But this was a graduation speech...not the state of the union address!!! Seriously, do you think that Obama sits in the oval office plotting the downfall of video games!?!? This was a targeted audience for a specific point...education should be a priority over the newest console launch, or the newest I--whatever. I don't have an issue with that.
is probably one of the most intelligible statements made thus far. (Sorry hadn't made it to the bottom) It is truly about priorities. These priorities are usually instilled by PARENTS!!! If parents don't keep watchful eyes on their children, then the children will naturally do what is FUN as opposed to what is better for them. Obama doesn't hate games or gamers...he hates what has become of this new generation and their lack of understanding or care for the importance of education...
Products that are advertised on her show or in that general time slot seem to boom! Seriously, Nintendo went after kids, parents, and long time Nintendo supporters with the Wii. My 62 y/o mother couldn't tell you what a PS3 was until I talked her into helping get one for my nephew for X-mas. She didn't know what a 360 was except that thing with commercials every 10 minutes. Yet, on her birthday she asked for a DS...just for Brain Age...because of a 60 Minutes story about Brain Age hel...
with the point that they should stop trying. Everyone was aware of the uphill battle that any handheld would face against Nintendo. They have successfully beat down every challenge thus far. However, Sony has been able to sell over 50,000,000 PSP's on Nintendo's sacred ground. That's pretty good for a first effort. Plus, with that logic (the handheld market belongs to Nintendo) we wouldn't be looking forward to another generation of gaming with the likes of Sony or Microsoft b...
I understand that the content may change from episode to episode, but the gameplay mechanics probably won't. So, to answer your question, the episodes will be judged probably based on the overall contribution to the over-arching storyline. I doubt that the original score will be effected by the DLC episodes. Reviewers might comment on how well the episode complements the body of work...but that's probably going to be the extent of it.
I know several people in person, not to mention countless online, who have experienced RROD issues and either purchased a backup 360 or had them repaired. On the other hand, I know NOBODY that has created a supercomputing PS3 farm. No...I don't believe that HALF of the 360 sales are from RROD replacements, but I'd be blind, deaf, and dumb not to believe that there is NO contribution from RROD issues. Sure, academia probably has contributed to hardware sales...but I would venture to gu...
The PS3 SLIM came out and started the momentum that STILL exists today with the PS3. No...they didn't NEED a price drop...but they DID benefit once it happened.
I remember GTA IV fondly!!! I actually liked the game...NO...it wasn't a perfect game like the tons of perfect scores thrown at it. But, it was a very competent and fun game.
They do that...and I might just have to fork over my $60 on GP!!!*LOL* It would be great to have some late 60's and early 70's music to drive the soundtrack of the war. Maybe if just on a radio as ambient noise before an ambush or something.
have to be examined thoroughly to understand the intent of what is to be accomplished in the end. Motivations behind these studies should also be examined (monetary, political, etc.) For every study, there is bound to be a counter-study. This is just educational elitist verbal masterbation at it's best.
However, the basics of this article should ring true. Purely from a physiological standpoint the multitasking/prioritizing tasks needed to play video games should strengthen and reinforc...
but it WILL train or develop reflex arcs in the brain to access and process information faster. This can be done by repetition of other exercises as well...but done in "video game" format seems to have caught on. It is probably more useful for younger players (those that are still in the "wiring process" of brain development) and those that are older (whose brain is starting to slowly unravel those wired processes).
The Colony Wars games were just awesome. Tenchu was also great as well. Don't know why they can't get that one right again...oh yes I do...they keep trying to make it more accessible (casual). Battle Arena Toshinden was my first game. Finally, I absolutely LOVE Destruction Derby. I can't speak of the ungodly amount of hours poured into that game just to see the carnage! Man...you nailed it!!!
Backbreaker will be a fresh departure from the traditional and somewhat stale Madden formula. Maybe it will inspire the Madden team (Tiburon still?) to actually make some worthwhile changes in that formula and make a truly great football game. As it is, Madden is stagnant. Look at what competition did for the NHL and FIFA franchises. They have become sports benchmarks...whereas Madden has become the..."let's hope that they add...or I wish they would have kept or done..." franchise. ...
In actuality it WAS direct competition and pressure from the 2K series that caused the deal between the NFL and EA. 2K5 gave Madden the first run for it's money in a LONG time...with it being critically the best football game on the market and released at originally half of the price of Madden. The NFL offered the license to EA and they jumped at the opportunity. Sure...Visual Concepts could have made a counter offer...but the coffers of EA are just too deep! There wasn't gonna be a bidding w...
I agree with your comment, but it is a really sticky situation with the age of consent vs. child porn thing. Age of consent is considered to be a States rights issue (states can actually decide what that age is and it is different from state to state). However, the child porn thing will fall under a blanket of both Federal and State laws. These hinge on things such as the age of the "child" when the image was taken, distribution vs. possession, etc. As I said...STICKY. That being sa...
This kid goes Raskolnikov on his dad for a game??? (sorry bout the literary reference...pick up a book for once...LOL) It is OBVIOUS that there has been an issue with this child. Maybe the parents just allowed the game to be the therapy for him...or maybe they just weren't able to pay enough close attention to the fact that their child had issues? Either way, this is just plain SAD! I understand the calls for death for this kid, but if there is a true mental illness (which is highly likely), ...
are sad because you attempt to troll all of the time...and you do it so poorly. Tell ya what...take a break...go back under your bridge...get some material together. Then, maybe more than one or two people might pay some attention to you...then again...probably NOT!!!
at the breakfast cereal comment!!! BUBS for the laugh!!!
I won't disagree that she is a hell of a talent. However, the commercialism of the music industry has basically stripped her of any redemptive quality. She has been reduced to a poppy sensation...which equates to formulaic retreading and over-produced nonsense. As for sticking to roots, if that were to be the case, the music would probably be miles better...BUT we probably wouldn't be talking about her today. In today's music industry, no matter the genre, commercial music sells...all else fa...
Madden had a pedigree that stretched as far as most sports gamers could remember. Even if games weren't great every year, most people felt that they knew what they were getting into when purchasing Madden (for better or for worse). 2k, on the other hand, was a relative newcomer to the field. Those that didn't own a Dreamcast might have never played it. Those that DID should have realized that the game changed from Dreamcast to the iterations on PS2 and Xbox. It was almost like startin...
