IP. I mean how great would we think Naughty Dog, Gueriila Games or even Sucker Punch would be if they simply stuck with established IPs? In addition, if these studios can come up with new IPs, why can't Eidos Montreal? Two reasons - either it does not have personnel who are as creative or ...
The fact is that both Sony and Nintendo are both the major platforms for gaming. Both have been at it for a long time, far longer than Microsoft, and both are successful. Both have existing IPs that have been incredibly successful and both are capable of coming out with new IPs that capture the imagination of gamers. Sony especially is a hardware company that manufactures televisions, audio systems, mobile phones, tablets and much more as well as, of course, the Playstation consoles which ...
Other than the one studio (Ninja Theory),, the rest of the 4 studios acquired by Microsoft been making games solely for Xbox prior to acquisition. If the acquisistion of Ninja Theory was a slap to anyone it was to Ninja Theory itself as the studio was championing its independence and owning IPs. It wanted to have a presence in the market for well-made AAA Indies and not beholden to any one console. At the first sign of dollars, the studio forgot all that and sold it self to Microsoft to ma...
