Just take a look at how often you have to patch Windows Servers... ;-)
VIVA LA LINUX!!!
Well... you have to admit that if Wal-Mart is not carrying HD-DVD, that's a pretty big hit as far as retail chain exposure...
I'm not sure that HD-DVD is quite dead yet, but this does not help it...
"As an American, it is hard not to HATE microsoft because they almost have all of us in the Computer Industry by the balls and love hanging us upside down by them so our change falls out of our pockets."
YES!!! A fellow IT worker/Gamer!!! You understand what I'm talking about when I say "just take a look at what Microsoft has done to the IT industry..."
Quick solution to that... come over to the "darkside" that is UNIX/Linux... Be...
"It just mean one thing. They're constantly offering incentives to PS3 exclusives games to go multi platform. Kinda scary if you see microsoft pay their way through competitor."
Just like they do in the IT arena...
Which is one of the reasons they're shaking in their boots over Linux in the datacenter... They CAN'T just buy their way out of it... ;-)
I still say that my dream-job would be to work in a high enough position in Sony to have a good bit of say-so over the Playstation line...
Sony has some of the most bad-ass hardware out there, but they have NO FRIGGIN CLUE how to utilize or market said hardware...
Take a look at the PSP. With WiFi built in, and the ability to take up to 4GB MS-Duo's, they could have easily positioned it to very effectively compete with the iPod. Imagine if the launch firmware i...
I'll be picking up my copy after work!
Well... so much for Nintendo producing purely gaming consoles... Ohwell, best of luck to them!
Even though I was an early adopter with the PS3 (and thoroughly enjoying the hardware backward compatibility ;-)), I would love to see the PS3 drop at least $200 in price. That would allow a lot more of my buddies to pick up PS3's... (most of them are married w/ kids.. damn do I feel old...)
Also... IBM... WHERE ARE THE CELL PROCESSOR WORKSTATIONS???? I see blade servers, but I have yet to see any kind of announcement of a desktop or tower Cell workstation... If they did...
Shoot, the flame wars are why I come to N4G... Reminds me of the good 'ol IRC days back in the early 90's...
Ahhh... Memories... ;-)
Thankfully, the DVD vs. DivX battle didn't last long... Just imagine if DivX actually took off... Even though you own the physical disc, you have to pay to play it... I'm SOOOOO glad that never took off...
I'm hoping that Blu-Ray does win out in the format war. After about 30 years of failed formats (Betamax, MiniDisc, UMD), Sony could use a winner.
Not to mention, I can't wait for Blu-Ray burners and media to come down in price... I want 25GB of data on a s...
Wiik :-)
I was hoping Nintendo would not go that way... The system they used on the DS was primitive at best.
Ahhh... my adoring crowd... ;-)
Muhuhahahahaha...
C'mon now... with all the M$ fanboys in here, just getting my point across.
You're a towel... ;-)
The ONLY time I have had my sixaxis disconnect on me is going into, or coming out of a Playstation 2 game. Other than that, I've had rock-solid connections while playing games.
My guess for the cause of this problem would be something nearby broadcasting in the 2.4Ghz spectrum. My bluetooth headset will disconnect from my phone if I get too close to my wireless router (or the microwave while it's on).
BTW... The XBox 360 ALSO uses the 2.4Ghz spectrum for its w...

"Why did Apple do this?
Jobs said the company made this decision because they want to be making the best computer for our customers, looking forward. He cited his 2003 announcement to ship a 3GHz G5 by mid-2004, a promise that is still unfulfilled. He mentioned that Apple has also failed to deliver a G5-based PowerBook. Clearly, Apple has not been ...
Personally, I think that Apple made the switch over to Intel CPU's/chipsets to bring THEIR cost down... Nevermind the fact that it will be a LONG time before consumers benefit off of this cost-reduction...
Other than for MacOS X (which is one sexy BSD UNIX varient), there is really no reason to not take that same money, and get yourself an Alienware or Falcon Northwest system for a little less money, and get BOATLOADS more performance out of it...
Besides, if In...
Don't forget how the last generation of game systems did everything with a single (non multi-threaded) core.
Also, each of the SPU's in the PS3's Cell CPU is running at 3.2Ghz, with the Power5 core being a multi-threaded 3.2Ghz CPU.
There will be some AMAZING work coming out of the PS3 in the next couple of years... I think you'll start seeing the advantages of the PS3 hardware sometime in late 2008/early 2009.
Not to mention, this is HUGE news fo...
I would say a combination of GameSpot, IGN, and 1UP will give you a good idea of what calibur of game you are getting into...
As far as game reviews going away, I wouldn't want that... There's too many TERRIBLE games that come out for all the systems to go into a $40-60 game purchase blind.
Looks like moonshell and a couple other DS homebrew projects would fit what he's wanting... Good luck on getting Nintendo to do it, they'll probably just release a newer handheld in a couple of years...
