Once the PlayStation Eye is released, I wouldn't be surprised if a patch comes out to enable face tracking.
If Sony can pull off 120fps out of the PS Eye, then it will be amazing for face and motion tracking.
They have been putting out Linux versions of their PC games since back in the day =)
I'll give Quake Wars a shot under SuSE.
"5) Sony is the fastest at pumping out firmware upgrades. 7 months and look at what they've added: Background downloading, Folding@Home, PS1/PS2 and DVD upscaling to 1080P, and the famous remote play anywhere in the world with PSP.
I accept that point.. but if you said that about a pc OS it would be a flame instead of a positive.. funny eh. microsoft is fastest at releasing fixes for their os.. beat that."
Say what you want to say about the frequency of...
I happily bash away at Microsoft from my OpenSuSE 10.2 based laptop... ;-)
VIVA LA OPENSOURCE!!!
"The problem with blu-ray is there is no set standard, therefore the players you buy today may not be able to play the Blu-ray discs of the future."
Ooookay... IF this is true, then WHY have so many movie stuidos picked Blu-Ray for their High-Def format (especially with Sony's track record when it comes to new formats)?
Also, do you have any proof of this?
Do you really think that Sony (and others) would have put out their initial un...
"I choose Microsoft over Sony because at least it's an AMERICAN company."
If they're such a great American company, then why are they sending so many of their jobs over to India, the Phillipines, etc? We're talking about a company that could DEFINITELY afford to employ highly-skilled American workers, yet choses to offshore for "cost savings".
I guess those M$ execs must really need the six-digit bonuses and corporate perks just to make ends ...
Nah, they're probably thinking video marketplace with a TV alone...
Although it is funny how Sony starts releasing the Internet-enabled Bravia TV's, now Microsoft is talking about this... =P
Just imagine when it gets to the point of being able to make an OLED touchscreen display that is a roll out mat? Roll out a 46" widescreen display from a tube...
Hopefully there will be something like that soon for Linux/Beryl, Novell signed the patent deal with Microsoft, and they're the ones that headed up the whole XGL/Compiz project... ;-)
Definitely thanks to Epic for the Keyboard and Mouse support on the PS3 version!! I'm so-so with a dual-analog controller, but DEADLY with a keyboard and mouse!!
The PwNaGe is going to be legendary... I can't wait! ;-)
More than likely UT3 is being developed for both OpenGL and DirectX at the same time...
Here's to hoping for a native Linux client like the last few times around... ;-)
And that's nothing short of pulling off a hail mary with both MGS4 AND Killzone2 hitting before Christmas and being nothing short of amazing.
I think that the current upcoming titles for this Christmas season look interesting, but I'm not sure if I would bank on them being true AAA titles.
Other than that, a price drop is critical. Once Microsoft drops their price (which after a about 2 years in-market this holiday season, it's about time), Sony will either have...
Actually, a $200 price drop is going to be the only way to pull off mass consumer acceptance. With articles like this out there, consumer confidence in the PS3 being a value at $599.99 is dropping quickly.
Tech-heads can appreciate what all the PS3 offers for $599, but your average consumer has no idea of what all of the features mean.
If the 60GB PS3 was dropped to $399.99, it would be a no-brainer that it's a good deal. And you would start to see more PS2 own...
One of the first things I did was upgrade my hard drive to a 160GB. I've currently got 75Gig used on it (LOTS of music, movie trailers, game demo's, game data, etc.).
I would be making sacrifices deciding what would go on the internal hard drive if I was still running the stock 60GB drive.
LOL... I would dance an Irish Jig the day I hear that Google WON that case, and the feds crack down on Microsoft...
For an even bigger laugh, check out the last paragraph of that article and compare what Microsoft stock is trading for Vs. Google's stock... ;-)
Personally, I love the battery life on the original sixaxis controllers. I only have to charge mine every three to four days.
Rumble would be cool, but I've also gotten used to not having it. When these come out, I would probably pick up a couple of them, and keep my two original sixaxis controllers for four player action.
The PS3 has the capability to continue to be one of the best Blu-Ray players for quite some time to come. Through system updates, and the fact that the PS3 is an internet connected Blu-Ray player, it can easily offer all of the features of the more expensive stand-alone Blu-Ray players.
I bought my PS3 for a variety of reasons, which included both gaming and high-def movies. By the time firmware 2.0 comes out, the PS3 will have the majority of features that I'm looking for fr...
I got my PS3 in November, and absolutely do not regret the decision. But at the same time, NONE of my buddies have one (or can afford one).
Everybody that I have shown my PS3 to has been impressed with it, but the fact remains that $599.99 is pretty hard to swallow for the majority of people out there.
Sony's best bet would be to get their stockholders blessings on a $200 price drop, and get some blockbuster titles out there. A $399.99 60GB PS3 would SELL. The...
"5 year consoles with complete BC with one another is what I would like IMO. I buy a new computer every 3 years anyway, so this would be kick ass to me."
And that's why Bill G loves ya! ;-)
Welcome to "How Micro$oft does business 101"
They don't care who they screw over as long as they get control of that market sector.
It amazes me that a company that has BILLIONS of dollars in liquid assets can be so incredibly greedy. They don't want ANYONE else having even a sliver of that pie...
"People have to much money invested in dvd collections to go buy all the same movies again at nearly twice the price."
Exactly why would you have to re-purchase movies by going with a Blu-Ray player? They play DVD's, ya know... If not, then there's no way the PS3 would be backward compatible with the PS2.
Not to mention with the 1.8 firmware for the PS3, it does a great job of upscaling DVD movies.
I'm still scratching my head over wher...
