Xbox 360 CPU should smoke the Wii Us, only 1 of 6 threads is used for sound, the OS only takes up 2 percent of the Xbox 360 total power. On average I can't see Xbox sound and OS foot print using more than 20 percent of Xbox total power or about two thirds of one core.
The one downside about the Xbox CPU is the in-order CPU architect. Wii U is out of order core, but even so the performance per core is greater than the Wii U. Anandtech has a great article 4823d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment
1 disagree already? Just stating facts, look at the software sales for third party developers so far. If Nintendo has sold 3.5-4.2 million units or whatever, the highest selling third party game is Zombie U! This title only sold 380,000 units or so, most third party don't even hit 100,000 units sold. No matter how you slice, you can't make money off 100,000 units sold or less for average budget games. Wii U so far is not good business for third party developers much like the Wii.
Nintendo just need to fire everybody in their hardware R&D department. What were the engineers thinking in the R&D department to pair an under power DX10 GPU with the same 10 plus year old modified CPU with slow DDR 3 ram? I like the 1 Gig for games, but seriously can't their software engineers figure out a way to run the OS on 256 MBs of ram instead of 1 Gig? Not seen anything fancy with the Wii U OS that suggest 1 GB is needed to run.
Any who from what I've ...
Relax Dgander, why should developers waste their time porting to inferior hardware when they know their games is not going to sell? Just admit it, Nintendo made an mistake developing a new system to compete with last gen products. Wii U has more ram but slower, faster GPU but slower CPU, blu ray drive but can't play movies, the whole system doesn't make sense. If there is any confusion regarding specs blame Nintendo for not letting the public know what's under the Wii U hood.
Its funny how Square Enix set high expectation for western developers regarding sales targets, when their own Japanese developed games sale much less they praise their sale numbers. FF13-2 Didn't even hit 3million combined sales for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and its getting a sequel. With the exception of Kingdom Hearts 2 on the PS2, no other game in this series hit 2 million sold, but yet no complaining from Square Enix Japan. Dragonquest is the same way, with the exception of DQ 8, no other ...
Well if you think about it, they are paying 120 plus people a salary ranging from $37,000 to over $100,000 depending on their role over the course of 2-3 years. Lets say the average is around $70,000 a year per employee times two-3 years, this equates $16.8-$25.2 million over the course of development. This does not include the cost of R&D, outsourcing art work, CGI FMV movies, voice actors, motion captures actors, and advertisement.
Most movies are shot in 2-6 months and...
I would say $199 with updated releases of their milked franchises will move units for Nintendo. But like the Wii, even if Nintendo move a ton of units for a year or two, it will dimension significantly if no third party support to tie Wii U owners over to the next Mario 31 sequel.
Nintendo will be in a bigger trouble this fall if they don't grow their user base In America. Let's face it, most games sell better in America except for an few exceptions here and there, j...
Agree, I wouldn't buy a car not knowing the specs of the engine, transmission, fuel efficiency, and caring capacity. The only thing Nintendo has released is the basics information most computers need to work; it has a CPU, it has a GPU, it has Wifi, it has Ram, and it has limited storage.
Nothing about the performance besides saying it will be faster than current generation consoles. If a car company hid their specs like Nintendo they wouldn't be in business long. I w...
Wii U-2 will be released in 3 years with Nintendo of Japan scapegoating Reggie for not understanding the America market.
Wii U 2 Specs

8 GBs of DDR4 ram
Power VR Quad core 575M GPU
Blu Drive without Blu Ray playback
128 GB SSD Deluxe model, 32 GB Basic model
Multi touch screen controllers
Wifi N and Gigabit Ethernet
Backwards compatible with Wii U game disc, online only for older hardware.
From all accounts its Direct 10 with 320 shaders which are the specs of the 4600. The only thing that might be custom about this chip is it DRAM. If information is sketchy about Nintendo specs its because of Nintendo themselves, if the chip was so great Nintendo would have parade it like they did the N64 and GameCube. Instead they put in an overprice, under performing GPU and call it next gen.
The GPU in the Wii U is faster than the PS3 and Xbox360, but not by much. From what...
How much is the question? If Nintendo is losing substantial amounts of money on the Wii U they need to fire their engineers. Nintendo is using a CPU with the core design dating back to the GameCube, a GPU based off the AMD 4600 chipset, and only 2 GB of slow DDR 3 ram with no blu ray or DVD playing playback capabilities.
They put all of their marbles into that touch screen which is only average compared to most tablets of similar size. Not trying to be a hater but I use to lo...
Nintendo might be better off recalling all units sold and upgrading their hardware to justify the cost of the unit. They made an next gen system to compete in the current gen market. Many gamers including myself are waiting for Sony and Microsoft to see what they have to offer. I've seen what Nintendo has to offer and frankly I'm not impressed. Nintendo is using a tri core CPU that has a core design dating back to the late 90's with slightly faster clock rates and more cache. I&...
I think for a couple of years I was buying an new GPU every 8-13 months to go from playing Giants to Splinter Cell, from UT2003 to HL2, from HL 2 DOD to F.E.A.R to playing games like UT3 and COD 4. Since 2000 I have brought 8 video cards with my last one being only about 17 months old.
I agree with that. I built my computer last year for $1280 not including new heat sinks for my CPU and GPU just to play COD2 and F.E.A.R at an acceptable frame rate. While today it can play most PC games like Bioshock, UT3, WIC, COD 4,and Graw just find at FPS's ranging from 25-45 FPS with resolutions at about 1280 X 720P to 800P without any hitches. But then there are poorly coded games like Stalker, RB6, Overlord, Quake ET, Supreme Commander, and Crysis that takes $2000 to run ruins it for ...
360 version was abit better then the PS3 version so I would not say the second game that looks better on the PS3. IGN has some screenshots and videos that compare the two, the 360 version is much better in everything. Here is a screenshot link if you have IGN Insider.

I do think it is weird, I do wonder if Gamespot made a typo. Anyways, based on videos and screen shots I say the 360 version looks better. I might give this game a try later after Christmas with all the games coming out I want have time to play until then.

Well if you paused the Game Trailer video at 1:46, and 1:54, if your not blind you can see the 360 version is doing better everything from character models, textures, to lightening. But you do have to look for it to see it, really no difference in motion.
I think they all go to the 360. The second to last image the text on the news paper is slightly more visible, the last one, textures on the head rest is allot better as well. The PS3 version has purple color banding(Too much compression, lower color depth) and generally does not have as much detail as the 360. I will admit, in motion most people would not be able to tell the difference.
I have a PS3, 360, and a Decent high PC as well, along with a new 46 inch LN T4671F HDTV as well. My point is, I'm a gamer, I buy everything hi tech that I can afford (I'm a IT) except the Wii because I already have a Gamecube I do not play. My preference is the PC, then 360 when comes to buying games. I got COD4 on the PC because it looks better then both and cheaper. I hardly buy games for my PS3 (only Heavenly Sword) because I can get everything on my 360 that I want to play complete with ...
Oh wow, it took Nintendo 7 years to make a GPU just 1/3 faster. Lets talk about the CPU, according to http://wiiudaily.com/wii-u-... max flops for the Wii Clock rates seem to only be about 33 GLOPS a second.
Compared to 77 GLOPS Xbox and 224 GFLOPS (X7 SPUs) PS3. Xbox360 twice as fast, PS3 about 7 times faster based on raw performance. This like comparing a Civic (Wii U) to an McLaren F1 (PS3) and BMW 335i (Xbo...
