Someone should test whether this is repeatable. It could've been just a random server crash.

@Eonjay: Yes it was in February 2013. E3 was pretty important for them that year. The timing was: Announcement in Frebruary > E3 in June > Launch in November.

Seems unlikely. If they were to announce it in February 2019 and launch in let's say November 2019 (same months as PS4) they'd want to be at E3. I think them not being at E3 indicates that the PS5 announcement event is scheduled for after E3 2019.

@derek: Not if the PS5 announcement event is scheduled after E3. Most unannounced games that they are working on are probably PS5 games which they can't talk about before announcing the PS5. They also probably took the negative feedback from last year (about the lack of new announcements) and came to the conclusion that they just don't have enough of a reason to be at E3 next year.

If it makes their PS5 event better I don't see much of a problem with that. This...

Well the article writer doesn't know what he is talking about. It's 100% frames not ms. Even if you know nothing about input lag it's easy to see.

Look at the video parts that aren't slowed down. If it were ms (meaning milliseconds aka a thousandth of a second) it would count 1000ms per second which it obviously doesn't even come close to. Then watch the slowed down parts it counts 1 per new frame meaning it counts the frames.

If it we...

Except that the game doesn't have 11ms of input lag to begin with. 1ms is 1/1000 second. That's not what the number on the display is showing. It's a frame counter meaning that it's not 11 ms but 11 frames which adds up to around 363ms of input lag @ 30fps.An average of 11ms is technically impossible to achieve under 90fps and even then it would need to have a lag of 1 frame. Even the most responsive games on console have around 66ms of lag (~4 frames @60fps).

This is what they should've done. But these classic mini consoles are obviously designed to make a quick buck with low effort. Can't say I'm surprised.

I agree. There is only so much money in this business model. It obviously isn't at it's max yet so I do believe that the subscription market has room to grow, just not nearly as much as these publishers would want it to. I don't think that the market will crash though unless the publishers completely abandon physically and digitally bought copies.

Well that's one way to help a youtube channel gain traction.

If we're talking about dream teams I'd personally rather have Yoshinori Kitase or Hiroyuki Ito directing the next Final Fantasy as they've made my favorite games in the series but I doubt that's going to happen because they seem to have retired from directing games for a while now (at least that seems to be the case with Kitase).

Nobuo Uematsu sadly seems to have some unspecified health issues at the moment and he didn't seem to have much of an interest ...

That's a shame. I think the release model of the FFXV dlc was a bad choice. Even though I really like FFXV I haven't bothered to get the the dlc yet because I wanted to wait for all of them to release first. I'm assuming a lot of people did the same thing because it doesn't seem like a good idea to periodically get back to the game to only play a small dlc. They should've done a proper expansion that fills in some of the missing plot points and noticably enhances the base ...

What these publishers don't seem to understand is that no one wants to have a bunch of subscriptions just for gaming alone. I doubt that a lot of people are willing to pay for a separate subscription for every major publisher in addition to the platform holder's subscription for online play. I may be wrong but I think that this subscription-based market only looks promising as long as there aren't too many services out there. Once the number of subscription services reaches the th...

I guess this is one big benefit of having an archive of scored reviews for reference. I've started gaming in the 16-bit era and making a "top 10 best games of all time" list would be very hard for me to do. I'd probably take hours building a much bigger list first that would include all of my favorite games on each platform. Narrowing that list down to an overall top 10 would probably result in a different list on any given day of the week.

If someone refers to Bloodborne as a button masher that's enough evidence for me that they haven't played it. Bloodborne punishes you for button mashing. I'd even argue that the majority of people that got frustrated and quit the game early have done so because they couldn't get rid of their button mashing habit.

Well if it comes out on Steam I'll definitely pick it up. I've been an Insomniac fan since the PSOne days. Good to see this game potentially getting a second chance on PC.

Blizzard have progressively become more casual games-oriented ever since they released WoW (with the possible exception of Starcraft 2 which I've never played). It works for them so it's obviously not a bad business-move. On one hand I understand the frustrations of the fans but on the other hand I can't even get hyped for Diablo 4 because I was so disappointed with Diablo 3. Basically my expectations for anything Blizzard are already fairly low so I wasn't nearly as disappoin...

@rainslacker: Look. I'm not saying that PS1 games are unplayable on the PS3 by any means. I played PS1 games on my PS3 for a couple of years and was quite happy with the result aside from some rare graphical gliches due to emulation problems. Only after comparing it to the original PSOne hardware I noticed how much better the games look and play so I started looking into the reasons why that was the case.

The "interlaced flicker" I'm talking about is just ...

@Profchaos: Yeah I agree. I know it's not for me I'm just saying it would be great if they made the perfect retro console with analog output and with an online store so you could download new games onto it. I am fully aware that that's very unlikely because the market for a retro console like that would probably still be to niche for them to go all out negotiating with publishers to get as many of them on board as possible. Not to mention that it isn't always clear who owns th...

@rainslacker: Oh I know what's available. I've been working on my retro setup for almost a decade now (including countless hours of reading up on the theory, soldering my own cables , replacing caps in my CRT TV, modding CRT TV and consoles). If you accuse me of being ignorant maybe you should at least know the most basic things which I can only assume you don't when you're asking me why I'd want to output a 240p signal to my CRT.

Most PSOne games run i...

@nitus10: Like I said I'm playing my retro games on a CRT-TV. The problem with the PS3 is that it can't output a 240p signal. Instead it outputs at 480i even when connected through analog RGB to a CRT-TV resulting in flicker.

Also I have a working PSone so why would I choose to run my disc-based games on non-native hardware to begin with?

Not to mention that my PS3 has had it's 3rd YLOD and isn't working at the moment. Unfortunately ther...
