But if he was using the leaked PS3 SDK to do it, then they can nail him to the wall.

In the end, all of the systems will have been hacked (360 and Wii already have). That's just the nature of the beast...

Personally, I hope Sony eventually does open up RSX access under Linux. That could make for a very interesting PS3 homebrew scene!

WELL worth the money, especially at this sale price.

I've had it since it first released, and it is a great game.

@5.1: Lame. At least try to be original.

WHAT!?!?!?! ROFL... As if you have ANY ground to tell someone else to say something original... LOL... The only thing you bleat as you're trolling PS3 articles is lemmings this, lemmings that, poor lemmings, etc...

@5.3: Thank you for the opportunity to take another bubble from you, again.

So you can dish it out, but can't take it, eh? LOL..

Ahh... at least you're good for a laugh! ;-) ...

With 8GB of flash built-in, an OLED screen, faster UMD drive, and longer battery life... You can count on me picking one up on launch day.

I've enjoyed my PSP ever since the initial launch back in 2005. I'm hoping that the OLED screen does something to reduce or eliminate the ghosting issue when playing PSP games. That's my only major gripe with the original.

I will give you kudos for a very well worded posting, but I'm not so sure of all of the facts.

1. It is a verifiable fact that Microsoft started out neutral in HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray. Yet the H.264 codec is a required feature of both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
http://www.app...

That Microsoft threw a monkey wrench into the HD format war, screwing the consumer, so they could establish their monopoly in digital content distribution?

Just another case of Micro$oft pulling underhanded monopolistic bull$h1t. Not like they've ever done THAT before...

Gotta love how they value cornering and controlling markets more than what's good for consumers... Another example of "Embrace, Extend, Extinguish". Damn... They even make IBM look ...

I'd say that 8 out of 10 is about right...

As far as comparing it to the Halo 3 Beta, I have no idea... I've never played the Halo 3 Beta (not a big fan of Halo, Unreal Tournament all the way though!!!)

10 years AFTER stopping production on the units? Now that's a company that stands behind their hardware. Too bad they never came out with a newer NeoGeo, but then again the first one was REDICULOUSLY expensive (considering that it was essentially a Genesis on steroids)

I guess they found out real quick that there's only a niche market of gamers willing to spend ~$120/game. Even if it is EXACTLY what you would play in the arcade...

They should have put something in that locks access to the Beta to a particular PSN account, or even a specific system.

The thing that really sucks about people doing this is that they could potentially be modding the game, and causing issues with the beta that would not be there if they were running the original 1.0 beta code. That could have developers on a wild goose chase on bugs that cannot be reproduced in their environments.

Regardless, I hope these issue...

Well, I gotta admit that Nintendo at least made Microsoft and Sony recognize the importance of motion sensing to a "next-gen" gaming experience.

It'll be interesting to see what Microsoft comes out with to counter the Wii. Sony is coming out with the Playstation Eye to counter the Wiimote (the SixAxis does have motion sensing, but it's going to take more that just that...)...

Kinda sounds like both Microsoft AND Sony got caught with their pants down by...

If they would have gone with a dual-core 2Ghz or single 3.2Ghz CPU, and add more RAM (like at LEAST 128MB instead of the measly 88MB it has), the Wii would have SOME next-gen potential.

But personally, putting out a GameCube 1.5 and calling it next-gen just isn't cutting it... When the best-selling games for your "new" consoles are pretty much just tech-demo's, what does that tell you? How the h3ll they're selling the things like hotcakes without AAA titles (and don...

If these lawsuits hold merit, then somebody in Sony upper management is seriously asleep at the wheel. Why didn't they check into whether the technology used was already patented? Most countries (like USA and Canada) have their patents searchable online. There is NO excuse for this.

Then again, these could just be some stupid frivolous lawsuits trying to get money out of a major player in the electronics field (kinda like SCO trying to sue Linux manufacturers over bogus pate...

Let's face it, they got some big hits with Wii Sports and Wii Play, but how long are they going to be able to keep the "casual gamer" locked in?

Hardcore gamers are the ones that will jump on the latest game title, generate the most sales per user, and basically be the bread and butter keeping the money flowing in to the companies putting out the games that appeal to the hardcore gamer crowd...

The casual gamer crowd is a bit more fickle... They aren't...

That isn't to say that Epic won't concentrate on the PS3 more if Microsoft keeps ticking them off...

I'm crossing my fingers that Epic will start showing some serious love to the PS3. I've been a HUGE fan of Epic since their early PC shareware days!

What would be truly hilarious is when UT3 comes out, and XBox owners have to pay for extra maps, expansions, etc. while PS3 owners get all that FOR FREE... ;-)

Let's not forget all of the development studios licensing the Unreal Engine 3.0. Which means that Epic gets a cut from the sales of each title using that engine. With some big hitters like:

EA http://www.gamasutra.com/ph...
Square Enix http://www.gamespot.com/new...
Namco
Granted, a PowerEdge 840 will not have the raw CPU power of a PS3, but I would MUCH rather trust business data on a machine that is built for it than a gaming system..

Besides, if you need the raw horsepower of the Cell CPU, the IBM BladeCenter QS20 goes f...
