That's EXACTLY what it was/is. You speak like somebody who hasn't actually played it...certainly not on initial release.
Dont be surprised if it isn't just Capcom who employ this tactic this gen. The only way to make a stand is to not buy it, however, I suspect many of those complaining - particularly if the game gets favourable reviews - will be the very same emptying their pockets for a taste of this.
Yeah, because The Evil Within was so good, right? Be honest, it fell WAY below expectations. I'm not going to be near-sighted by some buzz word. A game is either good or it isn't, and while The Evil Within wasn't bad by any means, it fell way below good/great. I'll be honest, I'm no fan of the Resi series (of late) either. Revelations was good if not great. The last great Resident Evil was 4. Not just a great Resi game but arguably one of the best games of all time. Yeah, ...
Dont judge all console alike. My Wii U has been doing a tremendous job, both supplying the games I want AND performance - running 60fps locked has been little to no problem. I'm sure however the self-proclaimed 'hardcore' will have a reason why sticking to 30fps is good for this particular game but had it been any Nintendo game doing likewise...
So, stereotypes is it? I wont be seeing 50 Shades of Grey any amount of times at the cinema, let alone once...but I think you know me better than I know myself, don't you? Also (again), you are missing the point entirely. Its NOT about nudity, never was. Lastly, "strong willed bad ass women", "yet to date a woman who thinks being nude and getting a little naughty every now and then"...written like a true adolescent who has probably never dated, let alone a WOMAN.
Nice preview. Regarding its depiction of women...its true, women are depicted terribly in said franchise, but, since the games themselves are clearly created by 'men' and aimed at the adolescent...what can we expect? Buy (and most likely enjoy) said game - if you are its target audience, just don't expect to be treat like anything other than a lonely, pastey virgin in the process.
Revelations 2 not being available on either Wii U or 3DS...WTF!? Can only be down to quality control, surely. I mean, give me 1 good reason why both or either platform should be excluded...
Rubbish. DMC was actually a very, very good game which received plenty of positive reviews. My only thing about that is I played it already on the PC - quite a bit after initial release, not being a fan of the series initially. Owning even a modest PC will allow this today.
@WeAreLegion
Fair enough. I just hate the same old sales argument.
No more remakes, please. Yes, while the nostalgia fairy besides me is tempted, I would prefer Nintendo to continue creating new games in the Zelda canon. Games like ALBW's are the perfect balance, more homage than remake. Leave re-releasing all games in its back catalogue as a way of compensating having nothing good (certainly exclusively) on their console to Sony and Microsoft - thus far.
Edit@ saying all this I like what Nintendo are currently doing, particularly with P...
"Gaes - erm, I think this means games - like Mario and NintendoLand are the exact reason I dont want a WiiU"? Its ok, I understand, because SM3DW was truly awful, wasnt it? And NintendoLand, sure, local multi-player, innovation and fun, again, a big no no. Nintendo really are failing gamers by focusing on polished titles such as these when instead the trend is to release not quite completed games as part of a 6 month instalment franchise...that's the big bucks.
Here we go again, sales...the argument of the gamer who has nothing decent (certainly exclusively) on his or her console.
Sales, sales...who gives a f**k about sales!? Seriously, why would anybody who categorise themselves as a 'gamer' even cite sales as a pro? answer, they wouldn't. For example - and this is one I always use...Okami. The game itself sold in such minimal numbers. Does it stop it from being one of the best games of its gen and even one of the top 20 of all time...answer (again), NO. Bloody sales.
@PoSTedUP
Yes, probably I did get so many disagrees because I dared suggest Resi 4 may be a good place to start in the canon of games, like only the more 'traditional' Resident Evil's are so very better. Let me put it this way, and you may disagree - probably will, that's what the angry do these days - or not, but remember Metroid? The idea before Prime that a Metroid game going 3D had 'fans' up in arms, half of them probably having never even played a...
Some people truly forget the cons of past games, even 'classics' such as Resident Evil. Tank controls were not as intentional as you pretend, jump scares few and far between - Resi 4 had "jump scares", and 'puzzles' which were usually poorly designed ways to pad things out.
Resi 4 on the Gamecube because that is how it was designed/intended. Still (for me) looks the best - or at least as good as the Wii version - but particularly playing it on a Gamecube controller just feels right for it, rather unsurprisingly. The Wii version is probably the best overall package and the control scheme brilliant and tight but (perhaps) making the game a little less tense.
I would still so no. Own a half decent PC? Many, many more deserving and better games are available for half that price, gems released in 2014 (or 2013 even) which got overlooked because of one reason or another. If its just a PS4 you own I suggest looking on the PS Store...I just purchased (recently) Never Alone for under £10. A wonderful, wonderful game. As near to 'mature' as videogames have gotten close to while still playing great.
Far, far from it. Its initial release came at the right time, when 'point and click' games were king, a slower and more measured pace favouring the gung-ho chav fodder of today's popular titles. I played this on initial release, thoroughly enjoyed it...not that I think it will make a dent in today's market.
Could not agree or have put it better myself.
People get so pedantic about the term 'survival horror'. Ghosts n Goblins was exactly that...survival AND horror. The main protagonist controlling like a tank and badly signposted mission objectives do not alone equal a survival horror.
