I am sure based on how Sony has delivered in the past, that we are in for a few surprises as well as something totally out of the blue in addition to the expected. In a nutshell, Sony will not let us down insofar as the games are concerned and we should expect some prime announcements at E3. My biggest fear is that now that PSVR is about to become a reality in just over 4 months, Sony will find itself in a situation where games development takes on the spectre 'either' /'or' ...

I don't care if Kratos is the not the protagonist. What is more important is that the game is as good as God of War 1, 2 & 3 were when they first came out. I am ready for a new central character and I am looking forward to the kind of gameplay fun I have had and missed since God of War 3.

Sony and its first party studios are talented enough to ensure that whatever new character they introduce will be what the game needs and what we gamers will like.

What does it matter? Anti-monopoly regulations will ensure that all Microsoft can do is allow users to play Microsoft games through a paywall using Xbox software. Microsoft will not be allowed to prohibit other game developers from using Windows as they do now which pretty much ensures that all Microsoft has done is ensure the redundancy of the Xbox One and the shift of the Xbox division away from hardware and games to just software and games.

The fact is that the nature ...

@P_Bomb

Agreed.

'Titanfall' - the saviour of Xbox, the second coming, the game that was going to challenge the PS4 has sold less than 3 m in over two years and failed to meet sales expectations of EA to the extent that this rabidly pro-Microsoft company has turned 'Titanfall' into a multi-platform franchise and is releasing 'Titanfall 2' on the PS4.

'Sunset Overdrive' - the game that was supposed show t...

"Sony simply doesn't have many other titles to fight what Xbox might be boasting by the end of the year." Delusional or wishful thinking? I think the latter as no on in their right mind would ever suggest that Microsoft will ever have more first-party games and I.P.s than Sony. Sorry, but the fact is , unlike Microsoft, Sony has so many first party studios and they are ALL working on various games, announced, forthcoming and unannounced.

So far this year ...

Will it make a difference? Only for fanboys - the rest of the world has moved on.

A successful console is not just dependent on the hardware but also needs games, constantly. Microsoft has FAILED to invest in new I.P.s or take advantage of their existing properties with the exception of three, Halo, Gears of War and Forza. Even yesterday there was an announcement that Microsoft is funding the remake of a huge third party game which will now be exclusive to Xbox and Wind...

@PistolsAtDawn

The only reason Titanfall 2 is actually coming to PS4 is because when the first Titanfall was exclusive to Xbox One, it did not sell well as all and was even given away as a freebie during the first three months of release in an attempt to push the console. For all the bluster Xbox One fanboys had about Titanfall and how it was going to be the second coming, the game has failed to sell as well as it should have given that this was THE game of the console and...

Looks like an awesome game with loads of depth and amazing graphics! I am looking forward to this game even more after the latest trailer.

The fact is that none of these consoles have been confirmed by either Microsoft or Sony and even if they do exist, there is every likelihood that the specs will change depending on what the rival is proposing. The article is correct in that without exclusives, the souped-up consoles will be wasted.

PS2 was actually underpowered when compared with the first Xbox but this made no difference as the PS2 had the reputation of Sony behind it backed by tons of exclusives. Even t...

"Does Overwatch Need A Single Player?" - Only if the developer considers it necessary. In this case, Blizzard did not think so and so the answer is 'No'.

Hmm...an in-depth look at a rumoured console that has yet to be announced and for which we have yet to receive any credible news.

In light of the other rumoured console, the Xbox Scorpio, anyone with common sense can predict that Sony may well upgrade the specs of their rumoured forthcoming update of the PS4 to counter any power or price advantage that Microsoft might carve out with their release of an updated console. Or Sony may just decide to shorten the lifetime of the...

Silly hypothetical questions that mean little other than to fuel fanboy arguments. A rumour is not 'news' like the chap presenting this podcase seems to acknowledge but then conveniently forgets. If the Xbox Scorpio is announced it remains to be seen whether it is grnuinely more or less powerful than another rumoured future console, the Neo aka PS4.5. There is nothing to stop Microsoft or Sony changing specs on their various future devices and affordibility will be key. But until ...

An article that uses rumour and conjecture...forgetting that the Xbox One as it is now is in no way capable of running VR. If the RUMOURED Scorpio is enabled to work with the Rift, it is no different from any PC that offers the same and better capabilities. But now that Xbox is toying with VR, it is suddenly a good thing and once again we start to hear about how the VR experience will be best on a product from a company that does not even have proprietary VR technology and is piggy backing...

I want to play the Yakuza series precisely because it is NOT tailored for western consumption. God, just imagine how boring the world would be if we just had one culture! Sega does not have to do anything other than translate all text and add subtitles. END OF STORY. No more than this is needed.

It's like they are trying to fix a problem that does not exist! Have they actually spoken to an of the game's fans in the UK, Europe or the USA? Sega would be shocked ...

Where is this planet going to? Making death threats is objectionable in any case but because of a delay to a game? Morons. Cowards and utterly bereft of common sense.

No one delays a game just for the hell of it. I am sure Sean has his reasons which probably include ensuring that WE as gamers have the best experience possible. Instead of being thankful, these morons make death threats. Just for that Sean should delay it till next year,,,!

Agreed. Competition is good for both Sony and MS.

I suspect that both companies have their own strategies mapped out to deliver the results they want and whether they succeed or not will depend on how much each delivers what the gamers want.

I am looking forward to PSVR, Neo and even a souped up Xbone. As long as gamers and gaming is pushed forward, it's all good.

As much as the writer makes many valid points that are true, the statement "...Sony's success is also down to its competitors' failures..." is contentious as one can make the argument that the competitors have failed precisely because Sony has executed a plan that has been flawless backed by exclusives that have driven the console forward even further, including 'Infamous: Second Son', 'Bloodborne' and 'Uncharted 4', the latter being the biggest exclu...

What a load of crock....!

I don't mind a site standing up for the console they favour. But to be so selective so as to gloss over the shortcomings of the favoured console just shows how infantile this article is. EVERYONE who knows anything about console gaming will remember the millions of Xbox 360's that had RROD rot. Microsoft themselves set aside over a billion dollars to compensate consumers for the shoddy hardware. Added to which, the PS3 offered far more ...
