I'm the same way. I rarely preorder games or buy them day one, but with some directors or studios I'm making an exception. I sometimes end up reading or watching some reviews after I've finished the game, just to compare my thoughts with some of the people that I respect from the industry.
I've been gaming since 1994 so I pretty much know what games I'll like. It's very rare that I end up regretting a purchase. And Death Stranding is one of the easi...
It's the fair thing to do. I doubt it'll have much of an impact on sales. At least people that absolutely want the PC version, now have the choice between waiting and double dipping.
No game is for everyone. Previous Kojima games weren't for everyone and reviewed really well. I think it'll review well with people that liked Kojima's previous games.
I only pay close attention to a handful of reviews anyway. I'm still curious in the general consensus, but someone's opinion on a game doesn't affect me, when I don't know his/her gaming history.
The only thing I can imagine, that could even come close to the public reaction of the FFVII remake is a Half-Life 3 announcement. If it ever happens, chances are it won't happen at a Sony conference. So yeah 2015 is probably not gonna get beaten in the perception of the general public for a long time.
The amazing thing is that Sony also followed it up with the 2016 conference, which was incredibly packed as well: God of War, Days Gone, Resident Evil VII, Death Strandin...
They'll most likely try to buy the domain from him. I think that he can get a good amount of money out of Bethesda, if he plays his cards right.
While you're at your crystal ball, can you tell me the lottery numbers for the upcoming weeks?
Gaming has been around for a long time. The amount of masterpieces that has accumulated over the years makes it hard to name one game, that should be found in the majority of top 10 lists.
It also depends on your criteria. Street Fighter 2 is by far the most important fighting game in the history of gaming. It certainly isn't the best fighting game by today's standards, but if you value historical significance I can see why you'd put it on a list over technicall...

@sampsonon: If this was a PS4 game I'd agree. I doubt Guerrilla is gonna make a Ubisoft-style sequel, where most of the game-mechanics stay the same. I think they are being very ambitious and try to push every aspect of the sequel to the next level. 2022 might be a bit conservative but I'd honestly be shocked if they were ready for the PS5 launch.
But of course I'm speculating on the base of nothing really, so without knowing what has been going on behind the sc...
I highly doubt that. PS5 will come out three years after the release of Frozen Wilds. Even if they went into pre-production right after Zero Dawn came out, it'll be approximately three and a half years. It's gonna be a sequel, which potentially saves some development time compared to starting a new IP from scratch, but it's also gonna be a new console generation. That means, that a lot of work has to be put into updating the engine and reworking the assets.

The dlc bosses are all amazing. The Laurence fight is an audio-visual masterpiece. Gameplay-wise I love Ludwig and Orphan the most.
Also shoutouts to Sekiro for having some amazing boss fights (Hirata-owl and Isshin, the sword saint in particular).
Hopefully Death Stranding will have some cool bosses as well. Kojima tends to be very creative with designing boss fights. And when Elden Ring comes out I'm sure Miyazaki will deliver again.
I was on the same side of the argument when we had major issues with the iq (sub HD resolutions, aliasing, low res textures), but now framerate lags behind in a big way. People always pose the argument as if you'd have to choose between visual fidelity and performance, not realising that better performance is also part of visual fidelity, especially on lower framerates (sub 60).
All the detail in the world isn't gonna make a difference, if you barely see any of it w...
I didn't get it repaired by Sony. I know an Electrical engineer who is repairing a bunch of game consoles, so he always has spare parts lying around. He also has an Infrared BGA rework station so he can replace the RSX. Unfortunately that means that the replacement parts are already used and have gone through an unknown amount of heating and cooling cycles.
It's unlikely to ever be a permanent repair, which is why I'm hoping for full bc with PSN title support. I...
I think it's too late for keeping it simple. Knowing Microsoft's notorious inability to count, they'll probably call it Xbox 3 because it doesn't make any sense no matter how you count.
I hope that they keep working on it even if they don't get it perfect at launch. I also really hope that they're working on PS3 emulation as well.
I still have a working PS1 and PS2, which I play on my CRT-TV, but my PS3 got YLOD for the second time a while ago. I'm getting tired of having the RSX replaced just to get the same problem 1-2 years down the line. I've actually missed out on Nier: Automata because of me wanting to play Nier first, which I can...
That's an elegant way of going in with a preconceived notion, and ending up with the desired conclusion no matter what happens in between. It's called confirmation bias.
Fairly small patch at just over 1GB so even with my slow connection I'll be able to download it in 20 minutes or so. I'll probably install the update before starting up the game then. The wait is almost over. Looking forward to playing through most of the weekend.
