You seem to know something I don't so correct me where I'm wrong. I assume the idea behind subscription based services is to get a stable monetization of the casual groups, that are otherwise not spending much money. The reason for the 1$ deals and the generally low monthly fee is to lower the entry barrier and grow the user base. During this phase I'd imagine that devs get a very good compensation to attract more content for the service.
The problem is that sub...
How they deal with this part of the story will be absolutely crucial. Before GoW (2018) was announced I was very sceptical about the next GoW being set in a different mythology, because of the can of worms it would open. Every civilisation has their own creation-myth, afterlife and gods. If all those myths take place in the same world some things have to give, because they are in direct contradiction to each other. So they are either parallel worlds/realms or they are cyclical and the whole w...
A no-cut camera can makes sense for a movie which you can watch in one sitting. Even then I'd say most of the effectiveness comes from reducing cuts to a minimum or to zero in a single scene. You can have some carefully chosen cuts and still achieve mostly the same effect. Having zero cuts in a whole movie is much more a technical achievement, than it is necessary an effective story-telling device imo.
In a game like God of War it's completely useless to be idealist...
I think we'll see a much bigger graphical leap than you might be expecting. While you're correct, that a higher resolution and framerate can eat up much of the available recources, I think your assumption that 4k 60fps will be the common target will end up being wrong.
Higher framerates and resolution will be the easiest way to utilize the consoles processing power, but I also think that going for a full 3840x2160 framebuffer is the least effective and most wasteful...

Functionality first as far as I'm concerned. This design might allow them to install a bigger heat sink and an axial fan to properly cool the APU without sounding like a starting jet engine.
General thoughts on the pics:
C8 inlet bodes well for power efficiency. I wouldn't put too much emphasis on missing USB-C slots as this could easily change for the retail version. HDMI-in probably won't get added though unless the interface is already on the motherb...
Memes existed throughout human history. Internet memes are a subcategory. The term 'meme' was coined by Richard Dawkins in his book "The Selfish Gene", which came out in 1976.
I don't know about better. It would be a good way to screw up the significance of that moment in the original story though.
You're looking at 6 seconds of a highly compressed low resolution video, from an early 2019 build of a 3rd-party PS5/PC game. If you're disappointed that your mind is not blown, I'd suggest waiting for a better quality video of a current build before drawing conclusions.
It should go without saying that most "showcases for next-gen" will likely come from 1st-party studios. They're the first to know the target spec and probably the first to get thei...
I'm just excited to see some next-gen gameplay footage. Unfortunately the video quality isn't very good. The use of vibrant colors and particle effects look cool though.
According to the OP on reddit the footage is from an early 2019 build of the game.
The 2080 Ti already uses a salvaged TU102 die with 4 SMs disabled. Higher quality silicon goes into the Titan RTX, so there won't be a 2080 Ti Super.
Also AMD should worry about competing with Nvidia's next-gen $700-$800 cards rather than the current $1100+ card.
@dontbhatin: I don't necesarrily see a reason why it needs to be a wednesday. Im just speculating based on what Jaffe said combined with the historical stats of the PS4 reveal event. I'm personally putting more weight on what Jaffe said so I'm assuming it'll be less than 4 weeks away.
Could've sworn that part of your comment wasn't there when I clicked reply. Did you edit that in by any chance? If not, sorry I probably overlooked it somehow.
Are you sure you are not confusing it with the "Destination Playstation" event? I don't remember an event with the name "Experience Playstation" happening in 2013 and I can't find it by that name.
I'm talking about the PS5 reveal. "Experience Playstation" is a month long celebration and not officially connected to the PS5 in any way.
"Experience PlayStation
January 14, 2020 - February 16, 2020
12:00pm to 7:00pm EST
Celebrate 25 Years of Play with a collection of titles on PS4 and PS VR."
My guess is February 12th.
Jaffe said it's less than 4 weeks away so it would be before the 13th. If it was before the 6th he could've said less than 3 weeks instead (of course less than 4 weeks would still be technically true).
If it's really as soon as Ferbruary 5th an announcement should be imminent. PS4 announcement for the reveal event was 3 weeks in advance (which imo was pretty late).
The PS4 reveal event was on a Wed...
Announcement should probably happen within a week from now. Could even be within a day because Jaffe leaked it. I was starting to think that we might not see an event in february because Sony hasn't announced it along with them skipping E3. This is reassuring.
Yeah I've heard about that. I'm not as much surprised about them skipping E3 as I am about them staying silent on the plans they have instead. Don't you think it would've been a good opportunity to soften the backlash of the E3 news?
That's a long way of saying that they are playing their cards close to the chest, because they have a royal flush and want Microsoft to go all-in before revealing their hand.
While that's a possibility, we don't know if that's indeed what's happening. And it would still beg the question why they started talking about the PS5 so early then? We're approaching the timeframe where they probably should start marketing the console they plan to launch this ...
I'm wondering what their strategy is. Not showing up at E3 may or may not be a big deal. It depends on what they have planned instead. The silence is what's really puzzling to me at this point. There is some negitive publicity out there from PS5 being much weaker than the Series X to Sony getting arrogant again. While all of these assessments are premature I can't help but wonder why Sony is staying silent.
I also wonder whether starting the PS5 talk in April la...
Only a small percentage of games get remasters. Running games at higher framerates and resolutions than they originally did on the consoles is just a nice side effect that's made possible through the progress of technology. The primary purpose of emulation is the preservation of gaming history.
