Yeah, but the discs had a lot of duplicated data, which is not ideal when dealing with limited storage space on a console. They could require you to keep part 2 and make part 3 act as an expansion, but that would still result in a massive file size requirement. Not to mention that selling them at full price probably wouldn't fly if they aren't standalone titles.

Due to the multi-generational dev cycle this is a much larger challenge than to make the original game wo...

Oh then I totally agree. The exploration aspect of the original is an essential part of the game. It'll be interesting to see how they deal with the world being split across multiple games though. Ideally you'd reach a point where the majority of the world is explorable, but that might be a problem in terms of file size.

Part 2 will probably open up compared to the first one, but it might not be fully open world. If they keep the original sequence of events roughly intact, I doubt that the Highwind will even come into play before Part 3. I think Part 2 will most likely end at the Forgotten City. They'll have a lot of ground to cover to even reach that.

While it immitated many aspects of the original games it was coded from the ground up. Maybe the end product looked and felt to close to the originals, but I think it's more likely that Sega has changed their tune on this kind of issue after seeing that recruiting fan-project devs can work in their favor.

You could've realized the subjective nature of such examples when you disagreed with Foxtrot about MGS and BoTW, yet you're trying to pass your issues with TLoU 2 as objective flaws. Even if some of them are objective, the priorities of a group of gamers are never perfectly aligned. Different people can be fans of the same thing for very different reasons. One person's major flaw might be another person's minor gripe, or not even be important enough to pay attention to in the ...

"Not to be pedantic but you're buying Integrade which is on the disc. The Yuffie DLC is a bonus. "

I could see that argument if they weren't reprinting the game while advertising it with the dlc content. There is no reason why they couldn't just put it on a disc and sell the complete package. Considering the new content is digital only and there is a free upgrade path for the PS4 version, I don't see why anyone would pay full price for this.

I don't care if it's 2021 or 2075. It's a physical release and as such should contain the full game. Otherwise what's the point of releasing the game in physical form at all?

There are multiple reasons, why I prefer physical. The main reason is that I want to be minimally dependent on external infrastructures, but on top of that I also have a slow internet connection, so having to download part of a game or big day 1 patches is always annoying.

First check if you have the newest firmware as there were some issues with VRR on older firmwares of the C9. Also check if you have instant game response activated for the HDMI port you're using.

If you still notice frame drops it might be because:

-VRR can't do anything about the inherent stutter of lower frame rates. 30-40 fps is just less fluid than 50-60fps, because your brain has less information to process.

-While judder g...

Resident Evil games never were big. Pretty sure that the REmake 2, 3 and RE7 were ~20GB each.

Smart move. At the very least it'll bring some attention to their games. If Jaffe can use his experience and knowledge of the industry to help them out, that's even better. With that said, I doubt that Jaffe will return to full time development anytime soon.

Looks unbelievably good even in the compressed youtube stream. Gonna look even better once we get to play it. Hats off to Insomniac.

27% of developers being interested in developing VR games is extremely good news for VR. The fact that it's even close to regular console development is somewhat surprising to me.

I've been wondering why we haven't seen anything new on this game recently. Glad to see that it's still progressing. This looks pretty awesome.

Talking about target frame rate is actually closer to reality than talking about a locked frame rate. Developers target a frame rate which determines the available render budget (the time to render each frame). A 60 fps target gives you a render budget of ~17 milliseconds (one sixtieth of a second).

Profiling tools are used to understand exactly how the render budget is being used and optimisations are made to stay within this budget as much as possible. A cap is added to p...

This is the most next-gen thing I've seen so far. The amount of detail on display is incredible. Can't wait to see and hear more at the State of Play.

It's the perfect fit for older titles too. As we transition out of the cross-gen period 120 fps modes will probably become increasingly rare due to the increased complexity of 'new gen' games. Last gen games on the other hand aren't nearly as demanding so getting them up to 120 fps is a great way of offering some options for people that have a 120Hz panel.

I assume Sony's lower level API makes system level tweaks like this much harder to achieve. That's one of the advantages of working on a higher abstraction level. The tradeoff is that a high level API won't give you access to the same degree of hardware utilization of any given system. Basically the same thing that makes some Playstation titles so impressive, might stand in the way of features like this.

Multiplayer games rarely manage to captivate me these days. Still kinda curious to see what they're working on. Personally I hope it's more on the shooter than the looter side of things. If this is another Destiny type game, I guess I'll pass.

I highly doubt that's possible to be honest. PS1 and PS2 had a crazy amount of 3rd party exclusives. The hardware differences between different platforms were much more significant during those generations and creating ports wasn't nearly as straight forward as it is today. Not to mention that the incentive to port games wasn't that big to begin with, because Playstation was so dominant during that time. Only way I could see them getting anywhere near those numbers is by investing...

Same here. I've gone from slightly curious to very interested since they've announced the game. When I get my PS5 this will surely be on the shopping list. 80€ still seems a bit steep for a roguelike bullethell shooter, but it might just be due to the fact that we usually don't see these genres executed at such a high production value. Hopefully the game is deep and varied enough to keep players engaged throughout the whole experience.
