Not sure how trustworthy those guys are but if they are to be believed it looks like MS screwed up big time.

Hopefully someone spills the beans on what went wrong.
Most games would look rough when showed off in such an early state of development. The concept looked interessting though. Shame indeed.
You can easily get all characters without spending any real money on them.
Why don't you just stop watching conferences then. If you want to stay uninformed you can do that. I for one want to know what my favorite devs are working on and I appreciate that Sony and their studios are sharing information about games that are early in development.
The japanese don't seem to like the God of War franchise very much. I'm also surprised that Ni no Kuni isn't on the list.
The game is almost 2 years old. They supported the game for 9 months after launch and released an amazing Add on. "Lazy developers" is an incredibly ignorant thing to say here especially when you have no idea how busy they are working on new projects and wether Sony even reached out to them in that regard.
Mark Cerny made a Pro patch for Knack because he is working for Sony and he is the system architect of the Playstation 4 and the Playstation 4 Pro.
I see. That will certainly take another couple of years. If next gen consoles push for native 4k resolution you'll probably get a GPU like that reasonably soon. The 980ti is a beast and will remain a great performing GPU for some time so you shouldn't have a problem waiting 3-4 years.
You can't expect a minimum standard like that because that would require devs to be forced to achieve this standard which is not happening especially not on PC. Saying that a GPU should achieve 4k @60fps on ultra settings doesn't contain any menaingful information at all. "Ultra settings" isn't an industry standard. Ultra settings in one game can be less demanding than low settings in another game.
I personally don't like this early jump to 4k. I ...
Gotta agree with Aenea and ninsigma. There are many more important details to take into account when it comes to choosing the right 4k TV for gaming. Ideally you'd want a larger screen, a 10 bit panel (with good peak brightness and black level), hdmi 2.0 and a relatively low input lag in gaming mode with HDR enabled. Most TVs that achieve those goals are very expensive and even then many of them struggle to achieve all of them.
@Goldby: Did hardcore mode have all the difficulties unlocked from the start? If I recall correctly it was the same as the standard mode just with perma death which would be pointless on the low difficulties anyway.
Diablo 3 is the best example of a game that was ruined by low difficulty for me. Sadly you are forced to play it on low difficulty to unlock the higher difficulties meaning there is absolutely no challenge in your first playthrough at all. I remember killing Maghda in less than 5 seconds seconds with the Which Doctor.
"The current form of VR has more, better, uses in fields outside of gaming."
Agree on that 100%. VR is absolutely amazing tech but when people praise it for enhancing gaming they often seem to ignore how much it also limits game design at the same time. It is still very new tech and developers haven't even figured out the most basic solutions yet.
That didn't really work out with the Wii-U though. To be fair the Wii-U didn't have the strongest Nintendo first party line up but I think Nintendo needs more than just first party games to be successful. 3rd Party support is going to be important for people that don't own another console and/or a gaming PC already. I'm curious to see how broad the 3rd party support is going to be and if 3rd parties keep supporting it in the long run once next gen consoles launch in a couple o...
@NewMonday: SATA III has been a bottleneck for modern SSDs so technically they might not be used to their full potential. But it's pretty much the best thing you can expect from a console cause it probably hasn't any unused PCIe lanes. SATA III will make the use of SSDs viable so it's good news for people that want faster loading times and a more responsive os.
Edit: Didn't see Corpser's reply before posting.
Andrew House specifically said that their motivation was to keep people from migrating to PC mid-console lifecycle:
[Regarding the PlayStation 4 Pro, he suggested the Xbox wasn’t even being considered its main competition. Rather, it was the PC. “I saw some data that really influenced me,” he said. “It suggested that there’s a dip mid-console lifecycle where the players who want the very best graphi...
The thing is most of these are identical on the standard PS4. Controls and games catalogue is exactly the same. Price is a little better on the PS4 and graphics are a little better on the PS4 Pro. I don't think that Sony will successfully keep people from going to PC gaming if they really want to switch. I also don't think that Sony should even worry about people switching to PC gaming in the first place.
Both PC gaming and console gaming have their pros and cons. ...
I hope that MS decides to bring the missing games to PC as well. I'd be interessted in the franchise if I could play the whole story from beginning to end.
I doubt that they would have to increase the price by much (if at all) considering that Sony is a member of the blu-ray disc association and are already producing UHD drives anyway. They should've done it either way just to tick a box for their 4k marketing campaign.
4k streaming is not an acceptable alternative. The bitrates of 4k streamed movies are often times below the
bitrates of standard blu-ray movies. Not to mention that HDR will increase the need for ...
Well you don't have to play with the DS4 if you don't want to. Get an arcade stick or a fight pad. Problem solved.
Hopefully some publisher can pick up Scalebound and let him finish it. If Kamiya somehow managed to keep the assets and IP rights it should be a bargain considering the game has been in development for quite some time. Can't wait to see how the situation unfolds.
