That was the risk. The MOBA, right now, is the cash cow that some developers are chasing...hard. Gearbox saw all of that cash that games like LoL and DoTA was getting and thought that they could capitalize on and add to that popularity by bringing that to consoles. IMO, people expected more Borderlands and less MOBA. They didn't get that and the game suffered as a result.
It seems like a reverse Psychology ploy. Market it as the "worse game ever" in an attempt to get people (and their sometimes perverse sense of wonder) to want to compare it to other bad games that they have played. Whether that works or not...Who knows!?
Okay...I laughed!!!😅
I agree with what you said. Sony just took what used to be the highlights of the show and turned THAT into the show. They most of the awkward dev speeches, the bullet point slides and financials, and just slammed it full of games. They streamlined the process to get right to the heart of the matter...games. I was impressed and NEVER bored. Which is hard to do after watching several hours of conferences and coverage prior to Sony's show.
You nailed the reason for Batleborn's demise. People were expecting Borderlands and didn't get what they wanted. IMO, taken on it's own and for what it is (NOT comparing to Borderlands) it's a pretty good game. The MP is very MOBA based and less pure arena shooter (like TF2 or Overwatch), which might have caused people not to quite understand it or like it. Plus, the writing is very much stylistically like Borderlands. It just launched against something that resonated much mor...
I get it and that speaks to what I was saying...you have no interest (or very little) in the game as it has been presented. That's cool. I also understand the fatigue that has set in with gaming and some of the newer constructs to get at our cash. But, imo, that should be yet another compelling reason to give this game a nod. It's virtually limitless and there aren't microtransactions, dlc, and season passes that we see before the game even drops.
As for the number of pl...
It just got final code (went gold), so it is impossible to have reviews of the retail version at this point. We will see reviews, as usual, around the date of release. I've not seen review embargoes being lifted 30 days out from release. Even games of this magnitude (which we KNOW no reviewer will be able to see ALL of the content) don't get that kind of treatment. That's why we often see "partial" or "core gameplay" reviews of larger titles that could take 100...
Sex is natural, sex is good...Lol
Seriously, I think that sexualization is fine...to a point. I'm not trying to stifle creativity or tell an artist what to do. But, just for my tastes, it's fine up and to the point of objectification. When there is no character, no theme, no real point aside from T&A, that's the point where it just becomes a pure gimmick and not worth MY attention. Even in marketing, it's only going to get you so far. You can wrap a piece of crap ...
@Stuna1...Hello Games would be absolute fools not to make sure screen shots and clips are enabled. Just the sheer amount of potential variety has me giddy. Plus, IMO, it will make an excellent stream game because different people will see totally different things from stream to stream.
I understand discovering new games and I would encourage that. I found more gems and guilty pleasures out of boredom and trial and error than I have trusting publications, websites, and reviews.
However if, after all of the footage and coverage a person still hasn't seen anything "enticing" in No Man's Sky, they are probably just not interested.
You'd be surprised. By the way, I was a teacher! 😩
Actually, I wouldn't mind it as long as it's not forced. Assassin's Creed does a great job of providing some historical context without seeming like an overdrawn historical documentary. But, as you said, it still has to be fun.
While I understand what you are saying by "missed opportunity", this is STILL a Battlefield game. In saying that, there is only going to be so much depth and exploration of the entire war. I'm sure that they will build a nice enough narrative to compel the player through the single player story. But, they also know that their formula (keeping it short, relatively simple, and entertaining) is what sells. IMO, that's not disrespecting history as much as not being able to provi...
If you've not "seen" or read anything that makes this game enticing, then it's not...to YOU...and no amount of words will be likely to change that. It's a genre that's not for everybody. So, by that nature, it's a game that won't be for everybody. No disrespect intended, but if you don't get it...then don't get it. (the game)
Hard not to be defined for what you are ultimately known for. That's why many retired athletes usually struggle. They did something for so long that, when it's gone, they don't know what to do.
Accidents DO happen. But, this is akin to watching Hollywood stunt men perform a fight scene in a movie or TV. There is a loose, predetermined fight choreography. It's meant to be awe inspiring and entertaining. It DOES require skill, finesse, power, and training. But ultimately, because of the fact that they aren't REALLY fighting and the winner is determined by a script, it is fake. That doesn't take away from the entertainment value, much like some people enjoy great fight scen...
The article really should be called "Why You Shouldn't Trust Battlefield 1 To Explain Everything" because, apparently, that's what she seems to be lamenting. Though I understand the want for her to get people to see what this war was about and all of the nuances involved, I don't think this is the proper medium to address ALL of that. Hell, books and movies can't even do that. (unless it's a historical reference completely about WWI) Games are meant, primarily, t...
He probably got enough donations in that stream alone to replace his monitor.
Agreed. Even though there is no direct tie-in, that won't stop them from trying to capitalize on the feeding frenzy a la Star Wars Battlefront. I just hope that's enough time to get it right.
This is a loaded question if ever I've seen one. Bargain vs scraps? How about just another option? That's really the issue. While it will be a "new" game on PS4, it will have been out for a year on PC and Xbox and have had it's price reduced. So, the real issue is market perception. Can CD realistically create the perception of value for TR, in a market that includes Uncharted, for that holiday? Sure. But, imo, the best way is to offer the incentive of a reduced or compa...
