There are certainly games that fit that description, but I'm not sure these are a good fit:

That whole "soy" thing is complete BS based off of things like a 1940s research paper on sheep, and a couple of one-off "correlation doesn't equal causation" typed reports on men already later on in years (aka naturally lower testosterone). I'm surprised to see it still kicking around.

That's a new potential excuse in the making. It's not "oops we forgot to remove those AI assets, sorry", it's now "real people worked to make this look like AI slop". Not saying that's what's happening here, just I can see it creeping into the PR repertoire.

It's clearly not literal irony, more like the Alanis Morissette version of irony. I think perhaps its describing the new game as fascinating and intriguing, which could vaguely insinuate that this is a change from previous titles. Outside that, not entirely sure, but somewhere in that vein is what I assume they were thinking.

If trying to see a positive from it, I'd say that it might at least show that they are getting a better sense of what to show their "core" audience, who tend to tune into things like State of Play. Instead of trying to show this off as a core thing we should all be excited about, they tossed it out on social media - a place far more likely to house people interested in a social experience.

Is this a game for me? By no means, I don't like the look of it at...

You know, I almost scrolled to the bottom to see if it was; it just felt so...odd. But the fact I kept reading, and it kept going, I felt like the joke would have been called out well before the point I got to simply due to either someone misconstruing, or - more to the point - the joke had well worn out its welcome. After your comment I opened it again to see if I missed it in the opening, but yeesh - that was one looooong "joke".

That was excessive. And kind of painful. I get wanting to get some clarity on things, but badgering what sounds to be a developer - as opposed to some higher up who is actually calling the shots - feels like the very definition of "misplaced frustration".

I don't see how anyone could see being *that* adversarial as a way to get anything other than even more silence. Hopefully the fact it yielded nothing will make those at The Gamers Lounge opt not to try that...

Yeeeesh, they got that investment from TenCent not a moment too soon, huh? After all the other issues they've had, to cancel and delay this many projects atop that is ineptitude of the highest order. If everything else hasn't proved it already, this certainly shows that the Guillemot's are simply incapable of running that company.

They've managed to somehow be *worse* than I thought they were, and I already thought they were about as big a mess as a company...

I'm not entirely sure how to read this, as it doesn't seem exactly like an exact parallel to Bethesda's paid mods shenanigans.

Rather than single player stuff, this appears to be aimed solely on Cfx Servers. From what I've gleaned, apparently Rockstar bought the Cfx mod team several years ago, coming a few years after weird contentions led them to ban a few of their members. Ultimately, the question is if they plan to keep this contained to only online/serve...

I'm sure they say this, as they rub their hands together, awaiting their payday for when they slash costs by cutting most of the staff. And then the next day they'll walk in and have a mandate from the CEO: forced use of AI. If they think AI can't do the job of middle managers, especially when the majority of the workforce at that point is other AI, they are embarrassingly naive and shortsighted.

I played D3 for over 1,000 hours. Bought D4 near release to play w/friends who bought Day 1. Got through the campaign, and found there was practically no endgame. Nothing to really keep you engaged.

"Strong performance" is an interesting choice of words, given MHW launched with - and mostly continues to have - pretty abysmal performance.

The fact they only bothered to address this criticism in earnest last month is pretty appalling. And that for PC, it'll take til Update 4 in WINTER for any of these promised changes to hit - with a second round coming *even later* - is...insane. Companies continue to reinforce that we should all pretend their release date...

Never said we couldn't focus on more things at once, that would be absurd. I was trying to say that hey, if you're going to try to rally people around a cause - given we all only have so much time, energy, and focus - that you should probably focus on sliiiiightly more impactful things than asking a video game company to remove an accessory from a clearly intelligent, anthropomorphic cow.

I truly can't decide if PETA do these kinds of things because they think if they ask about a truly stupid thing in a popular property, it'll at least get a conversation? Because if not, I just don't understand how they believe these kinds of requests are the right ones to be putting energy into.

I'm a person who's certainly for the ethical treatment of animals - and even standards for animals meant for food production to at least avoid needless suffering...

I find this...odd. We hear about them closing down, or forcing their games' removal from, many competitive gaming events with striking regularity. Most people who do competitive tournament or speedrunning will do so at many events - perhaps even the majority - which aren't sanctioned by devs, pubs, or platform holders. It seems none of them see this as a threat, except for Nintendo.

I think the information they pulled is interesting, but I do question the overall value in what conclusions can be drawn with it. There are some factors that I feel the article overlooked that would have had additive value in making use of what they collected.

I wouldn't say this was done to compare or pit the platforms against each other, at least in a "console war" mentality. Moreso, just using the two biggest similar gaming platforms, which both rely on a bulk of the same product, and comparing the similarities & differences given they have different business models and offerings.

Given how bad N4G runs these days, with slow loads and broken features, I can't do the sanity check I had hoped to do (looking at Switch channel, sorting newest/hottest/etc and seeing if a pattern emerged).
