Somewhat entertainingly, I still think the best game I've ever seen from a pure graphcial standpoint is The Order: 1886. Now, that's a linear shooter, and this is an open world, so not apples to apples. And I haven't actually gotten to see GoT running natively on my screen, which will likely also change things. But the lighting engine used in 1886 makes my jaw drop, it is honestly some of the closest to photorealistic I've seen graphics come, even years later.

2tb 7200RPM 2.5 inch drives aren't really that affordable. They're like $170+. You can get 1TB 2.5in 7200rpm drives affordably ($50-60, which is what I have in my PS4), but at the prices that 2tb 7200rpm drives command in that form factor, better off to just stump up an extra $30ish bucks and get a 2tb SSD. Best option out of everything is get an SSD/1tb 7200rpm internal drive, then supplement with a much cheaper, higher capacity 3.5in external drive.
Oh god, Fischer got bored and THAT's why we don't have these games anymore! {shakes fist, shouts to heavens} UUUUUbisooooofffft!
"Burgeoning"? You can't "burgeon" if your success has been stratospheric for well over a decade lol.
I just find my interest in reading about games stays high, but my interest in playing them dwindles. Bad combo for a backlog.
I occasionally will do a day where I try to play several games for a short period & see how I feel about them. Play 30-60 minutes and if I'm really digging one game, keep playing it. If I like it, but don't immediately feel compelled to continue but want to go back, I'll label it on Steam and know its worth revisiting. Other games, yo...
It is:
"Sony confirmed PS5 would be backwards compatible with PS4 last year. Not only that, but the company confirmed that the original PSVR headset worked with PS5 too."
https://uploadvr.com/psvr-b...
Obviously we know not every PS4 game is backwards compatible, so obviously the VR library will also be relegated to whatever has been tested and certifi...
It's marketing focus, not company focus. Sure, they could easily do both, but that means that they have to show new hardware and new games, and since they're still shifting PS4's and they have 2 huge games coming out for it, why push PS5? It'd be a distraction from those games/detract/change the conversation - where are the next gen versions of those games? What do they look like? Did they show another game that looks better graphically? How does that impact sales of those tit...
Welcome to the Internet and human existence: where millions of people all have the same ideas/there's nothing new under the sun lol.
It just feels like an opportunity for them to either do DLC, or to do a rerelease in the form of like...Persona 5: Dancing In Starlight Royal.
And I could buy "feels incomplete", or something of that nature, but "ruined" seems a tad hyperbolic.
I think you read that headline in a negative light that isn't intended. It's not saying "only now is the Switch just getting good", it's basically saying "all the stuff that has come out, and is coming out, isn't all you're getting/isn't ending soon - it's still just the beginning". The "just beginning" is a fairly common turn of phrase to indicate more stuff is coming/things are only going to get better (or more intense, depending on ...
Just to set expectations, I got into the early mobile beta a while back & also recently dropped back in. While some things have improved (no more chest timers, for one), this game is nothing like TES. It is very linear. Veeeerrrry linear. It's a decent little mobile time waster, but definitely don't go into it with any expectations you're gonna be settling into Skyrim lite or anything lol.
I still can't believe games like this can run on base PS4 hardware. Less than 2 tflops and on old Jaguar cores. It is hard to believe what can be squeezed out when talent and extreme optimization collide.
At least from their first party - they've noted they are not mandating that for 3rd parties, as games like The Medium are not gonna be on last gen. 1st parties can certainly best use the hardware, so those titles may be held back, but at least it isn't across the board.
The math has changed for this upcoming generation on the PC vs Xbox argument.
As a multiconsole and PC owner myself, I will say that the new specs - in combination with the console price point - means if you don't already have a gaming PC - and you want a PS5 & XSX/PC - then getting a Series X is going to be FAR more cost effective and performant. I hate my OG XBO and play everything I can on my GTX 1080 powered PC. But, I mean, an RTX 2080 Super costs a bare minimu...
If you want games to have the same graphical fidelity, the only concession devs would have to make in order to account for the approximately 15% difference in GPU perf between the 5 and X would be a (comparably) small resolution decrease. For example, Series X could run at native 4k (3840 × 2160), while PS5 could run at 3300 x 2160 to make up the roughly 15% difference. I play my PC on my TV about half the time, and I play most games at 1440p there because I simply cannot see much differ...
Kind of funny how sentiment is shifting. It was previously lauded that they teased ES6 and Starfield because it helped show that they weren't abandoning their core franchises when they showed off their mobile and spinoff trashier games. This was in stark contrast to Blizzard, who did not tease their big hitters and showed off their mobile trash by itself, and they were crucified for it.
Not saying they deserve a pass, necessarily, but they did what feels like the right ...
He's referring to what Geoff Keighley tweeted in regards to an almost identical article from IGN.
In my opinion, the true best deal in gaming is Humble Monthly - specifically as a "classic" plan holder. You can choose 10 of 12 games each month for $12, and they are yours to keep forever. Obviously, if you are a day 1 game buyer (and don't like to keep your games - I do try to buy all my console games as physical & keep 'em) then I can easily see why $10 a month for Game Pass could be the best deal even though you don't get to keep anything.

It's kind of bizarre that this is their big last patch, in my eyes. You'd think that this many years after release, everyone who wanted to play it has played it. Their audience is about as big as it will get, and certainly higher than any potential new players. So instead of focusing the brunt of their efforts on giving the tens of millions of current players more to do, they are focusing on the beginners experience? I'm a bit confused by this - added easy mode for "newcomers...
EA tried doing *exactly* what you're talking about. Back when it was first announced, I was really hopeful for the quality of games & breadth of mechanics that an EA-wide use of Frostbite would bring to future games...Years later, it is as baffling as it is sad to see how it only brought pain and anguish to devs, and - against the initial sound logic - generally worse games.
But the simple idea that every studio using Frostbite meant that if an upcoming EA game used...
