Need! For me, easily the equal of Shovel Knight and games of a similar ilk - if not better.

A good list of games here. For me, Zelda U and Splatoon are my most anticipated - Nintendo almost always surpass expectations, incredibly. I'll likely pick up Uncharted 4 when it arrives but I just hope its more U2 than U3, U3 was a step backwards (or sideways) in my opinion.

A new IP is all well and good - I would like to see that myself, but when Nintendo does release a new IP, 101 as an example, nobody buys it. I have always supported new IP's on Nintendo hardware - all which get above average reviews at least. It appears however that the fact of the matter is the majority - certainly going off sales - want familiar, probably why 6 monthly installments of popular franchises continue to fill up the charts.

@ShinMaster
Regarding Skylanders/Disney Infinity, both were obviously inspiration for Amiibo, I don't doubt it. Regarding PS All Stars, I never used the heritage argument against it, rather the argument it was weak, lacking in all departments and throwaway.

Sure, because Sony and Microsoft wouldn't be doing likewise if it had a) the heritage or b) thought it first, not that that ever stopped them...Kinect, Move? Also, as others have pointed out, you seem rather conveniently to have forgotten Nintendo released "lots of good games" in 2014, but I understand, being a PS4/X1 owner has been that much better last year...erm, 'remaster' anybody? patch every week anybody? inconsistent 30fps anybody?

Disagree - surprisingly. "Junk hardware" you say? How can you define it junk when it's running games at a flawless - and I do mean flawless - 60fps, on a good many occasions coupled with 1080p. Sure, the Gamepad may not be getting utilised to its fullest potential but games such as Nintendo Land have shown it's promise. So, worse you can say regarding hardware is the Gamepad could be better utilised, and that's it. More still, for all the talk of 'power' I haven&...

Funny, its probably my least favourite Zelda game - OK, Zelda II takes the spoils for that award, but certainly next in line. First time I recent(ish) memory I remember Nintendo treading water. A great action/adventure title, a average Zelda title. Never mind - too much, Skyward Sword more than made up for it in my experience. I'm only gutted Zelda U - by all accounts - won't be carrying on the good work implemented via Motion Plus, even building upon it.

People, stop it! Let Sony and Microsoft get on with the business of reselling last gen games under the heading 'remaster' - albeit Nintendo did release Wind Waker this gen, but that was in HD, something not applicable to the GameCube version. Since I got gifted a SNES for Christmas then bought every Nintendo console thereafter with my own money, I have never done so for 3rd party titles. Sure, we will get the occasional, some bad, some good, some great, but it is first party where its...

Precisely. Don't get me wrong, the big N frustrates me occasionally, the greed in me would like more first party titles more often AND every other third party title under the sun, but, owning either 'rival' console is no picnic. Since I picked up my PS4 at launch I have been left completely underwhelmed, an accusation I can not level at the Wii U - or for that matter any Nintendo console.

Resident Evil 4 (GC) is a bona fide classic. Way, way too many games get discussed under the term 'classic', but few games (in my eyes) truly merit being called such. Mario 64, Shenmue, Okami, Goldeneye, Ocarina of Time, and in my opinion - the most recent 'classic'...SMG, both 1 & 2.

Oh, and before I go, when I talk about Resident Evil 4 I talk ONLY in regards to the Gamecube version. Sure, other versions (Wii and HD) were comparable - even better in othe...

Talk about missing the point. Nintendo games hold their value better because they are considered, carefully made, full of polish. Rival companies less so because their games are cheap throwaway 'entertainment'. If you see even 3% off a first party Nintendo game, grab it, because while being a rare price cut the game itself is almost gauranteed quality.

It won't save the Wii U - being even ad great as it is, but then the Wii U shouldn't need saved. If the masses could avert their gaze from the chav fodder saturating the market and appreciate quality, polish and innovation without the need for mass advertising, the industry might feel a better place.

Success is not always a reflection of quality. Okami, Shenmue, Gamecube, Dreamcast, etc, etc, all sold conservatively, all packed full of quality. Assassins Creed, COD, etc, etc, all sold incredibly, all were average at best - in terms of quality. Now, TLOU was (for me) good, even very good in parts, but the A.I, well it frankly blew...on a game such as this was a sin.

This Amiibo thing (for me) is becoming series. First from wanting a select few to suddenly wanting the entire '2nd wave', now I want every single one. Please, I need help.

Top 5 was looking good, until...Dragon Age. I'm not saying it's not a deserving winner - having not played it myself, games like this are just so rarely my cup of tea. All the talk however is convincing me I'm missing out. Maybe I'll give it a look. If its beating Mario Kart 8 and Smash in certain GOTY lists it must offer something very good.

In terms of exclusivity, both Sony and Microsoft's biggest drawback. I remember when there were reasonably to own a PlayStation or even Xbox, both now have a library much alike. Nintendo stands apart, revels in being different, not just following the latest trend but forging its own path - for good and bad. These oven misquoted third party games are not the Holy Grail, don't believe the hype. It's Nintendo who will still be standing when the smoke settles, and the reason, talent. ...

Hohokum appears to be (for me) the only glaring omission. Saying that, 101. A wonderful Wii U title which - while flawed - did a hell of lot more right and wrong. Ironic that the self-proclaimed 'hardcore' ask for Nintendo to release new IP's, then when they do, yes, you guessed it, they continue to be the same old chav fodder.

4180d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Agree. Personally however - right or wrong - I don't give a hoot about sales, an example...Okami (upon initial release) sold poorly to say the least. Didn't stop it (for me) being one of the best games of that gen and still a fondly remembered classic. The same could be argued for the Dreamcast and GameCube. Neither set the world on fire in terms of sales, both jockyed for not being last place in terms of sales. Again, didn't stop me treasuring each and keeping a smile on my face ...

Erm, no, a Nintendo system is usually defined by a Mario game, not Zelda - or any other character. Saying this, the Wii U has had 2 Mario games already, both 2d and 3d, the 3d one (SM3DW) winning critical acclaim and arguably the best game this gen (thus far), top 5 minimum. As for Zelda U, as usual with Nintendo - barring the Twilight Princess blip - its going to be an event, epic and exceed huge expectations.

4180d ago 3 agree1 disagreeView comment

Its funny, you say Wii U owners need to wait and wait until a couple of AAA games show up, but I have owned a PS4 since launch - and trust me, over a year later and the only so called AAA games are available on previous gen consoles - just as good and much, much cheaper. Remasters as they are known have been Sony and Microsoft's saving grace this gen, to say the least.

If SM3DW, Pikmin 3, W101, Tropical Freeze, Smash, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad, Lego Undercov...
