Hmm, I guess I was not paying attention to my first post but it was not meant to compare next gen to last gen. I probably needed to reword my post but couldn't edit when I got back to it. Moving along, my comment is an generalization of my frustration of publishers passing off pre rendered cut scenes using game engine assets as real time graphics.
My comment is not really a knock on TLOU or was it meant to compare last gen to next gen. TLOU is a very good looking game but...
Who mentioned anything about Uncharted? The Last of US looked good but not like some of the cut scenes passed off as gameplay I saw before buying TLOU. I don't get launching games on certain platforms later than the others. It only makes sense when you have new consoles launching later than the game release date. I don't know if its me but seem like half the time publishers are stepping on their own toes when it comes to releasing titles on the Wii U and PC. Very impressive if this games ships looking like this in real time gameplay. None of that The Last of US passing pre rendered cut scenes using in game engine as actually gameplay. For the most part it seem like Crytek has tried to damage their own software with some of the stuff they have been saying. Crytek has been The Revenge Of The Toxic Don Mattrick effect in the PR department.
As much as I like the DR series (Own 1&2) I'm just not feeling this game at all. Now I can't wait to get my hands on KI, starting to dig Ryse a bit more every time I see it.
Don Mattrick took a page from Nintendo and thought MS could get away with releasing weaker hardware and focusing on gimmicks (Kinect). For awhile MS and Sony copied everything Nintendo did after seeing the success of the Wii. Nintendo released motion controls, Sony/MS oh we now have the PS Move and Kinect! 2nd screen/tablet/3DS? Yeah 1st party games is something MS has let slip away with only a handful of blockbusters. Unlike this generation MS will not have the multiple platform advantage making the system an harder sale for $500.
Going digital is good for hard drive manufactures. Soon people will have hard drives stacked like memory cards in shoe boxes back in the day.
Besides the regular NES my next 3 Nintendo systems worked until the day they were either given away or traded in.
I guess you never played PS1 right? PS1 CD Rom failure rate might have been as high as the X360 heating issues. PS2 is the only Sony console that never failed on me.
Or I can just buy physical copies, trade the games in when I'm done to get some money back and not have to worry about HD size.
The 500 GB HDs will probably be more or less 400-465 GBs for both consoles after conversion and bloat ware. Any who if I'm not mistaken XB1 will support external HD at some point after launch via USB like the X360. With PS3 games filling up Blu Rays and Hard drives I wonder what the hard drive space will be required for next gen high end digital downloads? And people think going all digital is a great idea with next gen consoles pushing a handful of PC ports up to 50 GBs install files with 6 GBs of RAM minimum.
If you like plastic looking characters it did, but again like I said great looking vegetation. But even 3/4 games released I never cared for Dunia or really been impressed. I guess Dunia has its roots with Cry Engine 1 given Far Cry 1 had same issue plastic looking characters in great looking jungle environments with good lightening effects.
Any who back in 2009 I was more impressed with RE 5, Bad Company 2, Uncharted 2, and Kill Zone 2 in terms of graphics just to name a few...
I'm with you on this one, even in pictures I've not been impressed with AC4. The textures and polygon count looks Wii U level or slightly above what you can get on the X360 and PS3. But heck its first gen software being developed with last gen money making consoles in mind.
Thank God! I'm sick of seeing UT3, and Dunia engine games. Dunia while yes it does nice vegetation, but characters skin looks too much like plastic and cartoony. UT3 looks like detailed clay, but I think Anvil and Cryengine 3 would have been nice as well.
Yeah but I'm not blown away by Witcher 3, Deep Down had me at wow! But hey this is only the first gen software, come 2015 I'm we will see some amazing titles both in terms of gameplay and graphics.
I'm so on the edge about cancelling my PS4, nothing I want to play this year. I think I might made the wrong pre order choice, KI, Forza always been my favorites, Ryse is starting to look interesting. Only I might not be able to even get an XB1 by Christmas after talking to my local game shops.
