I disagree. The hype is based on people thinking it's a Silent Hill game directed by Kojima. Even if it turns out to be a halfway decent indie horror title (which I doubt), it'll be crushed under the expectations that have been built around it.
Considering Blue Box's nonexistent track record, the public display of incompetence and the incompatibility between the stated budget of 250k and the scale of the project, I don't even see them shipping the game to be...
@Soldierone: Thanks. I've just read the article. Nuare and Dekogon are legit. The fact that representatives of both companies declined to comment strikes me as odd. Maybe Hasan considers buying premade assets form the Unreal Engine marketplace a collaboration with outsourcing partners.
"He can only name 2 partners and neither one would confirm their involvement."
Interesting. I don't think I've seen that. Do you remember what 2 partners were named?
To be fair this includes the "more than 7" alleged outsourcing partners and freelancers. I think their internal employee count is 10, but your point still stands.
I'm currently in the process of verifying a screenshot of a PSN conversation with Hasan where he allegedly claims that they're working on a budget of ~250k. Curiously he calls it AA. Assuming the claim was made, it would be a big red flag for the project as a whole. With 10 employees you'll b...
Yeah, it seems like the only reason for that date existing is that it would be exactly 11 years after Skyrim. It's a rough estimate and certainly a placeholder date for now.
Maybe it's just me, but I feel like it needed to have a more impressive debut showing. I don't think we would've even seen this at E3 if Bethesda was still independent.
Agreed. This one I'm looking forward to trying out though. Downloading the demo as we speak.
Everything else was either uninteresting or straight up disappointing. Babylon's Fall being a service game is a letdown. I love Platinum Games, but that trailer was embarrassing. And how do you not put the Final Fantasy pixel remaster on consoles?
Obviously there are noticeable tradeoffs between the modes, but a slightly softer image doesn't bother me. The most jarring difference is going down to 30fps so the "fidelity mode" is a no-go for me personally, especially in a game with so much action happening on the screen. The resolution tradeoff between performance and performance + RT might be worth it for some people sitting close enough to the screen to be bothered by the reduced clarity.
I'll almos...
"I think that's just something that enables us to really lean into what we are best at," Battlefield 2042 design director Daniel Berlin told Eurogamer about the lack of a single-player campaign - something that's been a series mainstay since Battlefield 3. "If you look at the DNA of the studio, what we've been doing for so long, we just said you know what, we're not going to have a traditional single-player campaign this time around, but we're going to put a...
They aren't minor things at all. A PS4 version lacking key game mechanics would never fly. When designing a game, you're balancing the player experience around everything you put in the game. This is why it's always emphasized to cut features as early as possible if you're gonna cut them at all. If you cut them late, not only have you wasted a lot of resources on them, but you've already created so many dependencies that the ripple effect will leave you with a broken and u...
Sure. I think there are 3 main areas:
1: World / Level Design
Problem: Current games are very limited in how levels / worlds have to be designed to function without interruption of loading screens. If you pay attention to many modern games like Final Fantasy VII Remake, you'll notice that you have larger areas where you can freely move seperated by corridors which function as a loading zone. The larger areas are limited by the amount of data that fits into memo...
I feel like people are expecting too much from Super Resolution. It is a purely spatial upscaling algorithm, meaning it's working on a frame by frame basis. Games like Ratchet & Clank already use a proprietary tempotal upsampling algorithm. I don't know the exact details of their "temporal injection" method but usually temporal upsampling takes two lower resolution frames and reconstruct a higher resolution frame from it.
My guess would be that Super R...
The author seems confused and contradicts herself multiple times throughout the article. Obviously these games will run and look best on PS5. Everybody understands that. The issue isn't with performance or visual fidelity, but with fundamental game design limitations being dictated by 2013 console hardware.
The only time she comes close to the essence of the issue, she make a u-turn because she doesn't want to "sound like a massive wanker". Then she someho...
It's great to see performance + RT as an option from day 1 this time. It was easily the best choice in Miles Morales in my opinion. Bummer it's not on disc and requires a patch though.
Target platforms are determined at the start of pre-production. You can't simply add a much weaker platform mid development without invalidating a big portion of the work done to that point. Chip shortage and Covid have absolutely nothing to do with these games being cross-gen. Besides, PS5 sells like hot cakes so I don't see Sony having much higher expectations than the actual numbers, even pre chip shortage.
Backwards compatibility is a non-factor as well. You'...
That would be awesome, although I don't think it's likely outside of a scripted "on-rails" setpiece. The density of assets in the gameplay trailer was very high. While that will certainly be scaled down for the PS4, I assume it would still be very hard to make it work without creating a pop-in nightmare on the last gen console.
One of the most annoying side effects of the Zenimax deal is that some fans now seem to think that any publisher is up for grabs. The gaming industry isn't the fantasy football league where you can draft a dream team just to get more points than your friends.
Gamers should be careful what they wish for. These type of acquisitions might not yield the results they're hoping for. As long as a publisher is successful and creates quality titles there is no reason for dra...
I haven't played it on my PS4, because the spoilers killed my hype (not the content of the spoilers, just being spoiled in general). At least my first playthrough will be in 60fps.
I doubt it. This wouldn't be a simple port to make and the PC spec requirements would be way too high to make it feasible right now.
Well deserved. Kitase is a legend.
Hopefully they learn from this and get their next game to "a satisfactory level" before shipping it.
