Dead? WTF!? Anybody who owns a WiiU - like I fear a lot of the people commenting hear do NOT - and its library of exclusive games could not argue on it being anything other than a success. Yes, sales have been short, but like the Dreamcast and other systems before it, sales NEVER hampered my enjoyment of a system. Who knows how long any system will be in circulation, my advice would be dont second guess, simply enjoy the GAMES while you can.
Not purchasing a Nintendo system is giving up on videogames in general. Also, if "picking up the ball" is owning and playing the 20+ games I have in my WiiU library - absolutely NO filler, then yes, I'll continue to do just that. I would argue Sony and Microsoft should be more grateful, not many new experiences between them but a marketing and propaganda push so good it has convinced millions to buy into it.
Yes, Splatoon, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, SM3DW, Tropical Freeze, Smash, Pikmin 3, Captain Toad, etc, etc. Yes, you really were an idiot, when all the while you could be playing a 'remaster' from only last gen on a 'next gen' machine.
Nintendo continually raise the bar, for that reason even I expect them to be "best in show".
Digital events, screenshots and propaganda are one thing, having an actual library of great physical released games is another. I'm choosy, and I have roughly 20 games for my WiiU, NO filler whatsoever. My PS4 which I bought at launch on the other hand...GTAV and TLOU, both of which I enjoyed but played already only last gen. This gen may be a 'win' for Sony in terms of sales, on the ground however its easily been (for me) Nintendo gen. Long may it continue.
I dont understand people. Nintendo cant always be relied upon to be best of show. I was actually pleased with its e3 2015 showing. I'm looking forward to a strong 2015 release schedule, be it WiiU or New 3DS.
Who assumed - it would be appearing on Nintendo's next gen system...bedroom warriors/trolls? I never assumed, never doubted. I dont think anybody with half a mind honestly did. Cant wait...
Erm, hardly. Each DLC is based on its own merit. It just so happens Nintendo has been sparing and generous with its DLC output thus far. Long may it continue.
Did somebody just say variety AND Sony/Microsoft in the same sentence? Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Any innovation which started with the PS1 and Xbox has now been all but firmly laid to rest - both PS4 and XB1 being perhaps the safest consoles to have launched in all time. Sadly however (for Nintendo), and I do mean sadly - with a great console AND games to back it up, sales have shown people don't want innovation, rather more of the same.
Stop it with the remakes! Leave that to Sony/Microsoft. A sequel, a prequel, but a NEW experience please.
First, I'm not disappointed with the WiiU, in fact quite the opposite. Its a fact my PS4 is being used solely as a Blu Ray/catch up player at the moment while my time spent on my WiiU playing GAMES is plentiful. I own roughly 15 WiiU games at present - and I'm very picky. I own 2 games for my PS4, TLOU and GTAV - I have owned a few more but keep trading them, feeling sorely underwhelmed and short changed.
Lastly, the whole 'gimped' argument is bogus. Few if an...
Doubt the 'underpowered' WiiU could handle a game of this magnitude. You can keep your Nintendo/WiiU exclusives, I Am Bread is the best reason to own a PS4/
Still wont part the chavs with their much over hyped and under performing 'next gen' machines. This gen has been a travesty in that regard, where a great console with a great library of games gets overlooked because image and PR remain priorities - in a lot of peoples minds.
It amazes me, the trolls. Looks like its now a bad thing to tweak and adjust a games visuals (still extremely good looking) to maintain a steady 60fps more suitable for said game. No, better push a game to 'achieve' 1080p even at the expense of polish and performance. Also, I can be sure my 720p maximum TV (a Kuro Pioneer Plasma) looks better running games at that level than a lot of cheap 1080p TV's doing the rounds - running a similar game at 1080p. These are just numbers. The d...
Another essential WiiU game review...must be some sort of bias, right? LOL
Agreed. I'm as big a Nintendo fan as is possible, but even I'm no 'fan boy', I can acknowledge Sunshine was (while still good) easily the worst 3D Mario to date. Also, what is it with people adding a number on the end of a much loved game which makes them feel better about the idea of a 'new' title. Galaxy was an absolute masterpiece, Galaxy 2 perhaps more so, but (for me) SM3DW was the right direction to take after such stellar titles, forging its own path. Another Ma...
I cant think of a more creative company, but its not creativity people want, sadly - myself NOT included. Look at the PS3.5 or XB1/360, people want more of the same. Yes, they ask for new IP's but when presented with such stick with tried and tested favourites. My WiiU library of games is incredible, creative and polished, AND I'm very picky in which games I buy.
Disagree entirely. Grammer/English lesson aside, classic videogames of old, be it Pac Man, Tetris, Super Mario Bros and Street Fighter (for example) were played by all ages, you could play for days or a 'quick shot' and no long winded story needed was to lure in so-called 'mature' types.
Funny you use the example of Sony offering games "too addicting to play for less than an hour" because I wonder how much of that hour is actual GAMEPLAY, and the FAC...
Agree. Happy to hear this news, but a new Animal Crossing for the WiiU is an absolute must.
"Most powerful" or not, it's end product which counts, nothing else. The Gamecube gave us (for example) Prime, Resident Evil 4 and Wind Waker, some of the best looking and performing (in equal measure) games of that generation. Microsoft did too - with the Xbox, but games so radically different (visually) that to compare comes down to lab analysis.
