Look I don't have a problem with paying more for games in general but you can buy a physical copy of any 3rd party game on consoles for less than 60€ day one. That includes profit for the online retailer, publisher and royalties that go to Sony or MS.
In this case MS is publishing the game themselves on their own platform and it's digital. That means no middleman, no production cost and no royalties. The full 70€ go to MS. That seems really greedy to me.
70€ price point and UWP are really off-putting. Also no way of downloading the live action episodes is a deal breaker for me.
I hope they are making a new IP out of this. They would have much more freedom to create an awesome game. I guess you could explain the sudden appearance of new gods, giants and mythological creatures as some kind of new world creation since Kratos pretty much destroyed the exising world in GoW 3 but I don't think Kratos would fit into a norse myth all too well at least not as the protagonist.
Kratos wouldn't really have much of a reason to go after the norse gods any...
Agreed. I hope we get a new character as well. Kratos' story has been told. It makes more sense to begin a new story.
No you don't develop the entire game on low, medium or high settings but at some points you still have custom assets for each setting which means additional work. Granted most of the aspects of a game are scalable through the engine but that doesn't eliminate additional work completely.
When you set the settings on your PC version you never really get the most out of your hardware. All you do is switch preset settings and balance performance with quality. When the dev...
The difference is I can easily upgrade my graphics card in my PC while I'll probably have to buy the entire console again just to get the stronger gpu in the PS4.5.
No one develops software for a specific Samsung Galaxy phone as a platform. The platform is Android or ios in the case of apple. The optimisation is a much more important factor on consoles than it is on phones. You can't directly compare the two.
I'm not saying it's a bad or a good thing. It'll probably have pros and cons. We don't have enough information to estimate how much of an impact a PS4.5 would have.
They'll most likely make a PC port and maybe even a Nintendo NX port as well. After such a long time developing the game they'll surely want to bring the game to as many platforms as possible.
Well if the most recent rumors are true then it has a GPU that's twice as powerful as the one in the original PS4. There is no way that devs aren't going to use that power for non-VR games.
The PS4 is capable of outputting a 4k video signal as it is right now.
Nice. Hopefully when this is successful they can make a reimagination of Shadow of the Beast 2.
I'd love if they'd just call it Nintendo Entertainment System as a sign that they are going back to their roots of awesomeness. But in the end it's the technical engineering decisions that are going to matter the most. Hopefully after seeing the Wii-U flop they realised that they are better off dropping the unnecessary, expensive gimmicks that have compromised the Wii-U and made it unattractive for 3rd party devs. They need to refocus on the core gaming expirience.
Holy smokes the woods in Kingdom come look insane.
I agree that they have to get the soundtrack right. The dynamic soundtrack of System Shock is one of the key components that made the game so atmospheric. From what they've showed I'm very pleased with the graphics of the game.
There's no doubt that they'll completely revamp the controls of the game and probably change the interface and inventory to some extent. I also expect some bigger changes in the Cyberspace levels. Other than that they should stay as clo...
A touchscreen controller would be a bad idea anyway. Imagine having to play a fighting game with touch controls.
Personally I didn't like the Gamecube controller but I'd take it over this design any day of the week.
Not surprised at all. I mean I was hoping that Nintendo would come to their senses but I wasn't expecting it. Obviously that's not official and I'll reserve judgement till we get the full picture. Can't say I'm optimistic though.
@Aeery: I think there is a a small chance that it comes to Steam at a later time like Rise of the Tomb Raider did.
They should also give us an option to download the live action episodes on PC. Having to stream them is unnecessarily inconvenient.
To be fair you expect a PC that fits comfortably on your head and is capable of rendering fairly demanding games at 1080p @60fps with an OLED display attached to it to cost $400.
Better gameplay - That goes for every sequel of any game. The core gameplay is fine as it is though.
No stupid QTE's - Nothing stupid about QTE's imo.
No recycled boss fights - Agreed. Boss fights were pretty weak in 1886. There is definitely a lot of unused potential for awesome boss fights.
Better enemy AI - Again improvements are always welcome however I thought that the AI in The Order 1886 was pretty good already.
