"While the game is by no means unplayable, it is a victim of Sony’s massive success in the market of single player, story driven games, falling short of the lofty standards these titles are usually held to."
Silly statement when no answer is given. The author does cite other reasons for the lower score. I think the game is being judged against the likes of God of War, The Last of Us, etc. These latter games were made by Sony's best studios. 'Days Gone&...
I have played 'Days Gone' for about 12 hours now and it is nothing like what has been described in this article. It is a far better game than what the article suggests - fun, tense, suspenseful and quite satisfying. While the graphics are not on the level we would expect from Naughty Dog or Santa Monica, 'Days Gone' looks good and overall I would give this game 7 or 8 (out of 10). Well done, Sony and Bend Studio
It must irritate - Hennig's game gets cancelled and the studio is shut down and the in less than two years, another single-player game set in the Star Wars universe is now the next big thing from EA. To me, this is EA reacting to the successes that God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2, Horizon: Zero Dawn and Spiderman PS4 have been. As usual, EA is chasing dollars not quality or excellence. I can't bring myself to be enthusiastic about the game but I will buy it after release if it is...
Having played the game three times over the last nine months, I am about to go for a fourth trip and I am looking forward to it. Days Gone and GOW will be the perfect way to usher in the summer...
I have thought so from very early on that 'Days Gone' can be another success for Sony. The game has only looked better as time has gone by. I am getting it Day 1.
Kaz Hirai will be missed - especially by us gamers who have been with Playstation since it started 24 years ago, and of course by Sony as he guided the company back to a stable footing and then to a strong position where it is now. On a lighter note, who can forget the Kaz Hirai GIFS out there? Sony had a boss that enjoyed gaming and understood gamers and had a real sense of humour. I hope Kaz still has a hand in Playstation decisions behind the scenes and I also hope he doesn't total...
Why compare the attach rate to something that existed 20 years ago when PSVR's competitors are Oculus and Vive? Because the article is more about downplaying the success of PSVR and Sony.
Sony never expected the headset to sell as well as it has done especially given it had supply issues in the first year.. Considering that the headset is not cheap, the PSVR has been selling at an average rate of about 100,000 each month and with total sales of 4.2 million, it is e...
Yawn... all of these people proclaiming this or that will be the death of console should wake up. The console business is a global business and 3/4 of the world still requires consoles with hard discs and disc drives due to less than adequate access to decent broadband. Cloud, streaming, digital, blah, blah, all depends of being able to access at a reasonable speed, and until broadband quality across the globe reaches a minimum acceptable level across the board, consoles and discs are going...
What line...they are zonbies. If adults can turn into zombies in fictional worlds, why not kids? I doubt a zombie will decide not to bite a child just because it is a child. Also other games have had deadly minors - check out Dead Space 2.
The fact is that even in real life, kids are injured or killed by others, usually adults and usually through military action but also in cases of child abuse and forced labour throughout the world. We may rightly not show such sit...
Konami don't need to do anything. I don't think most gamers would touch a Metal Gear game if it was not created by Kojima san, Any goodwill Konami had was gone after their petty behaviour towards Kojima, ensuring that he could not accept any awards for MGSV. The fact is that Konami have a fantastic catalogue of IPs but which have remained untouched for years, so it was only time before Metal Gear Solid was consigned to the same fate after MGSV.
No, not by developers who know what they are doing. Look at Sony and it's studios - Horizon ZD - over 10 million sold (this is an exclusive title available on only 1 platform so if 10m does not impress you, nothing will). God of War - over 9 million sold (same again, an exclusive). Spider Man PS4 - well over 12 million sold. These games are all still selling so who knows the final number will be, but what they show as do games like RDR2 which has sold well over 20 million by now is th...
Given the X was released just 2 years ago, this would be a poor decision from a company that has made a lot of poor decisions since the beginning of the present generation.
What Sony really needs to continue to do is to continue making new games and creating new IPs that play well and sell well. The rest is just Microsoft propaganda. Face it - Microsoft, which cannot be bothered to come out with exclusive games and the few that it does have are nowhere the kind of quality that they should be, is crowing about how gamers are not cared for by the absence of crossplay. What rot! This is just propaganda by Microsoft because the company has nothing much else to o...
While the petition is correct, not much will happen as in a capitalistic society as the USA, winner takes all and Kotick is a winner in the eyes of the investors and the money markets. One of the commentators here talks of how a Nintendo officer cut his own salary to ensure that workers will not be laid off - this behaviour is quite frequent in other countries because in a lot of cultures, people are brought up to believe that society as a whole has to improve and move forward while in the ...
One can make the argument that because MIcrosoft were hammered for the first three or four years of this generation, the company decided that it "doesn't play by the rules anymore" and gave up giving straight numbers of how many consoles and games were actually sold. Then it figured out that there was another way to obfuscate the numbers and we got Game Pass and viola!, Microsoft is sucessful again according to themselves and some willing journalists especially now that they ad...
It is clearly a facility that was built in for PS4 but devs have failed to implement the pad it in ways it could be used and it has been rendered unecessary. However, Sony now has more space to implement other functions if the touchpad were to be removed. I like the speaker on the controller but again it has been underused. I am sure the controller for the PS5 will be revamped and right now I am just looking forward to what Sony will come up with.
Days Gone looks like it is going to a another great game for Sony. I am glad as this game is Bend Studio's first really big game and they appear to have approached it with a view to give us something that although set in a familiar world of Zombies is full of new ideas and approaches, all to ensure that we as gamers have the best possible time playing the game. Looking at the various trailers and gameplay videos out there, I am really looking forward to this game!
Self-serving opinion piece by someone who wants to reassure himself that Xbox is going to beat Sony next gen. It is really silly how every Xbox fanboy masquerading as a Playstation fan now wants Microsoft to beat Sony. It isn't enough that Microsoft do well in its own right, that Microsoft start giving gamers what they want as opposed to what Microsoft thinks they want. And there is always the assumption that Sony is just hibernating during the time Microsotf is doing all the things th...
I feel the rebooted franchise suffered from trying to be like Uncharted but not having the budget or Naughty Dog at the helm (which would have been impossible as ND is a Sony studio). The devs would have been better off if TR had been more like the old series. It started off fine but 2 and 3 just didn't push far enough with having really good villians, or different locations and cultures like monkey 602 says below.
Another thing that did not help matters was the tim...
I suspect that Sony will have a variant which will have been 'loaded' up with enhancements by Sony or Sony working with AMD. The best MS can then do is to have a basic version from AMD and then do either the same as Sony or find another manufacturer. I don't think AMD would give chip exclusivity to any company as it sets a bad precedent and gamers would end up paying the price!
