Yes, but Sega has made the game a timed exclusive for Xbox while the PS4 version is available, the PS5 version will not arrive until sometime next year. Not the way to treat gamers who made the game popular in the West. The irony is that the game is, as yet, not doing well on all the Xboxes. Poetic justice on the way, me thinks. If you got to wait, might as well wait longer and get it even cheaper.

Will probably be a timed exclusive on Xbox as Sega is no longer loyal to Playstation gamers who have supported the games from the start and made the games popular in the West. The PS5 version will be late again.

Sega has denied the very fans who supported the Yakuza series through thick and thin from playing the PS5 version until next year and released the new version only on Xbox whose users haven't exactly bought the game in droves. Frankly, I will not be surprised if every Yakuza game from now gets released on XBox first as Sega keeping cashing in the cheques from MS.

I will now only buy the game on PS5 after it has dropped in price - if we are going to get it late, what&...

"The difference in frame rate is negligible while the biggest surprise is how the PS5 manages to hold parity with the Xbox Series X despite offering almost 17% less raw hardware power."

I am not surprised at all. This is Sony we are talking about. The boffins there know how to extract the maximum out of every bit of tech in a console. I remember what a revelation the first 'Uncharted' game was on the PS3 and how 'Uncharted 3' and TLOU looked ev...

"Yakuza: Like A Dragon makes No.20, with 65% of unit sales coming on PS4 and 35% on 'Xbox'."

After withholding Yakuza: Like A Dragon from PS5 players, Sega learns that Xbox players just don't care about the game as much as Playstation fans. Sega can keep the PS5 version as far as I am concerned as the PS4 version will suffice and cost much less next by spring which is when I will get it so as not to pay full price to a developer that has no loyalty ...

I doubt any of the Japanese companies mentioned as possible targets by MS are actually available or would want to be. Microsoft has a habit of buying successful studios and then trying to get them to conform to MS's own ideas of what gaming should be and this has resulted in very poor results to date. The last generation was the worst yet for Xbox and in case you have either forgotten or just ignored the following fact, let me repeat it - Microsoft is launching a pair of new consoles wi...

By the way, can anyone here tell me the last time a console launched without a new game or two to sell said console?

Says the man whose company has no games available for their console launch. I suspect Gamepass is all that Xbox is offering and will rely on till they can get some new games from Bethesda, the new acquisition. On the other side, I predict Miles Morales and Demon Souls will shift so many consoles that Microsoft will not believe in counting....again.

It is a pity that studios like Blizzard have lost interest in RTS. At one time it was one of the best genre for games. Leaving aside the obvious candidates like Warcraft and Starcraft series and the Command & Conquer games, you later had Total Annihilation, World in Conflict, Company of Heroes, Rise of Nations, Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War 1 & 2, etc, etc. The games were hard, some really hard, but they were also fun and had so much depth.

As I recall, the above g...

Playstation is part of a division (SIE) within Sony. Playstation alone cannot even come close to MS when it comes to buying power. However, it's owner Sony, though only a quarter of the size MS is when comparing total equity ($35bn vs, $118bn), is cash rich and could front up the kind of money needed to buy something that could equal Bethesda.

But Sony does not have to. Over 25 years, Sony has bought, created and either merged, consolidated or sold-off studios whil...

Everyone seems to be weighing in on the Microsoft purchase of Bethesda so here is my 5 cent view:
(1) So they have bought about 8 studios or thereabouts - owning is one thing, doing something with them is another.

(2) MS might surprise us and leave the studios as they are and make the games available to all platforms including, of course, Playstation. Er...No they won't. MS is here because of the drubbing it got from the PS4. The PS5 looks like it could...

The last price increase was when we made the change from the PS2 to PS3, at least 15 years ago. Sony has continued to give us so many exclusives and continue to support the outgoing console for years after it has been superseded. So, I don't min paying an extra $10 for PS5 games so long as the quality and depth is as it always has been. Plus, if we wait, the prices always drop after a few months so if price is that critical, there is still a way to get the games cheaper.

The PS5 with UHD Blu-ray was available on Amazon UK at 8.30 am today and was available for a short time after which I guess their first allocation ran out.

One would think that given how important this launch is for MS, Phil would have tossed in a 2.1 cable and bore the cost differential as 'goodwill to loyal customers'. But once again they are penny pinching! They never learn!.

Even before the new generation has started, MS is up to its usual behaviour. On would think that considering how important this release is to them, that they would pour as many resources as their flagship title needed to ensure that we have the game ready to be released with the new console but also that it looks as good as it possible could. We have been here before with so many other games and none of them turned out as good as they wee supposed to be. MS simply wants the numbers without...

Frankly, every company became arrogant at one time or another. Sega did so with Saturn, Nintendo with N64 and finally Microsoft after the relative success of the 360. Had the Cell been easier to develop for, the PS3 might actually have succeeded sooner despite the hubris of Kutaragi and his chums. As it was it was Sony that came out with some of the best looking games and allowed the PS3 to eventually beat the 360. Microsoft's hubris was there for all to see in 2013 and during the mon...

Playstation gamers like myself supported the Yakuza series when it was NOT that popular in the West. In fact, many of us have introduced the series to other gamers and yet now Sega decides to take Microsoft money and WITHHOLD the game from PS5. Clearly, Sega did not see what happened to the Tomb Raider reboot series when the second release was also withheld from Playstation gamers, the ones who supported the franchise for as long as it has been around. Xbox players did not support the game...

Phil says one thing but his minions another. The writing for the next generation is on the wall and it is obvious that anticipation for the PS5 is much greater.
