"an attempt to demise"? That...makes no sense. Attempt to demystify perhaps?
I know some words have obscure, 4th+ level meanings I don't always know, so I looked it up to be sure. Nope, I didn't see a single definition that supports its usage here. What a weird word choice, especially for someone who gets paid to write.
I mixed things up when I mentioned Play Anywhere. I meant Steam Remote Play - they had another name at one point, I think, but it doesn't matter. That's what I meant. That's what makes GeForce now seem a little less sensible - I mean, if you really don't want to install a bunch of games locally to run off your machine, I suppose there's value there. I just assume most people would be most interested in remotely playing games they are likely currently playing - thus install...
That, too. Crazy how many games they announced with nothing to really show. Without something to see, they lack the weight those announcements would otherwise hold. Without having anything to show yet, it makes you wonder how far off these projects really are.
I'm personally more interested in hearing more about Metroid Prime 4. Announced via title card over 2 1/2 years ago, we haven't even seen any in-game footage. That's kinda...kinda nuts.
I think I just watched more enemies die in the first 60 seconds than I killed in the entirety of my P5 playthrough lol.
It is definitely strange to see a slow, turn-based game go the musou route. DQ did it decently with Heroes somewhat recently - at least I'm given to understand - but I'm still not quite sure what to make of this one. Will be interested to hear what Persona fans think when it finally releases.
"If it can deliver on the idea of letting me play games I already own from anywhere? Take my money." Lol, I get what he means, but that is a strange ass statement to read.
As mentioned in the article, you can already stream games you own (and are installed) on your home PC and play them anywhere via Play Anywhere. PS4 has Remote Play. MS has a version in beta for XBOX. All of them require you have the games installed and playing locally, but it doesn't cost y...
This looks a little more "Lucky's Tale" than "Astro Bot", and that's a shame. Perhaps it will show more in a future, longer trailer, but as it stands it doesn't seem to be as interesting as other platformers in the space have shown themselves as being capable of.
Wow, people really like paying high prices for old games it seems lol
I know it isn't Nioh exclusive, which is why I said "companies". I was using this as an example, and then speaking to the specific issue I found with it given how close to release its sequel is.
But this isn't my first rodeo, I know the games industry. I know how they operate. I know GotY versions are extremely common, even when they don't get nominated for GotY. But it is very uncommon for these games to be priced the same 2 years later, as many peopl...
Perhaps more people will just jump into the 2nd and skip the first, I'll grant you that.
But I think, if anything, you can fault them more for not having more sales on an almost 3 year old game. And if not sales, at least knocking the MSRP down from $50. If they keep that price, they are likely doing it so when they have a sale they can do "75% off!". That being the case, you'd think they'd be pushing sales a bit more frequently. If they aren't doi...
It seems a little crazy to me that companies don't do a better job of trying to push the older game for cheap before a sequel comes out.
The complete edition of this game was released in 2017, and is still retailing for $50. Seems it might have gotten below $20 a few times during sales, but you'd think a small advertising campaign saying "80% off until Nioh 2 launches - get it for $10 before the sequel releases next month" or something would get them some...
I bet if they added PS2 or PS3 games, there would be more discontent than not. I don't pay for Plus anymore, but I would have welcomed some older games when I was - I still have all my old consoles, and all my last gen consoles are still hooked up. But all you have to do is read the comments on the PS Blog to see what the vocal minority thinks - they want all the newest games for free, and if they got "old" games like that? Whew. I think Sony would get inundated with hate.
If I remember correctly (recently rewatched The Final Bosman from ages ago that mentioned this topic), they never actually promised that they were going to do it. They kind of envisioned a future where it was possible, and I think it was their way to kind of soften the blow for not having BC after both the PS2 and PS3 launched with that feature.
PS Now does have a solid number of older titles - 650+ titles, with many being "classic" - but yeah, nowhere near all o...
I would be all about porting old games to the Switch for handheld purposes...if they priced them right.
At this point, most people will already have played this between the last and current gens. Switch gets a number of these older games ported over, and I think if they were priced at like $20 ($30 max) that people would be more likely to double dip just to have a portable option of some of their favorite older games.
As it stands, it's $40 - not as e...
I would think, if anything, they'd keep 720p for handheld and bump the hardware grunt a bit, and add in some upscaling abilities when docked - something like PS4's checkerboard or Nvidia's DLSS. 720p is plenty crisp enough for handheld, and there's not much to be gained by bumping res - it'll just eat battery power for a mild res bump, and there are plenty of more demanding games in handheld that can't even hit 720p (like Wolfenstein, going as low as 360p).

So far, I'd put this squarely on Google's shoulders. I think you could buy a platform with the belief a company is going to give it at least moderate support, especially given we're so deep into this "generation" as it gives companies a huge catalog of games ready to be ported over. Google has been silent, 3rd party pubs have been silent. Their free tier is nowhere in sight. Few games have been added. Features that were supposed to be out by now aren't, and they have...
@Shaggy - Regarding the console comment: That's not a particularly apt comparison, in my estimation.
For PS4, there have been (according to a quick google search result), over 2400 games released for the PS4 - that gives a fair idea of what has been released over the generation. So even if you were "just" the 24th best title released so far, that would put you in the top 1% of games released this generation. Being better than 99% of games released seems like a...
This was a pretty weak article. EA are not my favorite company by a long shot, but I feel like this is just more of the "hate EA because they are EA" brand of hate. Plenty of other companies didn't support Switch before they "jumped on the bandwagon once it proved profitable". And plenty who jumped in early haven't done anything since.
Ubisoft only made M+R:Kingdom Battle and nothing else, and that was clearly a very specific cooperative project....
This is a bit bizarre. The way this was written makes it sound like this game was newly announced, is being actively funded, and recently hit stretch goals. That's not at all the case.
This game was posted to KS around February of 2019. It appears to have hit its funding goal a couple of weeks later, its physical copy stretch goal hit days later, and the campaign ended a few days after that. The KS page, in regards to stretch goals, hasn't been updated since the cam...
How the heck did FFX sneak into the description? I mean, I guess you could grind gil and use Yojimbo to "pay to win", but I don't think I've seen a battle pass for it yet lol
